Our verdict
Lee Kum Kee Less Sodium Soy Sauce (86/100, ₱35.80 per 100 ml) is our pick: an exact FDA record valid to 2028, a full ingredient and allergen list and a claim that names what it is compared with. Kikkoman Less Salt (67) has a current record to 2031 but an almost empty listing, Marca Piña (63, ₱20.00) is the cheapest but claims 70% less sodium with nothing behind it, and 7Grains (60) is a soy sauce alternative with unsourced health claims.
None of the four listings gives the sodium in milligrams, so we cannot say how much sodium any of them contains or compare them on it: read the nutrition label on the bottle. “Less sodium” means less than a comparison product, not low in sodium. If you have high blood pressure, kidney disease or follow a salt-restricted diet, ask your doctor or dietitian. This is general information, not medical advice.
We searched Shopee for low-sodium and reduced-salt soy sauce, oyster sauce, seasonings and salts on October 27, 2026, read each finalist listing and shop record, and looked the brands up in the FDA Philippines food register. Only products with a matching FR- record, or a known Philippine brand with registered products, and an official or long-standing shop were ranked. Imports, unregistered seasonings and chemical “salt substitutes” went into the “careful with” table.
₱20.00 to ₱68.67
Price per 100 ml of the four ranked sauces on 27 October 2026, from our calculation: Marca Piña ₱20.00, Lee Kum Kee ₱35.80, 7Grains ₱51.67 and Kikkoman ₱68.67. None of the listings gives the sodium in mg.

What “less sodium” and “low sodium” mean on a label
These points come from reading the listings and are General information, not medical advice.
- “Less sodium” or “reduced salt” is a comparison with another product. Lee Kum Kee says “at least 25% less” than its own Premium soy sauce; that tells you nothing about the amount of sodium in the bottle.
- Soy sauce is a salty sauce. Even a reduced-sodium one contains salt (Lee Kum Kee lists salt as its second ingredient), so a small amount goes a long way.
- WHO recommends adults consume less than 5 g of salt (2 g of sodium) a day, according to a WHO questions and answers on reducing salt and sodium. We read a summary, not the full guideline, and a salt-restricted diet should follow your doctor’s advice.
- The number to look for is milligrams of sodium per serving on the bottle’s nutrition label. None of the Shopee listings we read gave it.
- Salt substitutes made with potassium chloride are not the same as a less-sodium sauce. People with kidney disease or on certain medicines should ask a doctor before using them.
What the FDA record means for sauces and seasonings
These points are from the FDA Philippines verification portal.
- Packaged foods carry FR- registration numbers and a validity date. A registration means the product is on record, not that a claim on the label is approved.
- Lee Kum Kee, Kikkoman and 7Grains have records that match the product name. Marca Piña has soy sauce records but none named “less sodium”, so we scored it as a brand-level match.
- Kikkoman has two relevant records. One (Del Monte Philippines) ends on 15 November 2026 and one (Kikkoman Trading Asia) is valid to February 2031; we could not tell which covers the bottle you receive.
- We found no record by name for Muscat Blends or Hong Kong Master. The portal returns only the first matches for a name, so a missing entry is not proof that none exists.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | What the listing does not say |
|---|---|---|
| “At least 25% less sodium compared to Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce” | A comparison with the brand’s own product | How much sodium either contains |
| “70% less sodium than regular soy sauce” (Marca Piña) | A comparison with an unnamed regular soy sauce | Which product, which sodium figures |
| “Less salt, savory and umami” (Kikkoman) | A taste and salt statement | Any percentage or sodium figure |
| “No table salt; sodium from naturally fermented soybeans” (7Grains) | That salt is not added | How much sodium it still contains; the ingredients say hydrolyzed soy protein |
| “10x more antioxidants than red wine” (7Grains) | A comparison | Any study or measurement |
| “Helps control blood pressure … beneficial for hypertension or kidney conditions” (another seller) | A disease-benefit claim for a sauce | Any evidence; a food cannot make this claim |
Low-sodium seasoning listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong Master Reduced Salt Light Soy Sauce 760 ml (Asian Mart – Binondo, ₱280) | An import from China, with a listing that says reducing sodium “is particularly beneficial for individuals with hypertension or kidney conditions”. We found no FDA record by name. | Not scored: disease claim, no record |
| Lee Kum Kee Salt Reduced Light Soy Sauce (Mei Mei Mart, ₱195 to ₱215) | An imported Hong Kong version with “Others” as the country of origin and “shipping may take 3 to 14 days”; not the Philippine product with the FR- record. | Not scored: import, different product |
| Muscat Blends No-Salt Seasoning 45 g (₱139) | A shop that joined in 2023 with a 34% response rate; the listing is marketing copy, and we found no FDA record by name. | Not scored: no record |
| Marca Piña and Lee Kum Kee from hotlistings_ph (₱100 and ₱179) | The same products from a reseller that joined in May 2024 and lists 183,311 items. | Not scored: buy from the brand’s shop |
| Potassium chloride sold as a “salt substitute” (₱100 to ₱305) | Industrial or technical grade chemicals and “food grade” potassium chloride, with no registration and no use directions. Potassium is not safe for everyone. | Not scored: not a registered food product |
| Tata Salt Lite, ILITE K Salt and similar imported low-sodium salts (₱219 to ₱557) | Imports with 0 to 52 sales, one pitched at “kidney patients”. | Not scored: no record, disease claim |
| Keto sugar-free oyster sauces and “keto” seasonings | These are low in sugar, not necessarily low in sodium, and we found no registry record for Keto Kusina. | Not ranked: a different claim |
How to choose a low-sodium sauce from these listings
For herbs and spice blends, which can season food with little or no salt, see our seasoning powder sets guide.
- Want the best-documented reduced-sodium soy sauce: Lee Kum Kee Less Sodium.
- Want a known brand with a current record: Kikkoman Less Salt, and expect to pay more per 100 ml.
- Want the cheapest: Marca Piña, knowing the 70% claim has nothing behind it.
- Want a soy-sauce-free alternative: 7Grains Skinny, for the taste and not the health claims.
- Read the nutrition label for sodium per serving, which none of the listings gives.
General advice, not from the sources above: use less of any soy sauce, cook with herbs, citrus, garlic and pepper, and taste before adding salt. If you follow a salt-restricted diet, ask your doctor or dietitian about soy sauce and salt substitutes.

