Halloween light safety: what the US consumer safety agency says
These points come from the US Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Halloween safety tips (first published October 2022) and its button cell and coin battery release (2023). They are US guidance used here as general information; we did not find or check a Philippine equivalent, and this is not medical advice.
- Use battery-operated lights and glow sticks instead of candles; keep any open flame away from curtains and other combustibles.
- Use only lights tested by a recognised testing laboratory, inspect every set for damage and discard broken, frayed or loose ones.
- Button cell (coin) batteries can burn through a child’s throat or oesophagus in as little as two hours if swallowed, and the CPSC counted 27 deaths and an estimated 54,300 emergency-room injuries from 2011 to 2021.
- Keep products whose battery compartment has no screw closure away from children, and do not let children handle button cells.
- None of the five listings names a testing laboratory mark or says the battery door is child-resistant, so check the compartment yourself on arrival.

OSQ gives the full set of details a buyer needs: length, number of LEDs, voltage, battery type, colour and a switch. Its warm-white light and AA batteries mean no button cells and no plug. About 866 buyers rate it 4.88.
The “safe” and “not easy to burn” statements are the seller’s own words with no test behind them, and the warranty information contradicts itself. Choose the design before you pay, because the ₱89 shown first is only one of them.

- Compare cost per LED or light, not the set price: ₱8.90 and ₱10.90 on the two 10-light strings.

- Do not rely on “outdoor” unless a waterproof rating is stated; keep battery boxes dry.
