Our verdict
The Delta Plus EGON Clear (88/100, ₱280) has the clearest listing and the Z87+ high-impact mark; the Delta Plus RIMFIRE (79/100, ₱789) is the tinted pick for outdoor courts. Glasses wearers should look at the Zim Specs VISION goggle, which takes prescription lenses.
Here is the catch: none of the listings we found states the racket-sport eye protection standard, ASTM F3164, which added pickleball in 2024. Our picks are work safety glasses or sports goggles with industrial impact ratings, or, in Rudy Project’s case, pickleball glasses with no rating stated. Any of them beats sunglasses or bare eyes, but none has been tested with a pickleball. If you have had eye surgery, a detached retina, or see in one eye only, ask your eye doctor what to wear. This is general information, not medical advice.
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for pickleball glasses, safety glasses, sports goggles and eyewear brands on October 21, 2026, read the listings from brand, Mall and long-standing shops, and wrote down the standards each listing states. Protective eyewear is not something FDA Philippines notifies, so no FDA check applies; we relied on the brand, the store and the stated standard.
3,112
Estimated pickleball eye injuries seen in US emergency departments from 2005 to 2024, 1,262 of them in 2024, projected from 73 recorded cases in a national sample (Lacher, Koc and Tsui, JAMA Ophthalmology, October 2025, as reported by Review of Optometry). There is no comparable Philippine count.

Why eye protection, and what the ratings mean
A pickleball is hard plastic, and at the kitchen line it can come at your face from a few metres away. The study in the box above found injuries ranging from scratched corneas and cuts around the eye to retinal detachment, orbital fractures and bleeding inside the eye, and 70% of the injured players were 50 or older. Eye protection is not required in casual or professional play. The points below are general information, not medical advice.
| Marking | What it is | What it means for pickleball |
|---|---|---|
| ASTM F3164 | The US standard for racket-sport eye protectors; the 2024 revision added pickleball (ASTM F3164-24) | The one made for this sport. None of the listings we found states it |
| ANSI Z87.1 with Z87+ | US work safety eyewear; “+” means it passed the high-velocity impact test (a small steel ball) | Good impact protection, but not tested with a pickleball or paddle |
| ANSI Z87.1 with no “+” | Basic impact level only | Ask the seller which level |
| EN166 F or EN ISO 16321 F | European work eyewear, low-energy impact (45 m/s) | Also a work rating, not a sport rating |
| UV400 or a sun filter number (EN172) | How much UV and light the lens blocks | Comfort and UV, not impact |
| “Impact resistant” with no standard | A seller statement | Not something you can check |
- Polycarbonate lenses. The ASTM standard notes that polycarbonate is the most impact-resistant spectacle lens material. Every pick here uses it.
- Ordinary glasses and sunglasses are not protection. Glass or thin plastic lenses can break toward the eye, and fashion frames can be pushed into the face.
- Wrap-around shapes or goggles cover more of the side of the eye than flat lenses.
- Seek urgent care after a hit to the eye if you see flashes, floaters or a curtain over your vision, have blood in the eye, or vision or pain gets worse.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Pickleball glasses” | A name | Says nothing about testing |
| “ANSI Z87 certified” | A work-eyewear standard | Look for “Z87+” on the frame for the high-impact level; it is still not a sport test |
| “ANSI accredited” (Zim Specs) | Wording | ANSI accredits test bodies; products are tested to a standard, not “accredited” |
| “Certified for ballistic impact” (Delta Plus RIMFIRE) | A military-style claim | No ballistic standard named on the listing |
| “Strong impact resistance against a fast-moving pickleball” (Rudy Project) | A protection claim | No test named |
| “Anti-fog” | A lens coating | Helps in humid weather; wears off with rough cleaning |
| “No lens is completely scratch-proof” (Delta Plus) | An honest limit | The kind of line we would like on every listing |

Our picks

88/100
Best overall: Z87+ high-impact mark, fully specified, ₱280
1. Delta Plus EGON Clear Safety Glasses, ANSI Z87+ (Gremca-V International)
ShopeeANSI Z87+ and EN166 stated
Clear wrap-around lens
34 g
₱280 per pair
| Standards stated | ANSI Z87.1 Z87+ U6 (high-impact mark), EN166 1 FT (low-energy impact), EN170 UV filter; no racket-sport standard (ASTM F3164) |
| What the listing states | One-piece polycarbonate wrap-around lens, anti-mist and anti-scratch coating, adjustable soft nose pad, 34 g, frame width 5.75 in, lens height 2.4 in |
| Claims | Modest, with an honest limit: “no lens is completely scratch-proof” |
| Missing | Made for work sites, not sport; no tinted version on this listing |
| Seller | Gremca-V International Corp (says it is the Delta Plus authorised distributor in its listings): joined 2019, 3.5K followers, 96% response; 4.96 stars from 139 ratings on this listing |
| Price | ₱280 for one pair |
Plain clear safety glasses from a French protective-equipment brand, with the most complete listing we read: weight, size, lens material and the exact markings for three standards, including the Z87+ high-impact mark. The clear lens suits indoor courts and night games.
They are built for construction and factory work. Z87+ is a high-velocity impact test with a small steel ball, not a test with a pickleball or paddle, so treat it as solid impact protection rather than a sport rating. Try them with a quick side-to-side run before a game; work glasses can slide when you sweat.
Why it scored well
- Z87+ high-impact mark and EN166 markings stated
- Weight and size given
- Admits no lens is scratch-proof
Watch-outs
- Work glasses, not sport-tested
- Clear only, no tint
- No strap included

