Our verdict
A HEPA air purifier reliably lowers the dust and smoke particles in a room, but you must match its CADR to the room, and many listings overstate coverage. Of the six we scored, all from official or authorized stores, the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite (80/100, about ₱8,299) gives the best balance of a stated CADR, room size and price, the Xiaomi 4 Compact (78/100, about ₱4,949) suits a small bedroom, and the Philips 600i (71/100, about ₱4,990) has a 24-month warranty but oversells its room size.
Check the CADR, not the “coverage” claim, and skip anything that makes ozone, “negative ion” or “plasma” the selling point; the California Air Resources Board says ozone generators are ineffective and harmful. A purifier does not cure allergies, asthma or infections. This is general information, not medical advice.
An air purifier pulls room air through a filter and pushes it back out. The useful number is the clean air delivery rate (CADR), the volume of filtered air it produces per hour. We kept to established brands sold by their own or an authorized store, read their listings in full and compared what each states, claims, covers with a warranty and costs.
₱21 to ₱33
is the price of each m³/h of CADR for the three Xiaomi models, from the 4 Compact at the low end to the 4 Pro. The Philips works out at about ₱29 per unit of air flow, and the Blueair and Levoit do not state a CADR at all, so you cannot work it out.

Do air purifiers work, and how big a purifier do you need?
These points come from search summaries of California Air Resources Board (CARB) pages, a few university and school guidance documents, published field studies, and manufacturer pages, not from the original sources. Treat them as general advice.
- HEPA purifiers lower indoor particles. In field studies, portable HEPA cleaners cut indoor PM2.5 by about 30% to 74% in homes during wildfire smoke, and CARB reports about 40% more reduction in classrooms on top of good ventilation filters.
- Health benefits are plausible but less proven. CARB says evidence on specific health benefits in schools is limited. Some trials link purifier use to better health scores, but those are associations, not proof.
- Match the CADR to the room. A common rule (AHAM) is that the smoke CADR in cubic feet per minute should be about two-thirds of the room area in square feet. In metric terms, divide the CADR in m³/h by about 12 to get the room size in m² for a 2.4 m ceiling. A taller ceiling or a smoky room needs more.
- “Coverage” in a listing is often generous. It can assume one air change an hour. Ours uses about five, as is usual for allergens and smoke. That is why the Xiaomi 4 Compact is “48 m²” in its text and the Philips 600i is “44 m²”.
- HEPA means 99.97% at 0.3 micron. That is the benchmark. Claims at 0.003 micron (Philips) apply to the filter material in a lab test, not the whole purifier in your room, and different Philips pages give different figures.
- Avoid ozone generators. CARB recommends not using them, says they are ineffective at cleaning indoor air, and says inhaling ozone poses serious health risks. Ionizers and “plasma” devices can also emit ozone; California limits indoor air cleaners to 0.050 ppm.
- Look for a tested HEPA rating, a whole-unit CADR and an independent test, rather than “kills 99.9% of viruses” or “negative ions”.
- A purifier does not replace ventilation or source control. Stop smoking indoors, keep dust down and open windows when the air outside is clean.
- It is not a medical treatment. See a doctor for asthma, allergies or breathing problems.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “99.97% of 0.3 micron particles” | The HEPA filter benchmark | A filter-media figure; check the whole-unit CADR |
| “99.97% of particles as small as 0.003 microns” (Philips) | A lab figure for the filter material | Not the HEPA standard; different Philips pages give different numbers |
| “Coverage 44 m²”, “48 m²”, “35 to 60 m²” | A room size claim | Often assumes fewer air changes; check against the CADR |
| “Reduces H1N1 virus”, “removes viruses and aerosols” | A virus claim | No test shown; the footnote is missing; not proof of fewer infections |
| “20 dB”, “33.4 dB” noise | The quietest setting | Usual running noise is higher; the specification says up to 60 to 65 dB(A) |
| “Removes VOCs, formaldehyde, odours” | A carbon-filter claim | A small carbon layer may do little; no test given |
| “Negative ions”, “plasma”, “UV sterilisation” | An ionizer or UV feature | Can emit ozone; not a proven way to clean air |
