Our verdict
“Orthopedic” on a mattress has no medical or legal meaning, and the one trial we found favours medium-firm over firm for chronic low back pain, so choose on firmness, warranty and the seller, not the label. Of the five we scored, the Mandaue Foam Flex Foam (80/100, from about ₱2,144) was best overall with a 10-year warranty from the official store, the COSOVA 8 Inch Memory Foam Spring (68/100, from about ₱3,299) is the only medium-firm option from a shop we could verify, and the Mandaue G2G Pocket Spring (67/100) is a pocket-spring option whose listing says “no warranty”.
We left out the dozens of unbranded “orthopedic”, “latex” and “memory foam” mattresses at ₱1,500 to ₱5,000 with “15-year warranty” claims. A mattress is not a treatment for back pain; see a doctor for persistent pain. This is general information, not medical advice.
Shopee sells thousands of mattresses, from ₱1,500 foam pads to ₱30,000 hybrids, and many of the best-selling are labelled “orthopedic”. We kept to established brands sold by their own or an authorized store, read their listings in full, read the price for each size and compared what each states, claims, covers with a warranty and costs.
₱5,440 to ₱8,560
is the price span of one Mandaue Foam mattress, the G2G Pocket Spring, from the single to the queen. The headline “from” prices on most listings are the smallest, thinnest size, so check the price for your own bed size.

What “orthopedic” means, and how to choose a mattress for your back
These points come from search summaries of a 2003 trial in The Lancet (Kovacs), mattress retailers’ guides, foam-density guides and Philippine retailer buying guides, which we treated cautiously, not from the original papers. Treat them as general advice and ask a doctor about persistent pain.
- “Orthopedic” is not a regulated term. Sources we saw agree there is no official standard, that makers do not have to show testing to call a mattress orthopedic, and that it usually just means “firm”.
- Medium-firm beat firm in the one trial we found. The 2003 Kovacs trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain found medium-firm mattresses gave better outcomes for pain in bed and disability at 90 days than firm ones. It is a single trial with a 90-day follow-up, and the pain-on-rising result was not statistically significant.
- So “extra firm” is not a back-pain fix. If a mattress is firm because it is labelled orthopedic, that is the opposite of what the trial favoured.
- Fit depends on you. Your weight, sleeping position (side sleepers usually need more give) and preference matter. Try one in a store if you can, and look for a return window.
- Foam density is about durability, not softness. A rule of thumb in retailer guides is 40 kg/m³ or more for standard foam to last; the 35 kg/m³ on the COSOVA AirFlex is below that. These thresholds are commercial guidance, not a standard.
- Mattresses last roughly 7 to 10 years, less for cheaper foam. Condition matters more than age: sagging, lumps and new aches are signs to replace it.
- Humid weather needs airflow. Philippine retailer guides say a mattress on the floor traps moisture and encourages mould. Use a slatted or open base, a breathable protector, and air the mattress.
- Thicker is not always better. A 2-inch foam pad is a topper, not a bed; an 8-inch or thicker mattress suits a main bed.
- See a doctor for back pain that wakes you, spreads down a leg or does not settle.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Orthopedic”, “ergonomic”, “back care” | A marketing label | No medical or legal definition; usually means firm |
| “Promotes proper spinal alignment” | A claim about the effect | No test shown; depends on your body and position |
| “Tested 70,000 or 80,000 cycles, nearly zero sagging” | A maker’s durability figure | No report shown; the test method is not given |
| “OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified”, “0 formaldehyde” | A chemical-safety certificate | No certificate number in the listing; check it with OEKO-TEX |
| “10-year warranty” | Cover from the maker or shop | Read what it covers (sagging depth, defects) and who gives it; one Mandaue listing says “no warranty” |
| “Memory foam”, “latex” | A material claim | Several unbranded listings say “latex” with no content figure |
| “Medium firm”, “firm” | A firmness description | No standard scale in the listings; the Kovacs trial used a numerical scale |
| “Anti-allergic, anti-dustmite” | A feature tag | No test shown; dust mites need washing and airing, not a tag |
Mattress listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Unbranded “orthopedic” spring and foam mattresses, ₱1,500 to ₱5,000 | The bulk of the results: “15-year warranty”, “8.1 inch”, “latex”, “back pain relief” claims, 50 to 66% off, no maker or certificate. | Unknown brands; not scored |
| Uratex and Mandaue Foam mattresses from resellers with garbled titles | Many listings with scrambled titles (“URATEX#fy#FOLD-A-MATWT”) at ₱4,800 to ₱5,100 or Mandaue foam at ₱1,935, with no stated warranty; we did not verify them as authorized. | Buy from the brand’s own shop |
| Mattress toppers sold as “mattresses” | A 2-inch Mandaue memory foam topper listed at ₱3,966 to ₱9,085 by different sellers. | A topper is not a mattress |
| Folding and rolled foam “mattresses” at ₱1,000 to ₱2,700 | Thin travel or guest mattresses, some marked “orthopedic”. | Not a main-bed mattress |
| “Natural latex” and “Thai latex” mattresses at ₱2,000 to ₱2,600 | Listings with “natural latex”, “milk silk” and “back care” claims with no maker or latex content stated. | Unverified; not scored |
| Mattress pads, protectors and replacement covers | Not mattresses. Not covered here. | Outside this guide |
Our picks

