Our verdict
Pick the cleanser by your skin’s problem, not by gender: oily and acne-prone skin does best with a mild salicylic acid wash, and dry or sensitive skin with a fragrance-free, non-medicated one. Of the nine we scored, all with an exact FDA notification and sold by a brand or Shopee-run store, Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser (87/100) was best for acne-prone skin, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (82/100) for sensitive, dry skin, and Human Nature Natural 2-in-1 Men’s Face Wash (81/100) for men.
The lowest scores went to listings that contradicted themselves: Physiogel (67/100) is tagged fragrance-free but lists fragrance and three parabens, and Nivea Men Extra Bright (60/100) promises whitening a foam cannot deliver. A cleanser does not treat eczema or severe acne; those need a doctor. This is general information, not medical advice.
Shopee sells thousands of face washes, from ₱30 sachets to ₱3,500 clinic brands, and most of the cheapest are unbranded “acne removal” or “whitening” washes with no registration number. We kept to established brands with a matching FDA notification, read each listing in full and scored it, with picks for the usual special cases: acne-prone or oily skin, dry or sensitive skin, and men’s skin that gets shaved.
9 of 9
cleansers we scored have an exact FDA notification, yet most still lost points for specification errors, missing ingredient lists or claims without a study, and CeraVe has had about a dozen FDA advisories on its products. A notification shows the product was notified, not that the listing is accurate.

Which cleanser for which skin
| If your skin is | Look for | Our picks |
|---|---|---|
| Oily or acne-prone | A gentle wash, with or without a mild salicylic acid; avoid scrubs on inflamed skin | Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne (87), COSRX Low pH (77), CeraVe Blemish Control (75); non-medicated: Cetaphil Daily Facial (78) |
| Dry, sensitive or eczema-prone | Fragrance-free, soap-free, no acids or scrubs; patch-test first | Cetaphil Gentle Skin (82), CeraVe Hydrating (79); Physiogel (67) if you accept its fragrance and parabens |
| Men who shave | A non-comedogenic wash before shaving, used with warm, not hot, water | Human Nature Men’s 2-in-1 (81) for oily skin; any fragrance-free pick above if shaving irritates |
| Women and men alike | The same rules; “for men” and “for women” are marketing, and skin type and skin concerns decide | Every pick except the two men’s washes is unisex |
| Severe or cystic acne, or eczema | A doctor; a cleanser is not a treatment | See a dermatologist |
What dermatologists advise about washing your face
These points come from search summaries of American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) pages on acne and shaving and a few grooming and retail sites, which we treated cautiously, not from the original pages. Treat them as general advice.
- Wash gently, up to twice a day and after sweating. The AAD’s acne advice is to use a gentle, non-abrasive cleanser applied with your fingertips, not washcloths or sponges.
- Over-washing can make acne worse. The same advice warns that excessive washing can irritate the skin.
- Avoid harsh toners and exfoliants on acne-prone skin. They can dry the skin and make acne look worse, according to the AAD advice we read.
- Medicated washes need contact time. One dermatologist quoted says salicylic acid needs at least a minute on the skin to work; other sites give 30 seconds to a minute or longer. The sources disagree, so follow the label.
- Fragrance-free and hypoallergenic labels are common advice for sensitive skin. The source was a retail blog, so treat it as a pointer, and patch-test any new cleanser on a small area.
- Acids can irritate eczema-prone skin. We did not find a source on this, so ask a dermatologist before using a salicylic acid wash if you have eczema.
- Before shaving, wash with a non-comedogenic cleanser. The AAD’s razor-bump advice says this, along with shaving with the grain, using light pressure, using a moisturising shave product and changing blades after 5 to 7 shaves.
- Use warm, not hot, water. A dermatologist quoted in a grooming roundup warns hot water can dry the skin.
- See a doctor if products do not help. Persistent or severe acne, or irritation that does not settle, needs a dermatologist.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Dermatologist tested”, “developed with dermatologists” | That a dermatologist was involved in testing or design | No standard; it does not mean a dermatologist recommends it for your skin |
| “Clinically proven”, “clinically tested” | A study the brand ran or paid for | The CeraVe Blemish figure came from 48 people; no listing links a study |
| “Hypoallergenic”, “non-comedogenic” | A formulation goal | Not regulated terms; they do not guarantee no reaction or no breakouts |
| “Fragrance-free” | No added fragrance | Check the ingredient list: Physiogel is tagged fragrance-free but lists “parfum” |
| “Non-chemical”, “99.99% natural” | Marketing wording | Every cleanser is made of chemicals; natural ingredients can irritate |
| “pH balanced”, “low pH” | An acidic-leaning formula | We could not verify any pH figure from the listings |
| “Whitening”, “10x more effective than vitamin C” | A brightening claim | A wash-off foam is on the skin for under a minute; no study is given |
| “Removes 99% dirt including acne-causing bacteria” | A cleansing claim | The maker’s figure; no test is given |
Face wash listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| LANBENA, BREYLEE, SKINEVER, Greenika and similar “acne removal” salicylic washes, ₱199 to ₱500 | Many near-identical washes with “salicylic acid”, “whitening” and “oil control” claims, often at 50 to 87% off list. We did not read them in full. | Brands we did not check against the FDA portal; not scored |
| CeraVe, Neutrogena and Nivea from non-official shops | FDA has warned about unauthorized CeraVe, Neutrogena and Nivea products, mostly other items. | Buy from the brand’s official store |
| Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel and FOREO Luna | Premium and device-type products at ₱1,400 to ₱3,600 | Outside this guide |
| Bundles and “buy 1 take 1” sets | Same wash sold in sets at different sizes and prices, which makes a per-100 comparison hard | Compare cost per 100 ml or g |
Our picks

