Our verdict
Gatorade Electrolyte Mix (73/100, about ₱15 per sachet) is our top pick on registration, seller and price, but check the sachet for sodium. Vivalyte (71) prints the clearest numbers, and Wheyl Hydra (69) has the most sodium per serving.
This guide covers sports electrolyte drinks registered as food. Oral rehydration salts (ORS) are registered as medicines for illness-related dehydration and are covered in our separate rehydration guide. This is general information, not medical advice.
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for electrolyte powders, drink mixes and sports drinks on October 20, 2026, by brand and by store, and looked each one up in the FDA Philippines food registry. We kept registered products sold by the brand’s shop, a Mall store, an official pharmacy or a long-standing shop.

Do pickleball players need electrolytes? What sports scientists say
These points come from the American College of Sports Medicine’s position stand Exercise and fluid replacement (Sawka and others, 2007). General information, not medical advice.
- Start play well hydrated: drink with normal meals and, when needed, beverages several hours before you play.
- While playing, the aim is to avoid losing more than about 2% of body weight from water loss, and to avoid large changes in electrolyte balance.
- Sweat rates and the amount of salt in sweat vary a lot between people, so the position stand recommends a personal plan rather than one rule for everyone.
- You can estimate your own sweat loss by weighing yourself before and after a session.
- Drinks with electrolytes and carbohydrates can help more than water alone in some situations; after play, the goal is to replace what you lost.
In practice (general advice, not from the position stand): for a short, casual game in the shade, water is usually enough. For long sessions, tournaments or outdoor play in Philippine heat, an electrolyte drink makes more sense, and the sodium figure on the label is the number to compare. If you feel dizzy, confused or stop sweating in the heat, stop playing and get help.
Sports electrolyte drink or ORS?
| Product | What it is for | How it is registered |
|---|---|---|
| Sports electrolyte drink or mix (Gatorade, Vivalyte, Wheyl, Pocari) | Replacing fluid and some salt lost in sweat during exercise | Food (FR- number) |
| Oral rehydration salts (ORS, e.g. Hydrite) | Dehydration from diarrhoea or vomiting | Medicine (household remedy or drug registration); see our rehydration guide |
| Electrolyte water (e.g. Lightwater) | Everyday drinking water with added minerals | Food; Lightwater advertises no added sodium, so it is not designed to replace sweat salt |
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Key electrolytes” (Gatorade) | Contains electrolytes | Without amounts, you cannot compare it with others |
| “Oral rehydration powder” (Vivalyte listing) | The seller’s description | Vivalyte is registered as a food drink mix, not as an ORS medicine |
| “Prevents cramping” (Wheyl) | Sodium’s role in fluid balance | Cramps have several causes; no evidence shown |
| “Turns water into fuel”, “life-changing hydration” | Marketing wording | No measurable meaning |
| “No sodium” (Lightwater) | Nothing salty added | Sweat loses mostly sodium, so a no-sodium water does not replace it |
| “FDA Approved” (Energy Echo listing) | The product is registered as food | The FDA registers foods; it does not approve them as effective |
Electrolyte listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Energy Echo Electrolyte Sports Solid Beverage | Registered (Cassiel Inc.) in lemon and grapefruit flavours, but the listing also sells an “Energy” flavour we could not match, has no description at all, shows an expiry date of 31 December 2026 and is titled “[FDA Approved]”. | Not scored: empty listing, near expiry |
| Lightwater Electrolyte Enhanced Water | Registered and sold by Suncoast Brands’ official shop, but it advertises no added sodium. Fine as drinking water; not built to replace sweat salt. | Not scored: not a sweat-replacement drink |
| HydroAid electrolyte drink (Unilab) | Registered (records to March 2027 and one to 2031) and sold by Unilab’s official shop, but the listing gives no electrolyte or sugar amounts, and 250 mL bottles cost about ₱62 each. | Not scored: no composition stated |
| Rosabella and unbranded “sugar-free hydration packets” | Cross-border sachets with no Philippine registration we could find. Searching “Rosabella” in the FDA portal also returned 2026 advisories relaying a US warning about Salmonella in moringa powder. | Not scored: no registration found |
| Imported Pocari powder and 100Plus from resellers | Pocari powders shipped from Japan or Korea, and 100Plus (registered by Suncoast) only from a reseller. | Not scored: cross-border or reseller |
| ORS sold as sports drinks | Oral rehydration salts are medicines for illness-related dehydration. | Not covered: see our rehydration and ORS guide |
Our picks

