Our verdict
For most homes a plain drip coffee maker from a local brand does the job for under ₱1,500; spend more only for a feature you will use, such as espresso or a built-in grinder. Of the six we scored, all from official or brand stores, the Hanabishi HCM15XB (83/100, about ₱927) is the best proven, the Hanabishi HCM25XB (81/100, about ₱1,254) is the pick for a bigger jug, and the Nespresso Essenza Mini (79/100, about ₱9,450) is the best espresso machine we scored.
Most of what Shopee shows for “coffee maker” is parts, filters and unbranded machines, so we left those out. Coffee is not a health product: the claims we check are the specifications and the warranty. This is general information, not medical advice.
Home coffee machines fall into three kinds: drip makers that pour hot water over ground coffee, capsule machines that push water through a sealed pod, and manual espresso machines that you fill and tamp yourself. Shopee lists thousands, from ₱300 unbranded makers to ₱18,000 espresso machines. We kept to established brands sold by their own store, read each listing in full and compared what it states, claims, covers with a warranty and costs.
₱927 to ₱11,520
is the price span of the six we scored, from the Hanabishi HCM15XB to the De’Longhi Clessidra. The cheapest has 2.3K ratings and a stated warranty; the dearest has 16 ratings and states no warranty.

Coffee, caffeine and your cup: what the evidence says
These points come from the FDA consumer page on caffeine and from search summaries of nutrition articles on coffee and cholesterol, not from the original studies. Treat them as general advice and ask your doctor if you have a heart, blood pressure or cholesterol condition.
- The FDA gives 400 mg of caffeine a day as an amount not generally linked to negative effects in healthy adults. How many cups that is depends on how strong and how big each cup is, so count by strength, not by cups. The FDA also notes that people differ in sensitivity and that some medicines and conditions raise it; it advises asking a health care provider if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Paper filtering takes out most of the cholesterol-raising oils. Coffee contains cafestol and kahweol, which can raise blood cholesterol. Nutrition sources say a paper filter removes most of them, while French press, Turkish and other unfiltered brews leave them in the cup.
- A permanent metal or mesh filter is not a paper filter. Several Hanabishi models use a reusable cone filter, which lets more oil through than paper. If you watch your cholesterol, put a paper filter inside the cone, or choose a machine built for paper such as the De’Longhi Clessidra.
- Espresso is not a safe assumption either. A study summary found cafestol in espresso varies widely with pressure, grind and how clean the machine is, and there is no paper filter. This is not a reason to avoid it, only a reason not to treat espresso as “filtered”.
- Descale and clean the machine on the maker’s schedule. Mineral scale and old coffee oils make a machine work harder and can change the taste; the manual gives the descaling method and how often. We did not research this beyond manufacturer guidance.
- Add little sugar and cream if you drink several cups. The coffee itself is low in calories, but flavoured syrups and creamers add most of the sugar in a coffee-shop style drink.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “19 bar” | The maximum pump pressure | Espresso is usually extracted at about 9 bar; more bars is not a better cup |
| “Certified by the European Coffee Brewing Centre” | A maker’s statement of a brewing certification | We did not check it with the certifying body |
| “6 cups”, “10 cups” | A rough capacity in small cups | Often about 100 to 125 ml a cup; 600 ml is not six mugs |
| “550 W”, “800 W”, “1200 W” | Power draw | More watts is not better coffee; it mostly affects heating speed |
| “Perfect crema” | A result claim for espresso | Depends on the beans, the grind and your technique |
| “Pour-over” brewing in a machine | Water spread over the grounds by a showerhead | Not the same as hand-poured coffee |
| “Keeps coffee hot up to 40 minutes” | A warmer plate with auto stand-by | Coffee left on a hot plate turns bitter |
| “100% Authentic” | A Shopee Mall guarantee | Check the shop name; the claim alone proves nothing |
Coffee maker listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Parts, filters and accessories | Most results for “coffee maker” in the affiliate offer list were carafes, filters, gaskets and descaler, not machines. | Check you are buying the machine |
| Unbranded drip makers at ₱300 to ₱900 | Generic makers with no brand, wattage or warranty and big “discounts”. | Unknown brands; not scored |
| De’Longhi KG79 grinder, Dedica and other models | Seen in the official store at ₱4,320 and ₱18,720; we did not read them in full. | Not scored |
| Nespresso Inissia | Seen at ₱8,875 in the official store; we did not read it in full. | Not scored |
| “Cross-border” or imported machines | Imports with voltage and warranty gaps are common in this category. | Check the voltage (220 V in the Philippines) and who covers repairs |
| Moka pots and French presses | Different products; a French press is an unfiltered brew. | Outside this guide |