79/100
Z87+ and EN172 sun filter
Strap and pouch included
28 g
₱789 per pair
| Standards stated | ANSI/ISEA Z87.1 Z87+ U6 L3, EN166 1 F, EN172 5-3.1 sun filter; no racket-sport standard |
| What the listing states | Polycarbonate dual lens with gold mirror coating, curved wrap-around shape, non-slip temples, 28 g, strap and pouch in the box |
| Claims | “Certified for ballistic impact”, but no ballistic standard is named; Z87.1 and EN166 are not ballistic standards |
| Missing | Too dark for indoor courts or night play |
| Seller | Gremca-V International Corp (“DELTAPLUS Philippines Authorized Distributor”): joined 2019, 96% response; 4.91 stars from 43 ratings on this listing, listed August 2025 |
| Price | ₱789 for one pair with strap and pouch |
The tinted choice for daytime outdoor courts: a Z87+ marked wrap-around with a sun filter rating, a light 28 g frame and a strap in the box to keep it on during quick lunges.
The “ballistic” claim is not backed by a named ballistic test, so read it as Z87+ impact protection and no more. A dark mirror lens cuts glare but also light; do not wear it indoors or after sunset.
Why it scored well
- Sun filter and Z87+ markings stated
- Strap and pouch included
- Only 28 g
Watch-outs
- “Ballistic” claim with no standard
- Outdoor daylight only
- Not sport-tested

76/100
ANSI Z87+ stated
Anti-fog lens
Clear or dark
₱163 per pair
| Standards stated | ANSI Z87+; EN166:2001 optical class 1, F low-energy impact (45 m/s); no racket-sport standard |
| What the listing states | 9-base polycarbonate wrap-around lens, 180 degree view, Fog-Ban anti-fog, soft nosepiece, padded temples, slim fit for smaller faces |
| Inconsistencies | Attribute field says “Cut-Resistant, Wind Resistant”; hazards list includes “Biohazard”; says it is suited to indoor use but also sells a dark lens |
| Missing | Weight; whether the shop is an authorised Honeywell distributor; “No Warranty” |
| Seller | Vinsey Julip Corporation (industrial supplier, not Mall): joined 2017, 18K followers, 90% response; 4.88 stars from 120 ratings on this listing |
| Price | ₱163 clear, ₱170 dark |
The cheapest impact-rated glasses we found from a known safety brand, sold by a Manila industrial supplier on Shopee since 2017. The slim frame and anti-fog lens make it worth a look for smaller faces and humid courts.
The listing has copy-and-paste errors (cut resistance, biohazard) and does not say where the shop gets its stock. At this price, check the Z87+ marking on the frame or lens when it arrives.
Why it scored well
- ₱163 for a Z87+ marked pair
- Anti-fog, slim fit
- 120 ratings, 4.88 stars
Watch-outs
- Copy-paste errors in the listing
- Authorised source not stated
- No warranty, no weight

72/100
Strap goggle
Prescription lenses available
Mall store
₱2,990 per goggle
| Standards stated | “ANSI Accredited / ANZI Z87.1 Compliant / CE Marking”; no Z87+ high-impact mark and no racket-sport standard |
| What the listing states | Polycarbonate impact-resistant lens; frame 51 mm, bridge 18 mm, lens height 43 mm; 200 mm strap with silicone hinges; case and wiper included; prescription lenses through the shop |
| Inconsistencies | The ₱800 headline price is for spare nose pads and hinges; the goggle is ₱2,990. “ANZI” is misspelt, and “ANSI accredited” is not a product rating |
| Missing | Weight; which Z87.1 impact level |
| Seller | EYE REP Express (Shopee Mall optical store): joined 2018, 45.9K followers, 66% response; 4.90 stars from 31 ratings on this listing |
| Price | ₱2,990 for the goggle; prescription lenses from +₱750 (basic) or +₱4,500 (polycarbonate) |
A strap-on sports goggle sold by an optical Mall store that will fit prescription lenses, which matters if you play in glasses: ordinary glasses are not impact-rated and can break toward the eye.
Ask for polycarbonate if you order prescription lenses; the listing itself says polycarbonate is the impact-resistant option, and it costs more. Choose the colour variant, not the ₱800 spare-parts option the price headline shows. The listing says Z87.1 compliant but not whether it meets the higher Z87+ level.
Why it scored well
- Prescription lenses through the shop
- Strap goggle stays on
- Frame sizes given
Watch-outs
- Headline ₱800 is spare parts
- Z87+ level not stated
- Polycarbonate prescription lenses cost +₱4,500

