Our verdict

Omron HBF-375 (80/100, ₱7,880) is the only monitor we found that says how it measures body fat, with eight sensors on hands and feet. Huawei Scale 3 (76/100, ₱899) is the low-cost pick whose listing is most honest about who the body-fat reading is not for. Treat any single body-fat number as an estimate, and use the trend over weeks.

This guide is about body fat. Plain weight scales are not covered here. We skipped cross-border listings and tiny shops, and they are in the table below. This is general information, not medical advice.

We searched Shopee for body composition monitors and body fat scales on October 17, 2026, kept five from official brand stores, and read each listing for how it measures body fat.

0 of 5

of the listings we scored state how far their body-fat reading can be off. One states the electrode layout (Omron HBF-375: 8 sensors), one states the current frequency (Huawei: low and high), and none gives an error range. Counted from the five listings we read on October 17, 2026.

Prices and stock checked on October 17, 2026. No FDA registry entry applies to household body composition monitors (only clinical analyzers are registered), so scores rest on brand, store, warranty and what each listing says about measuring body fat. Price per year of warranty is the listing price divided by the stated warranty in years. We did not use or test any product.

How these monitors measure body fat, and how far to trust the number

These points come from published studies and a fitness reference found for this guide, not from the listings. They are general information, and we have not read the papers in full.

  • What the number is. A body composition monitor passes a small electrical current through the body and estimates body fat from the resistance (bioelectrical impedance), your height, age and sex. It is an estimate, not a direct measurement of fat.
  • Hands or feet only. A study of consumer devices against whole-body MRI and DXA reported 95% limits of agreement that were narrowest for the tetrapolar (hand-and-foot) device, about -6.6 to +4.6 percentage points of fat mass, and widest for bipolar devices, up to about -14.5 to +8.6 points. The authors preferred the tetrapolar arrangement for individual use.
  • Eight electrodes. A more recent DXA comparison reported that an eight-electrode system agreed better with DXA than a four-electrode one. This is why the Omron HBF-375’s layout counts for something.
  • The error is not small. A study of four commercial scales in Chinese children and adolescents found poor agreement with DXA, with the error growing as body fat rose. A study in male college students found limits of agreement from about -1.5 to +10.3 points against DXA and concluded BIA has limited accuracy, especially at higher body fat.
  • So use the trend. One reading can be several points off in either direction. Weigh at the same time of day, under the same conditions, and look at the direction over weeks.
  • Who it is wrong for. Huawei’s listing says the reading is not for under-18s or over-65s and that elderly people, fever patients and serious athletes may see large errors. Pregnant women and people with a pacemaker or other implant are told to avoid it. Ask a doctor if you are unsure.

What the body fat percentage means

The American Council on Exercise (ACE) publishes a body-fat chart of fitness categories. As summarised from its chart, for women it runs essential fat 10 to 13%, athletes 14 to 20%, fitness 21 to 24%, average 25 to 31% and obese 32% and above; for men essential fat 2 to 5%, athletes 6 to 13%, fitness 14 to 17%, acceptable 18 to 24% and obese 25% and above. See the ACE chart coverage.

  • These are fitness categories, not diagnoses, and the chart is not age-specific. Other sources use different cut-offs, so do not treat any line as exact.
  • The numbers come from a lab-style method. A home monitor’s reading can differ by several points (see above), so a reading of 24% could be 20% or 28% on another method.
  • Low readings are not a goal in themselves. If a reading is very low or very high, or you want to change your body fat, ask a doctor or dietitian.
  • Muscle, visceral fat and “body age” are also estimates from the same impedance reading and are less well validated than weight. Use them as prompts, not as measurements.