87/100
Best for acne-prone and oily skin
1. Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser, 100 g (Kenvue Official Store)
ShopeeExact FDA notification
0.5% salicylic acid
Full ingredient list
₱314 per 100 g
| FDA status | A notified “Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser” exists (JNTL Consumer Health), NN-1000014716750, valid to June 2028, and a later notification NN-1000016758794. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. The advisories we found for the brand name other Neutrogena products (a water cream, an intense-repair product and 2021 aerosol sunscreens), not this cleanser |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: water, glycerin, sodium cocoyl glycinate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, cocamidopropyl betaine, salicylic acid, phenoxyethanol, fragrance, o-cymen-5-ol and others |
| Claims | “Removes 99% dirt, including acne-causing bacteria”, 0.5% salicylic acid with IPMP (o-cymen-5-ol), “skin pH friendly”, “dermatologist tested”, non-comedogenic |
| Inconsistencies | Skin type is ticked for acne-prone, combination, dry, normal and oily at once |
| Seller | Kenvue Official Store: 9 years on Shopee, 2M ratings, 1.1M followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 10K+ ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱314 for 100 g (list ₱337) |
The best-documented acne cleanser we found: an exact FDA notification, a full ingredient list, directions and warnings, and an official brand store behind it. Salicylic acid at 0.5% is a mild strength meant for daily use, and the foam is described as pH-friendly.
It is a medicated wash, so it can dry or sting skin that is already irritated, and it contains fragrance. The “99% dirt” and “dermatologist tested” lines are the maker’s claims, with no test in the listing. It does not treat severe or cystic acne; that needs a doctor.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification and a full ingredient list
- Official store, 10K+ sold, ₱314 per 100 g
- Mild 0.5% salicylic acid for daily use
Watch-outs
- Contains fragrance and a medicated ingredient; not for already irritated or eczema-prone skin
- Cleansing claims are the maker’s own
- Does not replace treatment for moderate or severe acne