The cheapest per 100 ml, from a Philippine brand’s own shop with over a thousand ratings.
We could not match a “less sodium” record to the exact product, and the listing’s “70% less sodium” has no sodium number or named comparison behind it.
Why it scored well
- ₱20.00 per 100 ml, the lowest
- Philippine brand, 1,282 ratings at 4.9
- Soy sauce records valid to 2031
Watch-outs

A Philippine brand’s own store, an exact food registration under the name “alternative seasoning”, and a short ingredient list with the soy allergen named.
It does not say how much sodium it contains, “naturally fermented” does not fit “hydrolyzed soy protein”, and the antioxidant and gut claims have no source.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA record, valid to 2029
- Short ingredient list, soy named
- Brand’s own official store
Watch-outs
- No sodium figure
- “10x more antioxidants than red wine” has no source
- “Naturally fermented” vs “hydrolyzed” is inconsistent
How to choose and buy low-sodium sauces on Shopee
- Pick products with an FR- registration that matches the brand and the exact product name.
- Buy from the brand’s own store or a large official retailer; avoid resellers of the same bottle.
- Compare the price per 100 ml (₱20.00 to ₱68.67 here).
- Read the nutrition label on the bottle for sodium per serving; the listings do not give it.
- Avoid listings that say a sauce treats or helps hypertension or kidney conditions.
- Do not use potassium chloride powders sold as salt substitutes without a doctor’s advice.
How we researched this guide
We searched Shopee for low-sodium soy sauce, reduced-sodium oyster sauce, no-salt seasoning, lite salt and salt substitutes on October 27, 2026 and read each finalist listing and shop record through Shopee. We looked each brand up in the FDA Philippines verification portal (food registrations) and recorded the FR- numbers and validity dates. We scored each product with our published rubric: provenance and registration (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not use or test any product.
This guide is general information, not medical advice. We cannot say any sauce suits a person with high blood pressure or kidney disease. We could not verify any seller’s stock, expiry date or packaging, and we did not compare sodium contents because no listing states them. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.
Frequently asked questions
Is a "less sodium" soy sauce low in sodium?
Not necessarily. It means less than a comparison product. Lee Kum Kee, for example, says at least 25% less than its own Premium soy sauce.
Is Lee Kum Kee Less Sodium Soy Sauce FDA registered in the Philippines?
Yes. We found "Less Sodium Soy Sauce" FR-4000011205979, registered to SYSU International, Inc. and valid to 7 June 2028.
Which low-sodium soy sauce is cheapest per 100 ml?
Marca Piña at ₱20.00 per 100 ml on 27 October 2026, then Lee Kum Kee at ₱35.80.
How much salt should I eat?
WHO recommends adults consume less than 5 g of salt (2 g of sodium) a day, in a WHO question-and-answer document we read as a summary. Ask your doctor or dietitian if you have a condition.
Can I use a salt substitute?
Salt substitutes made with potassium chloride are not suitable for everyone. Ask a doctor first if you have kidney disease or take certain medicines.
Do these sauces help with high blood pressure?
We cannot say. A food cannot treat a disease, and listings that say it does are making a claim they cannot support.
Did you test these sauces?
No. We read the listings, checked the shops and the FDA portal, and scored what the sellers put in writing.