80/100
10-year limited warranty
Firm
Washable cover
From about ₱2,144
| Specifications stated | Firm; polyurethane foam; 100% polyester cover (machine washable, gray or blue, random); made locally; sizes from single to king; several thicknesses from 2 inches; bed frame not included |
| Warranty | Manufacturer warranty, 10 years limited |
| Claims | None about back pain or “orthopedic” |
| Missing | No foam density or firmness rating; the price depends on size and thickness |
| Seller | Mandaue Foam Philippines: 7 years on Shopee, 111.2K ratings, 329K followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 415 ratings on this listing, 1K+ sold |
| Price | ₱2,144 to ₱10,716 depending on size and thickness (list ₱2,680 to ₱13,395, shown as -20%) |
A plain foam mattress from the maker’s own store, with a 10-year warranty, a washable cover and no inflated claims. It is the best documented and the best value of the five.
It is firm, and the evidence for low back pain favours medium-firm (see below). It gives no foam density, so you cannot compare its durability. Pick the thickness carefully: the cheapest price is the thinnest single, and a 2-inch foam pad is not a mattress for a bed base.
Why it scored well
- 10-year manufacturer warranty from the maker’s own store
- Washable cover; no health claims; 1K+ sold
- Wide range of sizes and thicknesses
Watch-outs
- Firm, not medium-firm
- No foam density stated
- Headline price is the thinnest, smallest size

68/100
Medium firm
Pocket springs
10-year supplier warranty
From about ₱3,299
| Specifications stated | Medium firm; spring mattress; 180 x 200 x 20 cm (king); anti-allergic, anti-bacterial and anti-dustmite; 868 independent pocket springs of 2.0 mm steel; versions from “Cloud 1.0” (20 cm) to “Cloud 4.0” (30 cm) |
| Warranty | Supplier warranty, 10 years |
| Claims | “Tested 70,000 times, nearly zero sagging”, “OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified”, “0 formaldehyde, 0 odour”, “bears 4x less pressure at night”, “engineered for Filipino physiques”, “trusted by 500,000+ families” |
| Inconsistencies | The origin field says Colombia, while the shop ships from Bulacan and describes a 30-year OEM factory; the title says “memory foam spring” but the description is about the springs |
| Seller | COSOVA: 27 months on Shopee, 43.1K ratings, 199K followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 312 ratings on this listing, 967 sold |
| Price | ₱3,299 to ₱6,999 for the Cloud 1.0 by size; Cloud 2.0 to 4.0 cost more |
The only medium-firm mattress from a shop we could verify, which matches the one trial that found medium-firm better than firm for chronic low back pain. It lists the spring count, steel gauge and test figures, with a 10-year warranty.
The test numbers, the OEKO-TEX claim and the “4x less pressure” line have no certificate or report in the listing, and the origin is stated as Colombia. The shop is only 27 months old and the warranty is the supplier’s. Ask for the OEKO-TEX certificate number.
Why it scored well
- Medium firm, the firmness with the most evidence for back pain
- Spring count, steel gauge and test figures stated; 10-year warranty
- 967 sold; 4.9 stars from 312 ratings
Watch-outs
- Test, OEKO-TEX and “4x less pressure” claims have no document shown
- Origin field says Colombia; shop is 27 months old
- Supplier warranty; prices climb quickly with the thicker versions