82/100
Best for sensitive, dry skin
2. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, 236 ml (Cetaphil Flagship Store)
ShopeeExact FDA notification
Fragrance-free
Full ingredient list
~₱239 per 100 ml
| FDA status | A notified “Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser” exists (Galderma Philippines), for example NN-1000013792957, valid to November 2027, with several other notifications for the same name. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. No FDA advisory found for the brand |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: aqua, glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, panthenol, niacinamide, pantolactone, xanthan gum, sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium benzoate, citric acid |
| Claims | “Clinically proven”, “hypoallergenic”, “dermatologist tested”, fragrance-free, paraben-free, non-comedogenic, “defends against the five signs of skin sensitivity” |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet says volume 250 ml and model “1 l” for a 236 ml bottle; skin-care benefits list “dullness” for a cleanser sold for sensitivity |
| Seller | Cetaphil Flagship Store: 7 years on Shopee, 866.5K ratings, 970.5K followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 10K+ ratings on this listing |
| Price | ₱565 for 236 ml |
A short, plain ingredient list with no fragrance, from the brand’s own flagship store with an exact FDA notification. It is the kind of mild cleanser with few ingredients that is a common starting point for sensitive or dry skin.
The listing has small errors (volume and model fields), and “clinically proven” and “hypoallergenic” are the brand’s words, with no study in the listing. At about ₱239 per 100 ml it works out cheaper per 100 than the acne wash above (₱314 per 100 g), though one is priced by volume and the other by weight, and it is not an acne treatment.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification, short fragrance-free ingredient list
- Flagship store with 866.5K shop ratings
- Suitable for dry and sensitive skin by its own description
Watch-outs
- Volume and model fields in the specifications are wrong
- “Clinically proven” and “hypoallergenic” are not backed by a study in the listing
- Not an acne treatment

81/100
Exact FDA notification

From ₱129
| FDA status | A notified “Human Nature Natural 2-in-1 Men’s Face Wash” exists (Gandang Kalikasan, Inc.), NN-1000016494247, valid to August 2027. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. FDA advisories for the brand concern other products and were lifted, or date from 2020 to 2023 |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed: aqua, decyl glucoside, coco-glucoside, glycerin, xanthan gum, bamboo stem extract, loofah fruit powder, peppermint oil and others |
| Claims | “99.99% natural ingredients”, alcohol-free, paraben-free, SLS/SLES-free, vegan, “gently exfoliates”, suitable for oily skin |
| Inconsistencies | Skin type says “all skin type” while the text says oily skin; the listing mixes sizes at ₱129 to ₱433 without stating them in the specifications |
| Seller | Human Nature Official Store: 5 years on Shopee, 853.9K ratings, 560.8K followers, 91% response; 4.9 stars from 3.1K ratings on this listing, 9K+ sold |
| Price | ₱129 to ₱433 depending on size |
A men’s wash for oily skin from a Filipino brand with an exact FDA notification, a printed ingredient list and an official store. It combines a surfactant wash with a loofah-powder scrub, and it has the lowest starting price in this guide.
The scrub and the peppermint oil can irritate skin that is freshly shaved, broken out or sensitive, so use it on intact skin and check how it feels. “99.99% natural” is a marketing figure, and natural ingredients can still irritate.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification and a printed ingredient list
- Official store with 9K+ sold
- Lowest starting price, from ₱129
Watch-outs
- Scrub particles and peppermint oil may irritate shaved or inflamed skin
- “99.99% natural” is not a safety claim
- Sizes and prices are mixed in one listing

79/100
Best for dry and eczema-prone skin
4. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin, 88/236/473 ml (CeraVe Official Store)
ShopeeExact FDA notification
Ceramides
Fragrance-free
Past FDA warning on fakes
| FDA status | A notified “Hydrating Cleanser” exists (Scent and Beaute, Inc.), NN-1000015510425, valid to November 2027. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. FDA warned in April 2022 against an unauthorized “CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser” (and in March 2022 an unauthorized foaming cleanser), and has issued about a dozen advisories on CeraVe products in all (serums, lotions, micellar water), so buy only from the official store |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: water, glycerin, cetearyl alcohol, phenoxyethanol, ceramide NP, ceramide AP, ceramide EOP, sodium hyaluronate, cholesterol and others |
| Claims | “Suitable for sensitive and eczema-prone skin”, “24-hour hydration”, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, developed with dermatologists |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet shows an expiry date of 03/21/2026, which has passed, and gives no volume or country |
| Seller | CeraVe Official Store: 18 months on Shopee, 51.2K ratings, 131.1K followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 3.7K ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱495 to ₱1,254 depending on size (₱495 for 88 ml) |
A cream-textured, non-foaming cleanser with ceramides, no fragrance and a full ingredient list, from the official store with an exact FDA notification. It is a sensible choice for dry or easily irritated skin.
The FDA has warned about unauthorized CeraVe products, including this cleanser in 2022, so the seller matters: use the official store. The expiry date in the specification sheet has passed, probably a stale field, but check the date on the bottle when it arrives. “Eczema-prone” is a suitability claim, not a treatment; see a doctor for eczema.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification and a printed ingredient list
- Ceramides, fragrance-free, non-foaming
- Official store with 10K+ sold
Watch-outs
- FDA warned about unauthorized copies of this cleanser in 2022; official store only
- Expiry date in the specifications has passed; check the bottle
- Larger sizes are cheaper per ml than the 88 ml bottle

