Our verdict

An electric shaver is a gentler choice than a blade if you get razor bumps, but a ₱1,500 model does the same basic job as a ₱7,000 one, so buy for the features and the warranty you will use. Of the six we scored, all from official or authorized stores, the Xiaomi S200 (79/100, about ₱1,529) was best documented and cheapest, the Philips Series 1000 S1880 (76/100, about ₱1,896) is the pick from a shaving brand, and the Xiaomi S500 (73/100, about ₱1,679) has three floating heads for about the same price.

Braun, a major shaver brand, was only sold on Shopee by Korea and Japan import shops (₱3,100 to ₱17,700) with no local warranty stated, so we left it out. A shaver does not treat skin problems; see a doctor for painful or persistent bumps. This is general information, not medical advice.

Electric shavers come in two main types: foil shavers, with a thin metal screen over oscillating blades, and rotary shavers, with floating round heads. Shopee lists hundreds, from ₱300 unbranded “beard knives” to ₱17,000 Braun imports. We kept to established brands sold by their own or an authorized store, read their listings in full and compared what each states, claims, covers with a warranty and costs.

₱1,529 to ₱7,645

is the price span of the six we scored, from the Xiaomi S200 to the Panasonic ES-LT2B. The cheapest has a full specification and a one-year warranty; the dearest states no battery life or warranty at all.

Prices and stock checked on October 15, 2026. We did not test any shaver for closeness, comfort or noise; the figures are those in the listings. “Not stated” means the listing does not say. Electric shavers are not registered with the FDA like cosmetics or supplements, so there is no FDA match to report.

Electric shaver or blade, and how to look after one

These points come from search summaries of dermatology articles on razor bumps and manufacturer maintenance guides (Panasonic, Philips, Wahl), not from the original sources. Treat them as general advice.

  • Shaving less closely helps razor bumps. Dermatology sources describe razor bumps (pseudofolliculitis barbae) as curled hairs growing back into the skin, and say an electric shaver, which does not cut as close as a blade, is a reasonable alternative. Military studies cited by one dermatologist found most cases resolved when close shaving stopped.
  • Electric shavers are not a cure. If you keep getting painful bumps, a doctor can help; one source advises avoiding shaving for several weeks until lesions settle.
  • If you use a blade, soften the beard first, use a lubricant, shave with the grain and replace blades often.
  • Foil or rotary? Foil shavers (Panasonic, the Xiaomi S200) are often liked for short stubble and a close shave; rotary shavers (Philips, Xiaomi S500) follow curves and suit people who shave every few days. This is general preference, not a tested result.
  • Clean after use. Manufacturers advise rinsing a waterproof shaver after each use and a deeper clean every few shaves. Do not tap foils on a sink, as Philips warns.
  • Replace the shaving heads about once a year, or sooner if the foil is damaged. Panasonic suggests about a year for outer foils and two for inner blades. A dull or damaged head pulls and irritates.
  • The “bacteria” warnings are mostly from makers. One maker cites a survey of 515 Japanese men, not clinical research, so treat them as common-sense hygiene.
  • Replacement heads matter. Check head availability and price in the Philippines before you buy; we did not research this.

A three-head rotary shaver from a shaving brand, with 189 ratings and 724 sold, and a rinse-under-the-tap head that is easy to clean.

A three-head floating shaver at about the price of the two-foil S200, with 616 sold and 170 ratings, so it is better proven in use.

The title mentions an LED display that the specification does not describe, and the listing gives no waterproof rating even though it says “wet and dry”. Only one was in stock when we checked.

Why it scored well

  • Three floating heads at about ₱1,679

A mid-range Philips with a gentle “Sensitive Mode”, a quick charge and the longest stated warranty here, two years.

It costs about ₱3,000 more than the Series 1000 and has only 11 ratings. If you get razor bumps, shaving less closely matters more than the label on a mode. The “gentle” claim is the maker’s.

