Our verdict
No Philippine registry certifies a yoga mat as “non-toxic”, so the word is only as good as the materials and certificates the seller shows. The Manduka PROlite (78/100) is the best documented, with a printed OEKO-TEX certificate number, but it is PVC. For a PVC-free mat, Manduka’s eKO Superlite (70, natural rubber, thin) and Kool’s TPE mat (69, about ₱707 per m²) are the two we would look at first.
We did not test any mat or verify any certificate. This is general information, not medical advice.
We searched Shopee for non-toxic, TPE, natural rubber, cork and PVC-free yoga mats, and for known brands, on October 30, 2026, checked each shop’s profile and read the main listings in full. We ranked mats from official shops and one long-standing brand shop; we left the best-selling cheap mats out (see the careful-with table).
1 of 5
Ranked listings that print a certificate number for their material (the Manduka PROlite). None of the other four, including the two PVC-free mats from official shops we looked at, shows a certificate or test report.

Is any yoga mat “FDA-approved” or certified non-toxic?
No. Yoga mats are exercise equipment, not food, drugs, cosmetics or medical devices, so there is no FDA Philippines registration to look up. “Non-toxic” is a seller’s word, not a regulated claim. The checks that exist are material descriptions (what the mat is made of) and voluntary certificates such as OEKO-TEX, which you can ask a seller to show.
What the materials and the certificate mean
These points come from two sources. General information, not medical advice.
- PVC and phthalates. The US National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ fact sheet Phthalates: The Everywhere Chemical says phthalates are added to PVC (vinyl) to make it flexible. It links exposure in laboratory animals to reproductive and developmental problems, and says very few studies have looked at human effects. It does not discuss yoga mats.
- OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100. OEKO-TEX describes STANDARD 100 as a label for textiles tested for harmful substances, with limit values for substance groups such as heavy metals and formaldehyde. It is a harmful-substance test, not a statement that a product is “organic” or “natural”.
- What this means for the listings. The Manduka PROlite listing prints an OEKO-TEX certificate number and says its PVC is phthalate-free; we could not verify the number. The TPE, natural rubber, PU and cork listings name materials but print no certificate.
- Latex. Natural rubber is a latex material. If you have a latex allergy, ask a doctor and the seller before buying a natural rubber mat; the Manduka eKO listing says “99% latex-free”, which does not explain itself.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Non-toxic” | The seller’s description (FUYOGI and others) | No regulator or test shown; not a regulated term |
| “Eco-friendly”, “eco friendly” | Marketing wording | Not a standard; no certificate |
| “Hypoallergenic” | A claim on the Kool listing | No test or certificate shown |
| “Contains no PVCs and latex” | The Kool listing’s statement of materials | No supplier or test report |
| “OEKO-TEX certified” | A certificate number printed on the Manduka PROlite listing | We did not verify it; it tests for harmful substances only |
| “Antibacterial”, “naturally antimicrobial” | Claims on the Lotus listings | No method or test; not a health claim we can check |
| “Photodegradable”, “100% recyclable” | Claims on the Kool listing | No explanation or recycling route shown |
| “99% latex-free” | A claim on the Manduka eKO listing | The mat is natural rubber; the 1% is not explained |
Mats we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Best-selling NBR and EVA mats (Trailtop, “100% NBR Original”, “15MM NBR”, AVINAS EVA) | Cheap, thick foam mats with 3K to 12K ratings each and prices from ₱105 to ₱285. They are sold by regular shops with no certificate, and the listings are about thickness and grip, not materials safety. | Not scored: no material or certificate evidence |
| FUYOGI TPE mats (shop since 2022, 55K followers) | Says “non-toxic, odorless and harmless TPE” and “safer than traditional PVC and EVA”, with 4,527 ratings from ₱729. The warranty attribute is 1 month, and no certificate or maker is shown, so the claim cannot be checked. | Not scored: “non-toxic” with no evidence |