65/100
Made for pickleball
Brand’s own Mall store
Clear wide lens
₱4,667 per pair
| Standards stated | None: no ASTM F3164, no ANSI Z87.1 |
| What the listing states | Ultralight wrap-around frame, wide shield lens, ventilation against fogging, adjustable fit; polycarbonate; clear lens |
| Claims | “Strong impact resistance against a fast-moving pickleball”, with no test named |
| Inconsistencies | “Country of Origin: Japan” for an Italian brand, not explained |
| Missing | Weight, sizes, warranty, box contents |
| Seller | Rudy Project Official Store (Shopee Mall): joined 2018, 26.4K followers, 98% response; 5.0 stars from 60 ratings, 216 sold, listed January 2026 |
| Price | ₱4,667 for one pair |
The only pickleball-specific glasses we found sold by the brand’s own store in the Philippines, from an Italian sports eyewear maker. The clear wide lens works indoors and outdoors.
For the price, the listing says very little: no impact standard, no weight, no warranty. Ask the store which standard the Intron Guard was tested to before you pay; if it meets ASTM F3164, it is the one sport-rated pair here, but the listing does not say so.
Why it scored well
- Designed for pickleball
- Brand’s own Mall store
- 60 ratings, 5.0 stars
Watch-outs
- No impact standard stated
- Most expensive by far
- Origin field unexplained
How to choose protective eyewear for pickleball
- Look for a named standard. ASTM F3164 is made for racket sports; if you cannot find it, ANSI Z87+ is the next best thing we found on Shopee. Check the marking on the frame or lens when it arrives.
- Pick the lens for the court. Clear for indoor courts and night games; tinted only for daytime outdoor play.
- Wear glasses? Get a goggle that fits over them or one with polycarbonate prescription lenses; regular glasses are not protective.
- Test the fit. Shake your head and do a quick side shuffle; the glasses should not slide. A strap helps.
- Check for fog. Philippine humidity fogs lenses fast; anti-fog coatings and vents help, and so does keeping them off your forehead between points.
- Buy from the brand’s store or a long-standing distributor, not a new shop or a cross-border seller.
- Replace them after a hard hit or when the lens is cracked or deeply scratched.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search on October 21, 2026 for pickleball glasses, safety glasses, sports, squash and racquetball goggles, and by brand (Rudy Project, Zim Specs, Delta Plus, Safety Jogger, Uvex, Honeywell, Oakley, Joola, Rec Specs, Bollé and others). We identified each shop (Mall status, year joined, followers, ratings, response rate, where it ships from) and read the full listings. We searched the FDA Philippines portal for the brands and found no eyewear records; protective eyewear is not notified there, so we scored provenance on the brand, the store and the stated standard. We scored five with our published rubric: provenance (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not wear or test any product.
The standards are the sellers’ statements; we did not see test certificates. The injury figures are US estimates projected from a small sample. Some news reports of the eye doctors’ recommendation give a different standard number; we cite the ASTM listing itself. This is general information, not medical advice. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best protective eyewear for pickleball in the Philippines?
Of the listings we could check, the Delta Plus EGON Clear (88/100, ₱280) states the most, including the ANSI Z87+ high-impact mark. For sunny outdoor courts, the tinted Delta Plus RIMFIRE (79/100, ₱789).
Do I really need eye protection for pickleball?
It is not required, but eye injuries from balls and paddles do happen, and a US study estimated more than 1,200 emergency visits for them in 2024 alone. Older players were most of the injured.
Which standard should pickleball glasses meet?
ASTM F3164, the racket-sport eye protector standard, which added pickleball in 2024. We found no Shopee listing that states it, so ANSI Z87+ was the best we could find.
Are safety glasses good enough for pickleball?
Z87+ safety glasses have passed a high-velocity impact test and are far better than sunglasses, but they were not tested with a pickleball or paddle.
Can I just wear my sunglasses or regular glasses?
They are not protection. Their lenses and frames are not impact-rated and can break or be pushed into the eye.
I wear prescription glasses. What should I use?
A sports goggle with polycarbonate prescription lenses, such as Zim Specs from EYE REP, or impact-rated goggles that fit over your glasses. Ask your optometrist.
Clear or tinted lenses?
Clear for indoor courts and night games; tinted only for daytime outdoor play.
Are "pickleball glasses" on Shopee tested?
The ones we read named either no test or only a work standard. Being called "pickleball glasses" says nothing about testing.
Is protective eyewear FDA registered in the Philippines?
Non-prescription sports and safety eyewear is not something we found in the FDA Philippines lists, so check the brand, the store and the standard instead.
What should I do if a ball hits my eye?
Stop playing. Get urgent care if you see flashes, floaters or a shadow, have blood in the eye, or vision or pain gets worse. This is general information, not medical advice.
How do I stop my glasses fogging up?
Choose an anti-fog lens or one with vents, clean it gently, and keep the glasses off your forehead between points.