78/100
Best non-medicated wash for oily skin
5. Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, 236 ml, gel to foam (Cetaphil Flagship Store)
ShopeeExact FDA notification
Gel to foam
Paraben- and sulfate-free
~₱216 per 100 ml
| FDA status | A notified “Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser” exists (Galderma Philippines), NN-1000013553875, valid to September 2027, and another, NN-1000012527046. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. No FDA advisory found for the brand |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Not printed in full; the description names vitamin B3, vitamin B5 and glycerin, and says the formula is free of parabens and sulfates |
| Claims | “Clinically proven to deep clean”, “hypoallergenic”, “for oily and combination skin”, “dermatologist recommended for sensitive skin” |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet says volume 400 ml and “travel size” for a 236 ml bottle, country America, and tags it anti-bacterial and antiseptic |
| Seller | Cetaphil Flagship Store: 866.5K ratings, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 10K+ ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱510 for 236 ml |
A gel that turns to foam, for oily and combination skin, without salicylic acid. That makes it a gentler daily option than a medicated acne wash for people who are oily but not breaking out much.
The listing is the weakest on its specification sheet: wrong volume, “travel size”, and antiseptic tags that the description does not support, and no full ingredient list. The brand and the exact FDA notification are solid.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification; flagship store with 10K+ sold
- Paraben- and sulfate-free gel-to-foam texture
- About ₱216 per 100 ml
Watch-outs
- Volume, size and antiseptic fields in the specifications are wrong
- No full ingredient list in the listing
- Not a treatment for acne

77/100
Exact FDA notification
0.5% BHA and tea tree oil
Thin specification sheet
From ₱241
| FDA status | A notified “COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser” exists (AADistribution Phils Inc), NN-1000015382868, valid to November 2027, and another from I-Jin International. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. The two advisories we found for COSRX name other products (a lip product and a pimple patch) |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Only three are named (BHA 0.5%, tea tree leaf oil 0.5%, styrax japonicus extract 5%); no full list |
| Claims | “Low pH”, “restores skin pH to around 5.5”, “daily mild cleanser for sensitive skin”, “12M+ sold” |
| Inconsistencies | The title says “for sensitive skin” while the formula contains BHA and tea tree oil; the specification sheet lists only brand, shelf life and ships-from |
| Seller | COSRX Official Store: 7 years on Shopee, 914.5K ratings, 1.3M followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 10K+ ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱241 to ₱356 across 20, 50 and 150 ml sizes (list ₱280 to ₱560) |
A popular gel cleanser with an exact FDA notification, from the brand’s own store, at a low price. It is a gentle-feeling acne option that costs less than the CeraVe and Neutrogena washes.
The listing does not print the full ingredient list, and the “for sensitive skin” line sits oddly beside a salicylic acid and tea tree formula; patch-test it if your skin reacts easily. We did not verify the pH claim.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification; official store
- Low price across three sizes
- Gel texture with 0.5% BHA for oily skin
Watch-outs
- No full ingredient list; only three ingredients named
- “For sensitive skin” next to BHA and tea tree oil
- pH claim not verified

75/100
Acne-prone skin, gel-to-foam
7. CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser, 88/236/473 ml (CeraVe Official Store)
ShopeeExact FDA notification
Salicylic acid