| mōov (PU and natural rubber, ₱1,800 to ₱2,500) | A Philippine brand with a clear materials line, but sold from a small shop with 4.7K followers, and the listing says “no return, no exchange”. No certificate. | Not scored: small shop; no returns |
| SEVA PureGrip (₱2,450) and Light Active (from ₱1,399) | Small local shops (2.4K and 3.0K followers; SEVA has five listings), PU and natural rubber, no certificate. SEVA’s listing says “PVC free” as a feature. | Not scored: small shops; no certificate |
| Unbranded or little-known TPE mats under ₱300 (MOOZEN, MK, 8mm “high density”) | Regular shops, no maker or material test, very low prices, and “tasteless” or “eco friendly” wording only. | Not scored: unbranded; no evidence |
| Cork mats from unbranded shops (MY-HI and others) | No ratings or sales on the MY-HI listing; other cork mats come from shops that do not name a maker or adhesive. | Not scored: no record |
Our picks
Best documented: printed OEKO-TEX certificate number, but PVC
1. Manduka PROlite Yoga Mat 71″, closed-cell PVC (Certified Calm)
ShopeeLazada78/100
4.7 mm, 95% PVC
OEKO-TEX number printed
Phthalate-free (stated)
About ₱8,515 per m²
| Regulator check | Not applicable. No FDA Philippines registry covers yoga mats. |
| Specifications stated | 5% polyester scrim and 95% PVC; “made from OEKO-TEX certified STANDARD 100 PVC (12.HUS.17706 | Hohenstein HTTI)”; 100% latex free; closed-cell; 4.7 mm; 71 x 24 in (180 x 61 cm); 1.8 kg; made in Germany (“emissions-free facility”); serial number on each mat; vegan-friendly |
| Claims | “Free of phthalates and harmful substances”; “lifetime guarantee”; “makes it easy to clean and disinfect” |
| Inconsistencies | The attribute says 5 mm; the description says 4.7 mm. The lifetime guarantee shows no terms or Philippine service details. We did not verify the certificate number with OEKO-TEX or the testing institute. |
| Seller | Certified Calm, an official Shopee shop since April 2024 (14.2K followers, 4.93 shop rating, 77% response). Listing 4.91 from 45 ratings. |
| Price | ₱9,350, variants up to ₱10,450; about ₱8,515 per m² (30 October 2026) |
PROlite ranks first because it is the only listing that prints a certificate number and names the testing institute, and it says what the mat is made of, in percentages. It is also from Manduka, a known yoga brand, sold through an official shop.
It is PVC, and PVC is the material many buyers searching “non-toxic” want to avoid. The NIEHS notes that phthalates are added to PVC to make it flexible (see below); this listing says its PVC is phthalate-free and OEKO-TEX certified, and we could not check that. It is also the most expensive mat here, at about five times the cost per square metre of a PU and natural rubber mat.
Why it scored well
- Certificate number and institute printed
- Composition given in percentages
- Known brand; official shop
Watch-outs
- PVC, not a natural or PVC-free material
- Certificate not verified by us
- Highest price
Best PVC-free natural rubber mat, but thin: 1.5 mm travel mat
2. Manduka eKO Superlite Travel Yoga Mat 71″, natural tree rubber (Certified Calm)
ShopeeLazada70/100
1.5 mm, 0.9 kg
Natural tree rubber
No certificate printed
About ₱4,508 per m²
| Regulator check | Not applicable. No FDA Philippines registry covers yoga mats. |
| Specifications stated | Natural, non-Amazon tree rubber with an orange-peel top surface; 1.5 mm; 71 x 24 in (180 x 61 cm), 0.9 kg (long: 79 in, 1.1 kg); closed-cell surface; recycled rPET packaging; vegan-friendly |
| Claims | “99% latex-free”; “locks out moisture and bacteria”; “sustainably harvested” |
| Inconsistencies | Natural rubber is latex, so “99% latex-free” is unclear and the 1% is not explained. No certificate or test report is shown. |
| Seller | Certified Calm, an official Shopee shop since April 2024. Listing 4.94 from 31 ratings. |
| Price | ₱4,950 for Limelight Marble and Leaf Green, ₱5,250 for other colours; about ₱4,508 per m² (30 October 2026) |
The eKO Superlite is the PVC-free option from a known yoga brand, made of natural tree rubber and sold by an official shop. It is a foldable travel mat, only 1.5 mm thick, so it is a thin layer over a floor, not a cushioned mat.
Natural rubber can affect people with latex allergy, and the listing’s “99% latex-free” does not explain itself. It also prints no certificate, so “non-toxic” is not shown for it, only a material. It costs about ₱4,500 per square metre.