73/100
Powder sachets
Electrolyte amounts not stated
FDA-registered food
About ₱15 per sachet
| FDA status | Registered food: “ELECTROLYTE MIX – BLUE FROST FLAVOR”, brand Gatorade, Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Inc., FR-4000013680862, valid to 1 February 2030. No advisory found. |
| Specifications stated | 14 g sachets; 24 per pack; “formulated with key electrolytes to replace what you lose in sweat” |
| Claims | “Turns water into fuel”; “makes multiple servings” |
| Not stated | Sodium, potassium or sugar per sachet; how much water to mix with; ingredient list |
| Seller | Frito-Lay Official Store, PepsiCo’s official shop (on Shopee since August 2019, 293K followers, 4.88 shop rating, 100% response). Listing 4.95 from 670 ratings; search shows 3K+ sold. |
| Price | ₱360 for 24 sachets, about ₱15 per sachet (20 October 2026) |
Gatorade ranks first on what we could verify: an exact, current food registration, the brand owner’s own shop and the lowest price per serving, which matters if you play several matches a week. Sachets are easy to carry in a paddle bag.
Its weakness is the one that matters most for this guide: the listing does not say how much sodium or sugar a sachet contains, or how much water to mix it with. Check the sachet label for those figures before relying on it for long matches in the heat; Vivalyte and Wheyl, below, print them on Shopee.
Why it scored well
- Exact registration to 2030
- Brand owner’s shop
- Cheapest per serving
Watch-outs
- No sodium or sugar figures on the listing
- Water per sachet not stated
- No ingredient list

71/100
184 mg sodium per 200 mL
3 g sugar per sachet
FDA-registered food
About ₱27.65 per sachet
| FDA status | Registered food: “ELECTROLYTE DRINK MIX – ORANGE FLAVOR”, brand Vivalyte, Taisho Pharmaceuticals (Philippines) Inc., FR-4000014257380, valid to 12 June 2031. No advisory found. |
| Specifications stated | Per 4.6 g sachet: sodium 184 mg, potassium 160 mg, carbohydrates 4 g, sugar 3 g; 1 sachet in 200 mL water; up to 5 sachets in 1 L a day; full ingredient list; made in Japan; shelf life 24 months |
| Claims | Title “Oral Rehydration Powder”; lists Hydrite Oral Rehydration Salts and Pedialyte as “Equivalent Generics / Analogs”; “helps prevent dehydration” |
| Inconsistencies | The attributes list magnesium and zinc, which are not in the ingredient list. Vivalyte is registered as a food drink mix, not as an oral rehydration salt. |
| Seller | MedsGo, an official pharmacy shop (on Shopee since November 2023, 5.4K followers, 4.88 shop rating, 90% response). Listing 4.97 from 116 ratings; search shows 559 sold. |
| Price | ₱553 for 20 sachets, about ₱27.65 per sachet (20 October 2026) |
Vivalyte gives the clearest numbers of any listing we read: sodium, potassium, carbohydrate and sugar per sachet, the full ingredient list and how much water to use. Mixed as directed, that is 184 mg of sodium in 200 mL, or about 920 mg per litre by our calculation, with little sugar. It is made by Taisho and registered as a food.
The seller’s copy oversells it. Calling it an “oral rehydration powder” and listing a registered ORS medicine as an “equivalent generic” blurs the line between a sports drink and a treatment for diarrhoea or vomiting; for illness, see our rehydration and ORS guide. The magnesium and zinc in the attributes do not appear in the ingredients.
Why it scored well
- Sodium, potassium and sugar stated
- Low sugar (3 g per sachet)
- Registered to 2031
Watch-outs
- Sold as “oral rehydration powder” (it is a food drink mix)
- Attributes list minerals not in the ingredients
- Small pharmacy shop

69/100
500 mg sodium per serving
Potassium and magnesium
FDA-registered food
About ₱30.80 per serving
| FDA status | Registered food, one record per flavour: “PURE ELECTROLYTES (SODIUM + POTASSIUM + MAGNESIUM)”, Wheyl Nutrition Co.: Lychee Splash FR-4000014432291, Grape Slush FR-4000014535004, Pink Lemonade FR-4000014538801 (2028), Peach Squeeze FR-4000015764492 (to March 2029). No advisory found. |
| Specifications stated | Per serving: sodium 500 mg, potassium 200 mg, magnesium 60 mg; 60 servings; four flavours |
| Claims | Sodium “prevents cramping”; “life-changing hydration” |
| Not stated | Serving size in grams, water per serving, sugar or sweetener, ingredient list |
| Seller | topformph, a regular shop on Shopee since January 2020 (60K followers, 4.91 shop rating, 96% response); it does not say whether it is Wheyl’s own store. Listing 4.94 from 113 ratings. |
| Price | ₱1,849 for 60 servings, about ₱30.80 per serving (20 October 2026) |
Wheyl Hydra gives the most sodium per serving of the four (500 mg), plus potassium and magnesium, and each flavour has its own current registration. For a player who sweats heavily through long sessions in the heat, it is the most electrolyte-dense option on the list.
The listing does not say how much water a serving is meant for, how big a scoop is, or whether it contains sugar or a sweetener, so you cannot work out its strength or calories from Shopee. “Prevents cramping” is stated as fact; cramps have several causes, and no evidence is given. It is the most expensive per serving.
Why it scored well
- Most sodium per serving
- Registered per flavour
- Large tub for regular players
Watch-outs
- Water per serving not stated
- No sugar or ingredient information
- “Prevents cramping” claim