| “1-year warranty” | Cover from the shop or maker | Check whether it is a manufacturer or supplier warranty and keep the receipt |
Air purifier listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Unbranded “air purifier” listings, ₱200 to ₱5,500 | The bulk of the search results: no brand, “negative ion”, “UV” or “HEPA” claims, with no CADR and no filter information. | Unknown brands; not scored |
| Wearable “necklace” purifiers and car air purifiers, ₱469 and up | Tiny ion emitters that cannot clean a room; some are ionizers that may emit ozone. | Outside this guide |
| “Dyson” purifier fans at ₱6,190, and Dyson Purifier listings at ₱23,144 to ₱59,900 | An obvious fake at ₱6,190 (57% off) and dearer listings from other shops that we did not open. Real Dyson purifiers cost far more. | Not scored |
| Sharp Plasmacluster purifiers, ₱8,749 to ₱29,800 | Listings of Sharp models with “plasma” ion claims, mostly from small shops, some at about twice the usual price. | Ion claims; not scored |
| “Air washers” and “air revitalisers” | Water-based devices and “leaf” air revitalisers with no filter or CADR. | Not a purifier |
| Replacement filters, motherboards and adapters | Most “Xiaomi”, “Philips” and “Sharp” air purifier search results are parts, and the Xiaomi 4 Compact headline price of ₱1,319 is a filter. | Check you are buying the purifier |
Our picks
Best overall for a bedroom or living room
1. Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite, CADR 360 m³/h (Authorized Xiaomi Mall PH)
ShopeeLazada80/100
CADR 360 m³/h stated
Authorized Xiaomi store
Filter up to a year
About ₱8,299
| Specifications stated | Model AC-M17-SC; PM CADR 360 m³/h; coverage 25 to 43 m²; 240 x 240 x 533.5 mm; 4.8 kg; one filter up to a year; OLED display; app and voice control; 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles |
| Noise | The specification says up to 61 dB(A); the text says “as low as 33.4 dB(A)” (probably the quietest setting) |
| Claims | “Effectively reduce H1N1 virus in the air” (an asterisked claim with no test shown) |
| Warranty | The specification sheet says supplier warranty, 12 months; the text says “Xiaomi official warranty” and service centres |
| Inconsistencies | The title says “EU” version; the listing does not say what plug is in the box |
| Seller | Authorized Xiaomi Mall PH: 392K followers; 4.9 stars from 162 ratings on this listing, 653 sold |
| Price | ₱8,299 (list ₱11,999, shown as -31%) |
The best balance we found of a stated CADR, a stated room size, a filter life and a price, from an authorized store. At about ₱23 for each m³/h of CADR it is among the cheapest here per unit of cleaning, and the listing gives both a noise range and the dimensions.
Our own check says its CADR suits a room of about 30 m², toward the middle of the 25 to 43 m² the listing claims (see the sizing section). The “reduces H1N1” line has no test in the listing, and the 33.4 dB figure is a minimum, not a typical level.
Why it scored well
- CADR, coverage, weight, noise range and filter life all stated
- Authorized store; 653 sold
- About ₱23 per CADR unit, among the lowest here
Watch-outs
- Noise is up to 61 dB(A); 33.4 dB is the lowest setting
- The H1N1 claim has no test shown
- Warranty field and text disagree
Best for a small bedroom
2. Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact, CADR 230 m³/h (Authorized Xiaomi Mall PH)
ShopeeLazada78/100
CADR 230 m³/h stated
Small 2.2 kg unit
3K+ sold
About ₱4,949
| Specifications stated | Model AC-M18-SC; PM CADR 230 m³/h; coverage 16 to 27 m²; 220 x 355 mm; 2.2 kg; 27 W; noise up to 60 dB(A); 3-in-1 filter that traps 0.3-micron particles |
| Options and prices | The headline “₱1,319” is the replacement filter; the purifier itself is ₱4,949 (US plug); an “EU” option is also listed |
| Inconsistencies | The text says “48 m² coverage” and “20 dB” noise, while the specification says 16 to 27 m² and up to 60 dB(A) |
| Warranty | Supplier warranty, 12 months; the text says Xiaomi official warranty |
| Seller | Authorized Xiaomi Mall PH: 392K followers; 4.9 stars from 891 ratings on this listing, 3K+ sold |
| Price | ₱4,949 for the purifier (list ₱6,999, shown as -29%) |
A small, light purifier at the lowest price per unit of CADR we found (about ₱21), with 3K+ sold and 891 ratings.
Do not trust the headline numbers: ₱1,319 is the filter, the “48 m²” coverage is nearly twice what the specification says (16 to 27 m²), and “20 dB” is far below the 60 dB maximum. By our rule-of-thumb check, its CADR fits a room of about 19 m², a small bedroom.
