Shopee shows a badge next to many seller names. For wellness products, those badges matter, but not in the way most buyers assume. A badge tells you about the seller. It tells you nothing about whether the product is registered with the FDA.

What we found

A Mall badge is not a registration check

While researching our vitamin C guide in October 2026, we found a Kirkland Signature vitamin C product, the subject of FDA Advisory No. 2026-1299 as an unregistered drug, listed by a Shopee Mall store with more than 10,000 sold. The store is a well-known retailer. The product still was not registered in the Philippines.

Mall status answers “is this seller legitimate?” Only the FDA portal answers “is this product registered?” You need both.

How to use badges well

A sensible order of checks

  1. Prefer the brand’s own storeSearch the brand name and look for its official store or Mall shop. For locally made supplements this is usually easy to find.
  2. Check the FDA numberWhatever the badge, look up the product on the FDA portal. See our FDA check guide.
  3. Compare the priceA brand-name product far below the official store’s price from an unbadged seller is a counterfeit and expiry risk.
  4. Read the listing, not the badgeLook for the dose, the registration number and the expiry date. A badge does not fix a listing that leaves them out.

Seller badge questions

Is it safe to buy supplements from a Shopee Mall store?

Mall stores are generally the safest sellers for authenticity, but check that the product itself is registered with FDA Philippines. We found one product under an FDA warning sold by a Mall store.

What does the Preferred badge mean on Shopee?

Shopee gives it to sellers with strong sales and customer service records. It is about the shop’s performance, not brand authorisation.

Should I avoid sellers with no badge?

Not always, but for supplements and skincare we would choose the brand’s official store or an authorised retailer when one exists.

What is the Shopee Mall 3x money back guarantee?

Shopee announced in 2024 that buyers who prove a Shopee Mall item is counterfeit receive three times the purchase value. Check current terms in the app.