66/100
Ready-to-drink bottles
Bottle size not stated
FDA-registered food
About ₱53.80 per bottle
| FDA status | Otsuka-Solar Philippines holds several registrations for “ION SUPPLY DRINK” (e.g. FR-4000015941282, valid to 11 March 2031). The listing does not give the bottle size, so we cannot match the exact record. No advisory found. |
| Specifications stated | 6 bottles; “replenish fluids and ions”; product of Japan |
| Claims | “Beverage for playing sports, working, or taking a hot bath” |
| Not stated | Bottle size, sodium, sugar, ingredients |
| Seller | S&R Membership Shopping, Shopee Mall (on Shopee since May 2019, 1.44M followers, 4.91 shop rating, 99% response). Listing 4.94 from 10,408 ratings; search shows 50K+ sold. |
| Price | ₱323 for 6 bottles, about ₱53.80 per bottle (20 October 2026) |
Pocari Sweat is the ready-to-drink option: no mixing, easy to keep in a cooler courtside, from a Mall store with more than 10,000 ratings and a brand with several current registrations.
The listing tells you almost nothing: not the bottle size, sodium, sugar or ingredients. Read the bottle. It is also the most expensive per serving of the four, and bottles are bulkier to carry than sachets.
Why it scored well
- Ready to drink
- Mall store; over 10,000 ratings
- Registered brand
Watch-outs
- Bottle size not stated
- No sodium or sugar figures
- Most expensive per serving
How to choose an electrolyte drink for pickleball
- Compare sodium per serving and per litre. Vivalyte gives 184 mg per 200 mL; Wheyl gives 500 mg per serving; Gatorade and Pocari do not say on Shopee, so read the pack.
- Check sugar if you play casually or watch calories; Vivalyte states 3 g per sachet.
- Match the drink to the session: water for short, easy games; an electrolyte drink for long sessions, tournaments or outdoor play in the heat.
- Weigh yourself before and after a long session to learn how much you lose (ACSM).
- Look up the exact product in the FDA verification portal. All four picks are registered as food.
- Compare price per serving: about ₱15 (Gatorade) to ₱53.80 (Pocari bottle) on 20 October 2026.
- For dehydration from illness, use an ORS as advised by a doctor or pharmacist, not a sports drink. This is general advice.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list for electrolyte powder, electrolyte drink mix and Pocari Sweat on October 20, 2026, then searched Shopee by keyword and by brand and read each listing in full. We looked each brand up in the food registry and advisories of the FDA Philippines verification portal. We scored products with our published rubric: provenance and registration (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not taste or test any product.
No pick reaches 90: the two listings with the strongest sellers give no sodium figures, and the two that do give them oversell their products. The hydration section is general information, not medical advice. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best electrolyte drink for pickleball players in the Philippines?
In our review Gatorade Electrolyte Mix scored highest (73/100) on registration, seller and price, at about ₱15 per sachet. Vivalyte prints the clearest sodium and sugar figures, and Wheyl Hydra has the most sodium per serving.
Do I need electrolytes for pickleball?
For short, easy games, water is usually enough. For long sessions or play in the heat, the ACSM says drinks with electrolytes and carbohydrates can help more than water alone in some situations.
How much should I drink during a match?
The ACSM aims to prevent losing more than about 2% of body weight from water loss and recommends a personal plan, because sweat rates differ. Weigh yourself before and after play to estimate yours.
Which electrolyte drink has the most sodium?
Of our picks, Wheyl Hydra Pure states 500 mg of sodium per serving. Vivalyte states 184 mg per 200 mL sachet; Gatorade and Pocari do not state sodium on Shopee.
Is Vivalyte an oral rehydration salt?
It is registered as a food electrolyte drink mix, not as an ORS medicine, even though the seller calls it an "oral rehydration powder".
Can I use ORS instead of a sports drink?
ORS are medicines designed for dehydration from diarrhoea or vomiting. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before using them for sport; see our rehydration and ORS guide.
Is electrolyte water like Lightwater enough?
Lightwater advertises no added sodium, so it does not replace the salt lost in sweat during long, hot sessions.
Are electrolyte drinks FDA approved?
They are registered as food (FR- numbers). Registration is not approval of a claim; all four picks have current registrations.
Which is cheapest per serving?
Gatorade Electrolyte Mix at about ₱15 per sachet on 20 October 2026, then Vivalyte (₱27.65), Wheyl (₱30.80) and Pocari bottles (₱53.80).
Are sugar-free electrolyte packets better?
Sugar-free suits casual play or calorie watching. For long sessions, the ACSM notes carbohydrates with electrolytes can help in some situations. Check that the product is registered.
What are the signs of heat illness on court?
Dizziness, confusion, nausea or stopping sweating in the heat are warning signs. Stop playing, cool down and get medical help if they do not pass quickly. This is general advice.
Did you test these drinks?
No. We read the listings, checked the shops and the FDA registry, and scored what the sellers put in writing.