What the claims on these listings actually mean

ClaimWhat it coversKey exclusion
“Full body sensing, 8 sensors on hands and feet” (Omron HBF-375)The electrode layout the maker uses.Does not state an error range, and the listing gives no study.
“Low and high-frequency currents” (Huawei)The device uses two current frequencies. No error range or electrode count; the claim “enhanced accuracy” is not quantified.
“Match DEXA Gold Standard (0.92)” (Huawei)A claimed agreement with a clinical method. No unit, study or sample; the same listing says it is not a medical device.
“Accuracy of up to 100 g” (Omron HBF-260T1)The weight display step. Not body-fat accuracy.
“High accuracy” or “step on anywhere” (eufy)A marketing claim and a foot-only electrode design. Not quantified; foot-only designs had a wider spread of error in the study cited above.
“Same age comparison” or “body age”A comparison with the maker’s benchmarks. The benchmarks are not shown, and body age is a calculated figure.
“16 measurements” or “10 body indicators”The number of values the app shows. Most are estimates from one impedance reading, not separate measurements.

Body composition monitor listings we would be careful with

ProductWhat we foundOur check
Tanita body composition monitors (BC-705N, BC-768, BC-54 and others, ₱3,018 to ₱5,686)Tanita is a body composition specialist, but the listings we saw come from cross-border resellers such as Wagokoro.jp (opened January 2025, 1,944 followers) and metrosupplies.ph (opened November 2025, 75 followers), each with 0 to 98 sold. Readings statedBody fat and visceral fat with classification, skeletal muscle, subcutaneous fat, resting metabolism, body age, BMI, a same-age and same-BMI comparison, a 90-day progress chart.
Claims“More accurate and complete body composition analysis”; “proprietary benchmarks”.
InconsistenciesNone found between the description and the attributes. No error range, reference method or age limits are stated.
SellerOmron Philippines (official store), on Shopee since 28 May 2018, 179,371 followers, shop rating 4.92. This listing: 4.9 stars from 130 ratings, 438 sold.
Price₱7,880, with a 12-month warranty (₱7,880 per year of warranty), checked October 17, 2026.

It ranks first because it is the one listing that says how it measures body fat: eight sensors, hands as well as feet, and separate readings for the arms, legs and trunk. A published study of consumer devices found that the hand-and-foot (tetrapolar) design had a narrower spread of error than the foot-only designs, which is why this matters (see the next section).

It does not state an error range, and it costs far more than the others. The Omron “same age” comparison uses benchmarks the listing does not show, so treat it as a rough guide.

Why it scored well

  • States the electrode layout and segmental readings
  • Official store, made in Japan, 12-month warranty
  • Progress chart for 90 days

Watch-outs

  • Priciest of the five by a wide margin
  • No error range or reference method stated
  • Benchmarks for the comparison feature are not shown
HUAWEI Scale 3 Bluetooth Edition, body composition (Huawei Official Store)

2. HUAWEI Scale 3 Bluetooth Edition, body composition (Huawei Official Store)

ShopeeLazada

Low and high frequency

Ages 18 to 65 for body fat

Not a medical device

About ₱899

FDA statusNo FDA registry entry applies to a household body composition monitor. No advisory found naming it.
How body fat is measuredBioelectrical impedance with low and high-frequency currents (“TruFit 2.0”). The number of electrodes is not stated.
Readings stated10 body indicators; body fat only for ages 18 to 65; minimum increment 0.05 kg.
Claims“Match DEXA Gold Standard (0.92)”; “AI technology”; “the latest 2.0 version … for enhanced accuracy”.
InconsistenciesThe “0.92” is given with no unit, study or sample size. The warranty attribute reads “No Warranty”.
SellerHuawei Official Store, on Shopee since 18 February 2019, 1,991,183 followers, shop rating 4.91. This listing: 4.9 stars from 7,661 ratings, 20,000 sold.
Price₱899, about ₱89.90 per stated body indicator, checked October 17, 2026.

The listing is the most candid about body-fat limits: it says the scale is not a medical device, that body fat is shown only for ages 18 to 65, that it is not recommended for pregnant women, infants or people with implants, and that elderly users, fever patients and serious athletes may see large errors, with weight the only reliable reading. It also says it uses two current frequencies.

The “DEXA 0.92” line is the weak spot: a number with no unit or study. Ask the store about the warranty, since the attribute says none.