The most proven machine we scored: a plain drip maker from a local appliance brand, with 2.3K ratings and over 6,000 sold, a stated warranty and a price under ₱1,000.
It brews about six small cups, so it suits one or two people. The permanent cone filter lets more coffee oils into the cup than paper does, so see the filter note below. No dimensions or weight are stated.
Why it scored well
- About ₱927 with 2.3K ratings and 6K+ sold
- Capacity and wattage stated; 12-month warranty
- Brand’s own Mall shop
Watch-outs
- Permanent filter; consider a paper filter inside it
- No dimensions or weight

| Price | ₱1,254 |
The same brand and shop as the HCM15XB with twice the jug for about ₱330 more, a better fit for a household or an office desk.
The listing states less than the smaller model, so check the filter type with the shop. It is also a drip maker, so coffee strength depends on how much grounds you use.
Why it scored well
- 1.2 L jug for about ₱1,254
- 710 ratings and 2K+ sold
- Manufacturer warranty stated
Watch-outs
- Fewer specifications stated than the HCM15XB

| Warranty | Manufacturer warranty of 12 months |

| Seller | Nespresso Philippines Official: 44.7K followers, 2.7K ratings, 6 years on Shopee; 5.0 stars from 373 ratings on this listing, 1K+ sold |
| Price | ₱9,450 |
The best documented listing here: pressure, tank, cup sizes, power, size and weight are all stated, with a warranty and a brand shop with 373 ratings.
It only takes Nespresso capsules, which you buy separately, so the running cost is capsules, not the machine. We did not research capsule prices. Some spec fields look pasted from another category.
Why it scored well
- Full specification and 12-month warranty
- 5.0 stars from 373 ratings; 1K+ sold
- Compact; automatic shut-off after 9 minutes
Watch-outs
- Capsules only; running cost not researched
- Spec fields (5 to 8 cups, Smart Control) do not fit the model
- About ten times the price of a drip maker

4 cups, 600 W
246 sold
About ₱3,970

Why it scored well
- Grinds beans in the machine; also takes ground coffee
- Hanabishi’s own shop; 12-month warranty
- 4.8 stars from 65 ratings
Watch-outs
- About four times the price of the HCM15XB for four cups
- Grinder type and capacity not stated

Why it scored well
- Brewing temperature stated; paper filter; descaling alarm
- Maker’s own Philippine shop
- 10 cups for a household