Why it scored well
- Lowest price per CADR unit, about ₱21
- Small and light (2.2 kg); 3K+ sold
- Specification gives CADR, coverage and noise
Watch-outs
- Headline price is the filter, not the purifier
- “48 m²” and “20 dB” in the text contradict the specification
- Only suits a small room (about 19 m² by our check)

71/100
24-month warranty
Air+ app
Quiet at 49 dB
About ₱4,990
| Specifications stated | HEPA filter; air flow 170 m³/h; noise 49 dB; room size 44 m²; 12 W; 240 V; 2.2 kg; 24.3 x 23.7 x 34.1 cm; three manual speeds (medium, turbo, sleep); Air+ app; filter-life indicator |
| Warranty | 24 months, supplier warranty |
| Claims | “Filters 99.97% particles as small as 0.003 microns”, “removes viruses and aerosols from the air” (footnote (5) is not shown), “removes pollutants in under 17 mins” |
| Inconsistencies | The listing gives “air flow 170 m³/h” instead of a CADR, and a room size of 44 m², which our check says its air flow cannot clean well |
| Seller | Philips Home Appliances: 6 years on Shopee, 43.8K ratings, 406.7K followers, 100% response; 5.0 stars from 130 ratings on this listing, 537 sold |
| Price | ₱4,990 after voucher |
A familiar brand with the longest warranty in the guide for its price (24 months), a quiet 49 dB and an app, from the brand’s own home-appliances shop with 537 sold.
Its listing overstates what it can do. “0.003 microns” is a filter-material test figure, not the standard 0.3-micron HEPA benchmark, and “removes viruses” has no source shown. A room size of 44 m² looks too big for 170 m³/h of air flow; by our rule-of-thumb check it fits about 14 m², a small bedroom.
Why it scored well
- 24-month warranty and a long-established brand
- Quiet (49 dB) and light (2.2 kg)
- Air+ app and filter-life indicator
Watch-outs
- “44 m²” looks too big for 170 m³/h of air flow
- “0.003 microns” and “removes viruses” are claims with no test shown
- Supplier, not manufacturer, warranty; no CADR given
Big-room option, thin reviews
4. Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro, CADR 500 m³/h (Xiaomi Official Watch Store)
ShopeeLazada69/100
CADR 500 m³/h stated
PM2.5 and PM10 sensor
OLED and app
About ₱16,699
| Specifications stated | Model AC-M15-SC; PM CADR 500 m³/h; coverage 35 to 60 m²; 275 x 275 x 680 mm; 6.8 kg; noise up to 65 dB(A); PM2.5 and PM10 laser sensor; 3-in-1 filter; OLED; app and voice control |
| Claims | “Removes dust, pollen, pet hair, odours and VOCs”, “99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 micron” |
| Inconsistencies | The specification lists “Humidification rate: 350 mL/h”, which looks pasted from a humidifier; the 35 to 60 m² coverage is more than the CADR supports by our check (about 41 m²) |
| Warranty | Supplier warranty, 12 months |
| Seller | Xiaomi Official Watch Store: 392K followers; 5.0 stars from only 6 ratings on this listing, 24 sold |
| Price | ₱16,699 (list ₱26,999, shown as -38%) |
The strongest purifier here on paper: a stated CADR of 500 m³/h for large rooms, with dust sensors and a display, from the same official Xiaomi store.
It is the dearest per unit of CADR (about ₱33), the listing has only 6 ratings, and the humidification line in the specification is plainly an error. For a room that big, a purifier of this size is plausible, but read the 35 to 60 m² claim as optimistic.
Why it scored well
- Highest stated CADR (500 m³/h) for big rooms
- PM2.5 and PM10 sensor, app and voice control
- Dimensions, weight and noise stated
Watch-outs
- ₱16,699, about ₱33 per CADR unit
- Only 6 ratings and 24 sold on the listing
- “Humidification rate” in the specification is an error

HEPASilent filter
About ₱12,396
| Specifications stated | Room size 20 m²; 20 W; cleans 20 m² in 12.5 minutes, 40 m² in 30 minutes and 80 m² in 1 hour; four-layer filtration with HEPASilent; washable pre-filter; app and Wi-Fi; RealTrack filter monitoring; 360-degree air intake |
| Warranty | 24 months |
| Claims | “Removes 99.97%¹ of airborne pollutants” (footnote not shown), “faster and quieter than traditional HEPA” |
| Missing | No CADR value, no noise figure, no weight or dimensions |
| Seller | BlueairPH: 7 years on Shopee, 1.1K ratings, 2.2K followers, 100% response; 4.8 stars from only 4 ratings on this listing, 33 sold |
| Price | ₱12,396 (list ₱15,495, shown as -20%) |
A Scandinavian brand with a 24-month warranty and a clear room-size and speed statement: 20 m² cleaned in 12.5 minutes, which by our arithmetic matches about five air changes an hour, a sound benchmark.
The shop is small (2.2K followers) and the listing has only 4 ratings. There is no CADR, no noise level and no weight. At about ₱12,400 for a 20 m² room it costs the most per square metre of the group, so you are paying for the brand and the design.