Spec sheet errors
| FDA status | A notified “Blemish Control Cleanser” exists (Scent and Beaute Inc.), NN-1000016285979, valid to June 2028. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. The FDA has warned about unauthorized copies of other CeraVe products, so buy only from the official store |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Not printed; the specification sheet says “Ingredient: other” and lists salicylic acid under ingredient preference |
| Claims | “Number of spots appear reduced by up to 34%” (6-week clinical study, 48 subjects), “94% agree skin feels clean”, “80% agree pores look clear” (self-assessment, 57 people) |
| Inconsistencies | Skin type lists “ageing”; ingredient preference lists “naturally derived” and “anti-oxidants” for a salicylic acid wash; condition field says “good” |
| Seller | CeraVe Official Store: 51.2K ratings, 131.1K followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars from 2.1K ratings on this listing, 8K+ sold |
| Price | ₱578 to ₱1,421 depending on size (₱578 for 88 ml) |
A gel-to-foam wash for blemish-prone skin with salicylic acid, from the official store with an exact FDA notification. It is a good fit if you want a ceramide-brand acne wash.
The “34% fewer spots” figure comes from a small study the brand ran on 48 people, and the percentage claims for “clean” and “clear pores” are self-reported. The listing does not print the ingredients, and the specification sheet has several wrong tags. It costs more per 100 ml than the Neutrogena wash.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification; official store
- Salicylic acid wash from a ceramide brand
- 8K+ sold with a 4.9 rating
Watch-outs
- Study is brand-run, 48 people; other figures are self-assessment
- No ingredient list; wrong tags in the specification sheet
- Higher cost per 100 ml than Neutrogena

67/100
Gentle, but check the ingredients
8. Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Dermo-Cleanser, 150 ml set of 2 (Physiogel Philippines)
ShopeeExact FDA notification

Fragrance-free claim conflicts
~₱231 per 100 ml
| FDA status | A notified “Physiogel Daily Moisture Therapy Dermo-Cleanser” exists (Zuellig Pharma Corporation), NN-1000015629211, valid to December 2028. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. No FDA advisory found for the brand |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed: water, PEG-75, cetearyl alcohol, disodium phosphate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, methylparaben, citric acid, butylparaben, propylparaben, parfum |
| Claims | “Hypoallergenic”, “non-chemical”, “soap-free”, “alcohol free”, “fragrance free” (specification sheet), “for dry and sensitive skin”, “also suitable for babies and children” |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet ticks fragrance-free, but the ingredient list ends in “parfum/fragrance” and contains three parabens; the ingredient field says N/A; country of origin is “Others” |
| Seller | Physiogel Philippines: 6 years on Shopee, 18.2K ratings, 22.2K followers, 73% response; 5.0 stars from 318 ratings on this listing, 969 sold |
| Price | ₱694 for two 150 ml bottles |
A well-known dry-skin brand with an exact FDA notification and a printed ingredient list, sold in a set of two. It is mild in texture and sold for dry, sensitive skin.
Its own ingredient list contradicts the specification sheet: it includes fragrance and three parabens, while the listing is tagged fragrance-free and “non-chemical”. If you avoid fragrance or parabens, this is not the cleanser for you, and the “also suitable for babies” line is not a claim we could verify. Parabens are permitted in cosmetics at limited levels, so this is a preference issue rather than a safety finding.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification and a printed ingredient list
- Mild, soap-free cleanser for dry skin
- Set of two at about ₱231 per 100 ml
Watch-outs
- Contains fragrance and three parabens despite the “fragrance free” tag
- “Non-chemical” is not a meaningful claim
- 73% response rate; smaller shop than the brand-store picks