- About ₱11,520 with no warranty stated

66/100
Pump espresso
Steam wand
178 sold
About ₱7,920
| Specifications stated | Manual pump-driven espresso maker; stainless-steel milk frother; removable drip tray for cups up to 110 mm |
| Claims | “Perfect crema” |
| Inconsistencies | The spec sheet lists “Warranty Type: No Warranty” and a weight of 100 g, which cannot be right for an espresso machine |
| Missing | No pressure, wattage, tank size or dimensions |
| Seller | De’Longhi Philippines: 4.8 stars from 43 ratings on this listing, 178 sold, 20 in stock |
| Price | ₱7,920 (list ₱8,800, shown as -10%) |
A manual espresso machine with a steam wand for milk drinks, from the maker’s own shop, and a less costly way into espresso than a capsule system if you like to grind your own beans.
The listing says “No Warranty”, states no pressure or tank size and has an impossible weight. Ask the shop about the warranty in writing before you buy. A manual machine takes practice, and you need a grinder for fresh beans.
Why it scored well
- Steam wand for milk drinks
- Maker’s own shop; 4.8 stars from 43 ratings
- No capsule lock-in
Watch-outs
- Spec sheet says “No Warranty”; confirm with the shop
- Almost no technical specification
- Needs a grinder and some practice
How to choose a coffee maker
- Start with how many cups you make a day. One or two people rarely need more than 600 ml; a household or desk may want 1.2 L.
- Pick the type by how you drink coffee: drip for black or milk coffee in volume, capsule for quick espresso, manual for hands-on espresso and milk drinks.
- Look at the filter. Paper keeps more oil out of the cup than a permanent cone; add paper if you watch your cholesterol.
- Count the running cost. A capsule machine is cheap to run only if capsule prices suit you; a manual machine needs a grinder.
- Check the warranty and the shop. Buy from the brand’s own or an authorized store and keep the receipt.
- Check the voltage and plug if it is an import; the Philippines uses 220 V.
- Plan for cleaning. Rinse removable parts after use and descale as the manual says.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for coffee makers on October 15, 2026. The offer list was mostly parts and unbranded drip makers, so we widened to Shopee search and kept machines sold by the brand’s own store (Hanabishi, Nespresso and De’Longhi), read six listings in full and scored them with an adapted version of our published rubric. Coffee makers are not in the FDA registers we use for cosmetics and supplements, so the first axis (25) scores provenance and compliance: the shop, the warranty and what the listing states. The other axes are disclosure of specifications (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not brew with any machine.
The caffeine point comes from the FDA consumer update on caffeine; the filter and cholesterol points come from search summaries of nutrition articles, not the original studies. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for coffee makers.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best coffee maker in the Philippines?
Of the six we scored, the Hanabishi HCM15XB (83/100, about ₱927) is the best proven, the HCM25XB (81/100) is the pick for a bigger jug, and the Nespresso Essenza Mini (79/100, about ₱9,450) is the best espresso machine.
Drip, capsule or espresso machine?
Drip makers brew several cups from ground coffee and suit most homes. Capsule machines are fast and tidy but tie you to capsules. Manual espresso machines give you control and need a grinder and practice.
How much caffeine is too much?
The FDA says 400 mg a day is an amount not generally linked to negative effects in healthy adults. Count by strength, not by cups, and ask a health care provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a condition or medicine that raises sensitivity.
Does coffee raise cholesterol?
Unfiltered coffee contains oils (cafestol and kahweol) that can raise blood cholesterol, and paper filtering removes most of them. If your cholesterol is high, ask your doctor and prefer paper-filtered coffee.
Is a permanent filter as good as paper?
No for the oils. A reusable cone or mesh filter lets more of them through than paper does. It saves paper and money, so add a paper filter inside it if you watch your cholesterol.
How often should I descale a coffee maker?
Follow the maker’s manual, which gives the method and a schedule that depends on your water. Hard water needs it sooner.
Is the Nespresso Essenza Mini worth ₱9,450?
It has the best specification and ratings of those we scored, but you also pay for capsules and we did not research their cost. For plain coffee, a drip maker costs a tenth as much.
Why does the Stilosa listing say “No Warranty”?
The spec sheet says so and lists a weight of 100 g, which cannot be right. We would ask the shop to confirm the warranty before buying.
Are the ₱300 coffee makers any good?
We did not score them. They are from unknown brands with no wattage or warranty stated.
Do coffee makers need FDA registration?
We found no FDA registration category for them in the portal we use, so there is no FDA match to report. Look for the warranty and a verified shop instead.