Why it scored well
- 24-month warranty; a clear room-size and speed statement
- Washable pre-filter; filter-life monitoring
- Consistent with a sensible 20 m² rating
Watch-outs
- No CADR, noise level or weight in the listing
- Only 4 ratings and 33 sold on a small shop
- About ₱12,396 for a 20 m² room

59/100
Popular, but the listing says too little
6. Levoit Vital 100S Smart True HEPA Air Purifier (Levoit Official Store)
Shopee3K+ sold
807 ratings
App and voice control
No CADR stated
| Specifications stated | Three-stage filtration with True HEPA; infrared dust sensor; auto mode; extra U-shaped air inlet “for pet fur”; QuietKEAP technology; VeSync app; voice control |
| Missing | No CADR, room size, noise level, filter life, dimensions, weight or warranty length |
| Claims | “Powerful purification”, “especially effective at capturing airborne pet fur” (no figures) |
| Seller | Levoit Official Store: 5 years on Shopee, 10K ratings, 76.8K followers, 90% response; 5.0 stars from 807 ratings on this listing, 3K+ sold |
| Price | ₱9,939 after voucher |
A popular smart purifier from the brand’s own store with 807 five-star ratings, which suggests buyers are satisfied.
The listing gives you nothing to compare: no CADR, no room size, no noise level and no warranty length. At ₱9,939 you cannot tell whether it suits your room, and the Xiaomi 4 Lite lists all of that for less.
Why it scored well
- 3K+ sold and 807 five-star ratings
- Official store; app and voice control
- True HEPA stated
Watch-outs
- No CADR, room size, noise, filter life or warranty stated
- About ₱9,939 with less documented than the cheaper Xiaomi
- Pet-fur claim has no figure
How to choose an air purifier
- Measure the room (floor area and ceiling) and pick a purifier whose CADR in m³/h is at least about 12 times the room area in m².
- Look for a stated CADR, a noise range and a filter life. A listing with none of them tells you nothing.
- Check the running cost: ask what a replacement filter costs and how often it is needed.
- Skip ozone, ionizer and “plasma” machines. Choose a true HEPA filter.
- Confirm the warranty and whether it is the maker’s or the shop’s, and keep the receipt.
- Buy from the brand’s official or authorized store, and check you are not buying a filter by mistake.
- Run it with the doors and windows closed, and place it away from walls.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for air purifiers on October 15, 2026. The offer list was mostly parts and unbranded devices, so we widened to Shopee search and kept only purifiers sold by the brand’s own or an authorized store (Xiaomi, Philips, Blueair and Levoit), read six listings in full and scored them with an adapted version of our published rubric. Air purifiers are not in the FDA registers we use for cosmetics and supplements, so the first axis (25) scores provenance and compliance: the shop, the warranty and what the listing states. The other axes are disclosure of specifications (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not test any purifier, and the room sizes we give are our own arithmetic from the AHAM rule of thumb.
The evidence points come from search summaries of CARB pages, guidance documents, field studies and manufacturer pages, not the original sources. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for air purifiers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best air purifier in the Philippines?
Of the six we scored, the Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Lite (80/100, about ₱8,299) gave the best balance of a stated CADR, room size and price. The Xiaomi 4 Compact (78/100, about ₱4,949) suits a small bedroom, and the Philips 600i (71/100) has a 24-month warranty.
What is CADR?
The clean air delivery rate: how much filtered air the purifier produces per hour, usually in m³/h. It is the best way to compare purifiers, and you want it to match your room.
What size air purifier do I need?
A rough rule is that the CADR in m³/h should be at least about 12 times the room area in m². A 20 m² bedroom needs about 240 m³/h. Taller ceilings or smoke need more.
Do air purifiers really work?
HEPA purifiers reliably lower indoor dust and smoke particles in field studies. Health benefits are plausible but less well proven, and a purifier is not a treatment for asthma or allergies.
Are air purifiers with ionizers or ozone safe?
We would avoid them. CARB says ozone generators are ineffective and harmful, and ionizers and "plasma" devices can also emit ozone.
What does HEPA mean?
A filter that captures at least 99.97% of 0.3-micron particles. Claims at 0.003 micron apply to the filter material in a lab test.
Why is the Xiaomi 4 Compact listed at ₱1,319?
That is the replacement filter. The purifier is ₱4,949. Choose the purifier option on the listing.
Do air purifiers kill viruses?
A HEPA filter captures virus-sized particles that attach to droplets, but "reduces H1N1" or "removes viruses" claims in listings show no test, and a purifier does not prevent infection on its own.
How often do I replace the filter?
It depends on use and air quality. The Xiaomi 4 Lite listing says up to a year. Ask the shop what a replacement costs.
Can an air purifier replace opening windows?
No. It reduces particles, not carbon dioxide or most gases, so ventilate when the outdoor air is clean.