Why it scored well

  • 2-year warranty; 50-minute runtime and 5-minute quick charge stated
  • Sensitive Mode for the face and head

A premium foil-style shaver from the maker’s own Philippine shop, with a linear motor, a beard sensor and a pop-up trimmer, which is the best choice here for people who prefer foil shavers to floating rotary heads.

It costs about five times the Xiaomi S200 and the listing does not state the battery life or the warranty. You are paying for the motor and the brand, and the listing does not show what that adds in the shave.

Why it scored well

  • Linear motor, beard sensor, pop-up trimmer and universal voltage stated
  • Maker’s own shop; 4.9 stars
  • Light at about 145 g

The dearest Philips here, from the brand’s own shop, with a “SkinProtect” feature that is meant to limit how hard the shaver presses on the skin.

The description is for the Series 3000 and says nothing about what the 5000 adds, so you cannot tell what you pay about ₱2,000 extra for. With 10 ratings, it is the least proven of the six.

Why it scored well

  • Brand’s own shop; showerproof
  • SkinProtect and flex heads named
  • Stock of 16

Watch-outs

  • Description is for the Series 3000, not the 5000

How to choose an electric shaver

  • Start with your skin and beard. If you get razor bumps, shave less often and less closely; an electric shaver helps.
  • Pick foil or rotary by how often you shave and how curved your face is, and read the reviews on the listing.
  • Look for a stated battery life, charging method and waterproof rating. A listing with none of them tells you little.
  • Check the warranty and whether it is the maker’s; keep the receipt.
  • Buy from the brand’s own or an authorized store, and avoid imports with no local warranty.
  • Plan for replacement heads about once a year, and check that they are sold here.
  • Clean it after every use and let it dry before storing.

How we researched this guide

We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for electric shavers on October 15, 2026. The offer list was mostly accessories and unbranded shavers, so we widened to Shopee search and kept shavers sold by the brand’s own or an authorized store (Xiaomi, Philips and Panasonic), read six listings in full and scored them with an adapted version of our published rubric. Shavers are not in the FDA registers we use for cosmetics and supplements, so the first axis (25) scores provenance and compliance: the shop, the warranty and what the listing states. The other axes are disclosure of specifications (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not test any shaver.

The skin and maintenance points come from search summaries of dermatology articles and manufacturer guides, not the original sources. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for shavers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best electric shaver in the Philippines?

Of the six we scored, the Xiaomi S200 (79/100, about ₱1,529) was best documented and cheapest. The Philips Series 1000 S1880 (76/100, about ₱1,896) is the pick from a shaving brand, and the Xiaomi S500 (73/100) has three floating heads.

Is an electric shaver better for razor bumps?

Dermatology sources say an electric shaver, which does not cut as close as a blade, is a reasonable alternative for razor bumps. Shaving less often and less closely helps most. It is not a cure.

Foil or rotary shaver?

Foil shavers are often liked for a close shave on short stubble, and rotary shavers follow curves and suit shaving every few days. It is mostly preference.

How often should I replace the shaver head?

About once a year, or sooner if the foil is damaged. Panasonic suggests about a year for outer foils and two for inner blades.

Can I use an electric shaver in the shower?

Only if it is rated for it. The Xiaomi S200 and the Philips Series 1000 are rated IPX7, while the others say "waterproof" or "showerproof"; read the manual.

Is Braun available on Shopee?

We found Braun only through Korea and Japan import shops at ₱3,100 to ₱17,700, with no local warranty stated, so we did not score them.

Is the Philips Series 5000 worth ₱6,836?

We could not tell. The listing's description is for the Series 3000 and gives no specification, and it has 10 ratings.

How do I clean an electric shaver?

Rinse a waterproof shaver after each use, do a deeper clean every few shaves, and let it dry. Do not tap the foil on a hard surface.

Are the ₱500 "German" shavers any good?

We did not score them. They are from unknown brands with "German imported" wording, big discounts and no specification.

Do electric shavers need FDA registration?

We found no FDA registration category for them in the portal we use, so there is no FDA match to report. Look instead for the warranty and a verified shop.