67/100

| Prices by size | Single ₱5,440; semi-double ₱6,880; double ₱7,800; queen ₱8,560 |
| Warranty | The specification sheet says “Warranty type: No Warranty”; the listing states no warranty length |
| Claims | “Promote proper spinal alignment”, “reduced motion transfer” |
| Missing | No spring count, steel gauge or foam density |
| Seller | Mandaue Foam Philippines: 111.2K ratings, 329K followers; 4.9 stars from 176 ratings on this listing, 638 sold |
| Price | ₱7,800 for a double (list ₱9,750, shown as -20%) |
A pocket-spring mattress from the maker’s own store, with 638 sold, designed to reduce the movement you feel when a partner turns over.
It is firm, it costs more than the Flex Foam, and the listing’s warranty field says “no warranty” while the maker offers longer cover on other models. Ask the shop what, if anything, covers it before you buy. The spinal alignment line is a claim, not a test.
Why it scored well
- Pocket springs for less motion transfer; official store
- Dimensions and prices by size stated
- 638 sold; 4.9 stars
Watch-outs
- Specification sheet says “No Warranty”
- Firm; no spring count or foam density
- About ₱7,800 for a double

67/100
35 kg/m³ foam stated
Washable cover
No warranty length
From about ₱3,499
| Specifications stated | High-resilience foam at 35 kg/m³; 180 x 200 x 15 cm (king, AirFlex 2.0); 10 cm and 15 cm versions; removable machine-washable cover; vacuum-rolled, needs 24 hours to expand |
| Claims | “100% new foam, zero recycled foam and zero mineral fillers”, “80,000 compression cycles, only 0.4 cm height loss”, “OEKO-TEX Standard 100”, “less morning back pain”, “scientifically engineered comfort” |
| Warranty | Supplier warranty; the length is not stated (the shop’s spring mattress says 10 years) |
| Inconsistencies | Origin says mainland China; the title cites a celebrity “pick” |
| Seller | COSOVA: 4.9 stars from only 56 ratings on this listing, 203 sold |
| Price | AirFlex 1.0 (10 cm) ₱3,499 to ₱5,299; AirFlex 2.0 (15 cm) ₱3,999 to ₱5,599, by size |
A foam mattress that tells you its density, 35 kg/m³, which is at the level some mattress guides call the minimum for daily use, and a washable cover.
There is no warranty length, the durability and “less back pain” claims have no report shown, and the listing has only 56 ratings. 10 cm and 15 cm are thin for a main bed; see the thickness advice below.
Why it scored well
- Foam density stated (35 kg/m³)
- Removable, washable cover
- Low entry price from about ₱3,499
Watch-outs
- No warranty length stated
- “80,000 cycles” and “less back pain” have no report shown
- Only 56 ratings; 10 to 15 cm is thin for a main bed