60/100
Exact FDA notification
Whitening claim

₱274 per 100 g
| FDA status | A notified “Nivea Men Extra Bright Brightening Foam” exists (Beiersdorf Philippines, Inc.), NN-1000012642802, valid to July 2027. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. Advisories for the Nivea name concern other products |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Not printed |
| Claims | “Whitens 10x more effectively than vitamin C”, “skin is free from dark spots”, “detoxified and brightened” |
| Inconsistencies | The title says “Extra Bright” while the description says “Extra White Facial Foam” |
| Seller | Shopee Supermarket: 7 years on Shopee, 9.1M ratings, 1.1M followers; 4.7 stars from 108 ratings on this listing, 297 sold |
| Price | ₱274 for 100 g |
A mainstream men’s foam with an exact FDA notification, sold by a Shopee-run store. It is a cleanser first, and a cheap one.
The brightening claims are the problem: “10x more effective than vitamin C” and “free from dark spots” are not something a wash-off foam can promise, and the listing gives no study or ingredient list. The listing is also thin and uses two different product names.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification
- Mainstream brand; Shopee-run store
- ₱274 per 100 g
Watch-outs
- Whitening and “free from dark spots” claims are not credible for a wash
- No ingredient list; two product names in one listing
- Only 108 ratings on the listing
How to choose a face wash
- Start from your skin’s problem: oily and acne-prone, dry and sensitive, or shaved and irritated.
- Check the ingredient list for fragrance if your skin reacts easily, and for salicylic acid or scrubs if it is irritated.
- Look up the brand on the FDA verification site; a cosmetic should have a notification, and our guide shows how.
- Buy from the brand’s official store and check the size and price per 100 ml.
- Patch-test first, on a small area for a few days, before using a new cleanser on your whole face.
- Do not expect a cleanser to treat acne or eczema. Use it to wash, and see a doctor for the condition.
How we researched this guide
We searched Shopee for facial cleansers and face washes on October 14, 2026, kept established brands sold by their own, an official or a Shopee-run store, read nine listings in full and matched each product by name to the FDA’s public verification portal. We scored them with an adapted version of our published rubric: the first axis (25) is the FDA match and provenance, then disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not test any cleanser on skin.
The advice on washing comes from search summaries of AAD pages and some grooming and retail sites, not the original pages. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for cosmetics.

Of the nine we scored, Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser (87/100) was best for acne-prone skin, Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (82/100) for sensitive or dry skin, and Human Nature Natural 2-in-1 Men's Face Wash (81/100) for men.
What is the best face wash for oily and acne-prone skin?
Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser has the best documentation, with 0.5% salicylic acid and a full ingredient list. COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel and CeraVe Blemish Control are alternatives, and Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser is a non-medicated option.
What is the best face wash for sensitive skin?
Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (82/100) has a short, fragrance-free ingredient list. CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser (79/100) is another fragrance-free option. Patch-test any new cleanser.
Is there a face wash for eczema-prone skin?
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser says it is suitable for sensitive and eczema-prone skin, which is a suitability claim, not a treatment. Avoid acids and scrubs on eczema-prone skin and see a doctor.
Is there a difference between men's and women's face wash?
Mostly marketing. Skin type and concerns matter more than gender, so a men's wash and a unisex wash for the same skin type are comparable. Men who shave should wash with a non-comedogenic cleanser first and avoid scrubs on freshly shaved skin.
Is the FDA registration the same as approval?
No. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. A matching notification shows the product was notified, not that its claims are proven.
Is CeraVe safe to buy on Shopee?
The FDA has issued advisories on unauthorized CeraVe products, including the Hydrating Cleanser in 2022. The products we scored are notified, and we recommend buying only from the CeraVe Official Store.
How long should I leave a salicylic acid wash on?
Follow the label. One dermatologist quoted says about a minute; other sites say 30 seconds to a few minutes.
How often should I wash my face?
The AAD's acne advice is up to twice a day and after sweating, gently. Over-washing can irritate skin.
Why does Physiogel say fragrance-free but list parfum?
The specification sheet ticks fragrance-free while the ingredient list ends in "parfum/fragrance". Trust the ingredient list, and check the box if you avoid fragrance.
Are the cheap salicylic acid washes on Shopee safe?
We did not score them. They are from brands we did not check against the FDA portal, and many carry whitening claims.
Does a whitening face wash work?
A wash-off foam is on your skin for under a minute, and no listing gave a study for its brightening claim. We scored the Nivea Men foam lowest for this reason.