Why it scored well

  • States low and high-frequency measurement
  • States who the body-fat reading is not for
  • Cheapest of the five

Watch-outs

  • “DEXA 0.92” has no study or unit
  • Warranty attribute reads “No Warranty”
  • No electrode count; no error range

Readings stated9 metrics: weight, body fat percentage and mass, skeletal muscle percentage and mass, resting metabolism, body age, BMI, visceral fat. Classified as Low, Normal, High or Very High. 100 g display step.
Claims“Accuracy of up to 100 g”; “meaningful changes in your body over time”.
Inconsistencies“Accuracy of up to 100 g” is the display step, not accuracy. No error range or age limits.
SellerOmron Philippines (official store), on Shopee since 28 May 2018, 179,371 followers, shop rating 4.92. This listing: 4.9 stars from 184 ratings, 683 sold.
Price₱2,990, with a 1-year warranty (₱2,990 per year of warranty), checked October 17, 2026.

It gives you the standard set of body-fat and muscle readings from the Omron brand at less than half the price of the HBF-375, with two user profiles and an app.

It does not say how it measures body fat, so you cannot tell whether it reads through the feet only. The listing does talk about tracking change over time, which is the sensible way to use any of these.

Why it scored well

  • Official Omron store, 1-year warranty
  • Low, Normal, High and Very High bands shown
  • Syncs to an app, 2 users

Watch-outs

  • No measurement method described
  • “Accuracy of up to 100 g” is a display step
  • No error range or age limits

Readings stated16 measurements including body fat, BMI, muscle and bone mass and standing heart rate; 50 g display step; unlimited users; syncs to Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit.
Claims“Advanced technology for high accuracy”; “insightful readings”.
Inconsistencies“High accuracy” is not quantified. The 3D body model is drawn from measurements you type in. No error range or age limits.
SellerAnker Official Shop, on Shopee since 4 September 2023, 349,168 followers, shop rating 4.92. This listing: 4.9 stars from 965 ratings, 1,000 sold.
Price₱2,336, with a 12-month manufacturer warranty (₱2,336 per year of warranty), checked October 17, 2026.

It is a feature-rich scale: the app syncs to the main health platforms, it takes unlimited users, and it adds heart rate. The seller is the Anker official shop, with a manufacturer warranty.

On body fat it says little: it reads through the feet (“step on anywhere”), without an electrode count or frequency. That is the foot-only design that a published study found to have a wider spread of error, so use the trend, not the single number.

Why it scored well

  • Syncs to Apple Health, Google Fit and Fitbit
  • Manufacturer warranty, official store
  • 965 ratings, unlimited users

Watch-outs

  • Foot-only readings; electrode count not stated
  • “High accuracy” is not quantified
  • 3D model uses the sizes you enter

Best for: a low-cost entry to body-fat tracking

5. Xiaomi Body Composition Scale S400 (Authorized Xiaomi Mall PH)

ShopeeLazada

63/100

3.2

Xiaomi Home app

0.1 to 150 kg

1-year warranty

About ₱1,589

FDA statusNo FDA registry entry applies to a household body composition monitor. No advisory found naming it.
How body fat is measuredNot described on the listing: no electrodes, no frequency and no list of readings.
Specifications statedWeighing range 0.1 to 150 kg, minimum division 0.1 kg, Bluetooth 5.0, 3 AAA batteries, Xiaomi Home app, 1-year Xiaomi warranty.
Claims“100% authenticated directly from Xiaomi Philippines”; “1 Year Xiaomi Official Warranty”.
InconsistenciesAttribute dimensions 260 x 260 x 20 mm against 300 x 300 x 24.55 mm in the description. The headline price ₱1,069 is the S200 weight scale; the S400 variant is ₱1,589 and a Mi Scale 2 is ₱799.
SellerAuthorized Xiaomi Mall PH (official store), on Shopee since 17 July 2023, 392,403 followers, shop rating 4.90. This listing: 4.9 stars from 984 ratings, 3,000 sold across all variants.
Price₱1,589 for the S400 variant (₱1,589 per year of warranty), checked October 17, 2026.

It is the cheapest body-composition scale from a big brand with an official warranty. The Xiaomi Home app does the analysis, and the store is Xiaomi’s own.