61/100
Firm bonnell spring
5-year manufacturer warranty
Dealer, not the Mall shop
Double about ₱9,215
| Specifications stated | Firm; traditional Bonnell spring with high-density foam; 8 inches; quilted breathable cover; sizes 36 to 72 inches wide, 75 inches long; made in the Philippines |
| Prices by size | Single ₱6,650; semi-double ₱8,335; double ₱9,215; queen ₱9,931; king ₱11,020; super king ₱11,827 |
| Warranty | Manufacturer warranty, 5 years limited |
| Claims | “Orthopedic support”, “excellent choice for back sleepers and those who prefer extra lumbar support” |
| Missing | No foam density or spring count; “non-vacuum” in the title means it is not rolled |
| Seller | mandauefoamdealer: 5 years on Shopee, 9.3K ratings, 20K followers, 88% response; not the Mandaue Foam Mall shop; 4.9 stars from 35 ratings on this listing, 90 sold |
| Price | ₱9,215 for a double |
A traditional firm spring mattress made in the Philippines, with a 5-year manufacturer warranty and the “orthopedic” label many shoppers look for.
The seller is a dealer, not the Mall store, and we could not check that it is an authorized one. “Orthopedic” has no legal definition and here means extra firm, which is the opposite of what the one trial favoured. It costs more per size than the Flex Foam, which has a longer warranty.
Why it scored well
- 5-year manufacturer warranty on a locally made spring mattress
- Prices and sizes stated for each
- Quilted breathable cover
Watch-outs
- Dealer shop, not verified as authorized
- “Orthopedic” just means firm; no medical meaning
- About ₱9,215 for a double, with a shorter warranty than the Flex Foam
How to choose a mattress
- Start with firmness. For chronic low back pain the evidence we found favours medium-firm, so do not assume that firmer is better.
- Check the thickness and the price for your bed size. A listing’s “from” price is the smallest, thinnest option.
- Look for a stated warranty length, who gives it and what it covers. Keep the receipt.
- Buy from the brand’s own store or an authorized dealer; ask the dealer if it is authorized.
- Ask for the certificate behind any OEKO-TEX or durability claim.
- Plan the base. Use a slatted frame and air the mattress in humid weather; do not put foam on the floor.
- Allow a trial period where you can, and a few weeks to adjust.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for orthopedic, foam and spring mattresses on October 15, 2026. The offer list was full of unbranded and resold listings, so we widened to Shopee search and kept mattresses sold by the brand’s own or an official store (Mandaue Foam and COSOVA) plus one Mandaue dealer, read five listings in full, read the price for each size where the page allowed it and scored them with an adapted version of our published rubric. Mattresses have no FDA registration, so the first axis (25) scores provenance and compliance: the shop, the warranty and what the listing states. The other axes are disclosure of specifications (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not test any mattress.
The back-pain, foam-density and climate points come from search summaries of a 2003 Lancet trial, retailer guides and Philippine retailer buying guides, not the original papers. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for mattresses.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best orthopedic mattress in the Philippines?
Of the five we scored, the Mandaue Foam Flex Foam (80/100, from about ₱2,144) was best overall with a 10-year warranty from the official store. The COSOVA 8 Inch Memory Foam Spring (68/100) is the only medium-firm option from a shop we could verify.
What does "orthopedic mattress" mean?
Nothing official. Sources agree there is no medical or legal standard, and that it usually just means firm. Check the firmness, materials and warranty instead.
Is a firm mattress better for back pain?
Not according to the one trial we found. A 2003 trial of 313 adults with chronic low back pain found medium-firm mattresses gave better outcomes for pain in bed and disability at 90 days than firm ones.
How long does a mattress last?
Roughly 7 to 10 years, less for cheaper foam. Replace it sooner if it sags, develops lumps or you wake with new aches.
What foam density should I look for?
Retailer guides suggest 40 kg/m³ or more for standard foam to last, though that is commercial guidance, not a standard. The COSOVA AirFlex lists 35 kg/m³.
Which Mandaue Foam mattress should I buy?
The Flex Foam has a 10-year warranty and is firm. The G2G Pocket Spring is firm with pocket springs but the listing says "no warranty". The Gala Firm in our guide is from a dealer with a 5-year warranty.
Is COSOVA a good brand?
It has 199K followers and 967 sold on the spring model, but the shop is 27 months old and several claims (OEKO-TEX, 70,000-cycle tests) have no document shown. Ask for the certificate number.
Are the ₱2,000 orthopedic mattresses with a 15-year warranty real?
We would be careful. They come from unknown brands, with no maker, certificate or warranty terms, and many are heavily discounted.
Can I put a foam mattress on the floor?
It is not advised in humid weather. Philippine retailer guides say it traps moisture and encourages mould; use a slatted or open base.
How thick should a mattress be?
Eight inches or more suits a main bed. A 2-inch foam pad is a topper or a floor bed.