Why it scored well
- Natural rubber, no PVC
- Weight and size stated
- Known brand; official shop
Watch-outs
- Only 1.5 mm thick
- “99% latex-free” unclear for natural rubber
- No certificate shown
Best value: PVC-free TPE from an official shop
3. Kool Non-Slip TPE Mat for Floor Workout, Yoga and Pilates, 6 mm (Kool PH)
ShopeeLazada69/100
6 mm TPE

1,645 ratings

| Specifications stated | Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE); 183 x 61 cm; 6 mm; reversible; non-slip texture on both sides; closed-cell surface; carry strap and bag included |
| Claims | “Hypoallergenic, contains no PVCs and latex”; “100% recyclable and photodegradable”; “water-repellent” |
| Not stated | A certificate or test for “hypoallergenic” or “no PVC”; the TPE supplier; weight; country of origin |
| Seller | Kool PH, an official Shopee shop since June 2019 (187.6K followers, 4.96 shop rating, 78% response). Listing 4.93 from 1,645 ratings; search shows 5K+ sold. |
| Price | ₱789; about ₱707 per m² (30 October 2026) |
Kool is the least expensive mat here by a wide margin, about ₱707 per square metre, and the only one that states plainly that it contains no PVC and no latex. The shop is an official one with more than 1,600 ratings on this listing.
The statements are the seller’s: there is no test report or certificate for “hypoallergenic” or “no PVC”, and no maker is named. “Photodegradable” has no explanation. It is a plain, inexpensive mat with the PVC-free claim and nothing to check it against.
Why it scored well
- Lowest price per m²
- Says no PVC and no latex
- Official shop; over 1,600 ratings
Watch-outs
- No certificate or test shown
- No maker or origin stated
- “Photodegradable” unexplained
Philippine brand: PU leather over natural rubber, 5 mm
4. Lotus Activewear Lotus Studio Pro Yoga Mat, PU leather over natural rubber (Lotus Activewear)
ShopeeLazada64/100
5 mm, about 2.7 kg
PU over natural rubber
Made in the Philippines (stated)
About ₱1,764 per m²
| Regulator check | Not applicable. No FDA Philippines registry covers yoga mats. |
| Specifications stated | Top layer 100% polyurethane (PU) leather; bottom layer 100% natural rubber; 1830 x 680 mm; 5 mm; about 6 lb; non-slip wet or dry; five colours; country of origin Philippines (attribute) |
| Claims | “Antibacterial”; “luxe pro yoga mat”; “polyurethane leather surface draws moisture away” |
| Not stated | A certificate; how the antibacterial claim is achieved; any statement that the mat is non-toxic |
| Seller | Lotus Activewear, an official Shopee shop since July 2020 (175.9K followers, 4.89 shop rating, 78% response). Listing 4.93 from 2,057 ratings; search shows 7K+ sold. |
| Price | ₱2,195; about ₱1,764 per m² (30 October 2026) |
Studio Pro is a Philippine brand with the most ratings of any natural-rubber mat in this guide (2,057) and a clear two-layer description: polyurethane on top, natural rubber underneath. The price is about ₱1,764 per square metre.
The top layer is PU, a plastic, not a natural material, and the listing never calls the mat non-toxic or shows a certificate. “Antibacterial” is not explained. People with latex allergy should ask about the rubber base.
Why it scored well
- Clear two-layer material description
- Over 2,000 ratings
- Official shop; made in the Philippines (stated)
Watch-outs
- PU top layer is a plastic
- “Antibacterial” has no explanation
- No certificate shown
Natural cork on rubber, thin evidence so far
5. Lotus Activewear Origin Yoga Mat, natural cork and rubber, 4 mm (Lotus Activewear)
Shopee58/100
4 mm cork and rubber
Made in the Philippines (stated)
14 ratings
About ₱1,735 per m²
| Regulator check | Not applicable. No FDA Philippines registry covers yoga mats. |
| Specifications stated | Natural cork surface on a natural rubber base; 1830 x 660 x 4 mm; “lightweight”; grip “improves with moisture”; country of origin Philippines (attribute) |
| Claims | “Naturally antimicrobial”; “eco friendly”; “eco-conscious and sustainably inspired materials” |
| Inconsistencies | The feature attribute reads “PRC Free” (probably a typo for PVC-free) and is not defined in the listing. No weight, adhesive or certificate is given. |
| Seller | Lotus Activewear, an official Shopee shop since July 2020. Listing 5.0 from 14 ratings; search shows 62 sold; listed May 2026. |
| Price | ₱2,095; about ₱1,735 per m² (30 October 2026) |
Origin is the only cork mat from an official shop that we found, and the only one described as natural cork on natural rubber. It is cheaper per square metre than most of the list.