The listing itself does not describe body-fat measurement at all, and it sells three different models at three prices, so pick the S400 variant and check the price you are paying. The advertised ₱1,069 is not the S400.

Why it scored well

  • Official Xiaomi store with a 1-year warranty
  • S400 variant under ₱1,600
  • 984 ratings on this listing

Watch-outs

  • Nothing on how body fat is measured
  • The headline price is for a different model
  • Dimensions disagree between attribute and description

How to choose and use a body composition monitor

  • Check how it measures. A listing that names the electrode layout (hands and feet, 8 sensors) tells you more than one that says only “accurate”.
  • Look for the limits. Age limits and who should not use it, as Huawei’s listing says, are a sign the seller is being honest about the estimate.
  • Decide whether you need segmental readings (arms, legs, trunk). Only the Omron HBF-375 states them.
  • Weigh at the same time of day, before eating and after using the toilet, on a hard floor, with bare dry feet. Hydration and food change readings. This is general advice.
  • Track the weekly average, not single readings. A trend over weeks is more useful than any one number.
  • Do not use the body-fat function if you are pregnant or have a pacemaker or other implant, and do not use it for children unless the maker says so. Ask a doctor.

How we researched this guide

We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for body composition monitors, body fat scales and brand names (Omron, Tanita, Xiaomi, Huawei, eufy, InBody and others) on October 17, 2026, checked each shop’s identity and joining date, and read the listing text of each finalist for how it measures body fat. We checked the FDA Philippines verification portal: household body composition monitors do not appear in the registry (only clinical analyzers such as InBody do), and we found no advisory naming the monitors we scored. We scored them with our published rubric: provenance and registration (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not use or test any product, and we cannot say how accurate any monitor is.

The studies and the ACE chart in this guide were summarised from search results and not read in full, and the registry lookup returns only the first matches for a word. Scores are modest because most listings say little about body fat, so the best score is 80. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the body fat reading on a home scale?

It can be several percentage points off. A study of consumer devices against DXA reported limits of agreement of about -6.6 to +4.6 points for a hand-and-foot device and up to about -14.5 to +8.6 for foot-only devices. None of the five listings states an error range.

Which monitor measures body fat best?

We cannot say, since we did not test any. The Omron HBF-375 is the only one that states a hand-and-foot, eight-sensor design and segmental readings, which the cited study associates with a narrower error spread.

Is a foot-only scale good enough?

For tracking your own trend, it can be. For a single number to compare with a chart, the cited study found a wider spread of error for foot-only designs.

What is a healthy body fat percentage?

It depends on age, sex and the source. ACE's fitness categories for adults run roughly 14 to 24% for men and 21 to 31% for women between fitness and average, but other sources differ and these are not diagnoses. Ask a doctor about your own target.

Why does my reading change from morning to night?

Hydration, food, exercise and skin moisture change the impedance reading. Weigh under the same conditions every time.

Can children, pregnant women or people with a pacemaker use it?

The Huawei listing says not to for pregnant women, infants or anyone with an implanted device, and that body fat is shown only for ages 18 to 65. Ask a doctor for advice.

Is a body composition monitor a medical device?

The Huawei listing says its scale is not a medical device. Clinical analyzers such as InBody models are registered in the FDA registry; the household monitors in this guide did not appear there.

Why is the Xiaomi S400 ranked last?

Its listing says nothing about how body fat is measured, has a dimension mismatch, and its headline price belongs to a different model.

What does "DEXA 0.92" mean on the Huawei listing?

The listing does not say. A match of 0.92 with DEXA might refer to a correlation, but the listing gives no unit, study or sample size.

Are Tanita monitors better?

Tanita is a long-established body composition brand, but we only found Tanita on Shopee from cross-border resellers, so we did not score it.

What does "price per year of warranty" mean?

The listing price divided by the stated warranty in years, a rough value comparison. The Huawei listing states no warranty, so none is shown.

How often should I measure?

That depends on your goals. Weekly averages are more useful than daily readings, and a doctor or dietitian can advise on your plan.