It is a new listing with 14 ratings, and “naturally antimicrobial” and “eco friendly” have no source. The listing does not say what binds the cork to the rubber, which is the question a “non-toxic” buyer would ask.
Why it scored well
- Natural cork and rubber materials
- Official shop; made in the Philippines (stated)
- Mid-range price per m²
Watch-outs
- Only 14 ratings; new listing
- Adhesive and certificates not stated
- “PRC Free” attribute unclear
How to choose a non-toxic yoga mat
- Start with the material, not the word “non-toxic”: natural rubber, cork, TPE, PU over rubber or PVC each have different trade-offs. This is general advice.
- Ask the seller for a certificate (such as OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100) and a certificate number you can look up; only one listing here prints one.
- If you have a latex allergy, check with your doctor before a natural rubber mat.
- Compare price per square metre: from about ₱707 (Kool) to ₱8,515 (Manduka PROlite) on 30 October 2026. Thickness matters for comfort: the eKO is only 1.5 mm.
- Expect a new-mat smell. Some brands suggest airing a mat for a few days; mōov’s own care text says so for eco-friendly mats.
- Buy from the brand’s official shop, and check the return policy: one brand we saw sells with no returns.
How we researched this guide
We searched Shopee by keyword and by brand for yoga mats on October 30, 2026, checked each main shop’s profile and read the main listings in full. No FDA registry applies to yoga mats, so we scored provenance on brand, seller and the materials and certificates stated. We scored products with our published rubric: provenance (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not test any mat or verify any certificate.
Only known brands from official shops were ranked, so the best-selling cheap mats are not scored. The materials and certificate points are general information, not medical advice. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best non-toxic yoga mat in the Philippines?
None is certified non-toxic by a Philippine registry. The Manduka PROlite scored highest (78/100) for printing an OEKO-TEX certificate number, but it is PVC. For PVC-free, see the Manduka eKO Superlite (70) and Kool TPE (69).
Is PVC bad for a yoga mat?
The NIEHS says phthalates are added to PVC to make it flexible and links them to reproductive and developmental problems in animal studies, with few human studies. The Manduka PROlite listing says its PVC is phthalate-free.
What is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100?
A label for textiles tested for harmful substances, with limit values for groups such as heavy metals and formaldehyde. It is not an organic claim.
Is a TPE yoga mat non-toxic?
TPE listings say it is PVC-free and latex-free, but the TPE mats here show no certificate. The word is the seller's.
Is natural rubber safe for a latex allergy?
Natural rubber is a latex material, so ask your doctor. The Manduka eKO listing says "99% latex-free" without explaining it.
Which mat is cheapest per square metre?
Kool TPE at about ₱707 per m², then Lotus Origin (₱1,735) and Lotus Studio Pro (₱1,764), eKO (₱4,508) and PROlite (₱8,515) on 30 October 2026.
Is a cork yoga mat non-toxic?
Cork is a natural material, but the Lotus Origin listing does not say what binds the cork to the rubber, and shows no certificate.
Are cheap NBR yoga mats safe?
We could not tell: the listings show no material test or certificate. We did not rank them.
Why is the FUYOGI "non-toxic" mat not ranked?
The listing says "non-toxic" but shows no certificate or maker, and gives a 1-month warranty.
Does a new yoga mat smell?
Mōov's care text says eco-friendly mats do initially have a new-mat smell that passes with time and suggests airing them for a few days. We did not test any mat.
Can I check an OEKO-TEX certificate?
The Manduka PROlite listing prints number 12.HUS.17706 from Hohenstein. We did not verify it; you can ask the seller or OEKO-TEX.
Did you test these mats?
No. We read the listings, checked the shops and scored what the sellers put in writing.
