Our verdict

Anmum Materna Chocolate (72/100, ₱473 for 375 g) is the only lactation-label product we found whose listing name matches an FDA food record word for word from the brand’s Mall store, and Enfamama A+ (69/100, ₱460) is the other registered maternal milk. Mother Nurture (66/100) is the best-known lactation drink mix, and Mama Blends (65/100, ₱18.50 a sachet) is the cheapest.

No listing reached 90. We could not find a registry record for the lactation cookies we saw, so none is ranked, and we left out capsules and gummies (registered as food supplements; outside this guide). We repeat no listing’s promise of more milk: the evidence for herbal “milk boosters” is weak, and a mother who is worried about supply should see a doctor or lactation nurse. This is general information, not medical advice.

We searched Shopee for lactation tea, drink mixes, cookies and maternal milks on October 30, 2026, read the listings from Mall and long-standing shops, and looked each product up in the FDA Philippines food registry and its advisories. We kept products whose own name matches a current food record.

330 to 400

extra calories a day is what the US CDC says well-nourished breastfeeding mothers generally need. None of the five listings states how its sachet or serving fits that: only Mama Blends gives calories (64 a sachet). Source: CDC page on maternal diet and breastfeeding, read through a search summary on 30 October 2026.

Lactation foods: what the health agencies say

These points come from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and from reviews of herbal milk boosters, as read through a search summary. They are general information, not medical advice.

  • Breastfeeding mothers need more energy, not special foods. The CDC says well-nourished mothers generally need an extra 330 to 400 calories a day and need not avoid particular foods; it recommends a healthy, varied diet (CDC, maternal diet and breastfeeding).
  • Drink to thirst. The CDC says forcing extra fluids does not help milk supply; one study found drinking 25% above thirst slightly reduced it.
  • Caffeine in moderation. The CDC gives about 300 mg a day, roughly 2 to 3 cups of coffee, as a low-to-moderate intake. Coffee-based mixes count toward it.
  • Herbal “milk boosters” have weak evidence. The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine does not recommend any specific galactagogue, and a review of trials found few high-quality studies and mixed results for herbs such as fenugreek, with possible side effects (review of herbal and pharmaceutical galactagogues).
  • Emptying the breast often is considered the best-supported way to increase milk production, according to the same sources.
  • What the listings say: three of the five tell mothers the product will help supply or milk production. None names a study.

What the claims on these listings actually mean

“Lactation drink”The seller’s label on Mother Nurture and Mama BlendsThe FDA names read “drink mix”, not “lactation”

Lactation food listings we would be careful with

ProductWhat we foundOur check
Lactation cookies and “bombs”, ₱99 to ₱1,358 (RCG, Belle’s Cookies Bakeshop, LaFamilia and others)Freshly baked in small batches. We found no FDA food product record for RCG or Belle’s Cookies Bakeshop (the portal returned only licence-to-operate entries for RCG); Belle’s shop has five items. Several make “milk booster” claims. Not scored (no registry record found)
M2 Malunggay Lactation Tea Drink and M2 Tea Drink, ₱70 to ₱305 (70K sold on one listing)A very large seller, but we found no registry record under the M2 name; the portal returns only the first matches, so ask the shop for the FR number. Not scored
Carica Malunggay Roots and Leaves Tea, ₱185The brand holds a malunggay tea record (FR-4000010741236). The listing shows “lemon grass” as flavour and ingredient and lists about two dozen diseases under “for the treatment of”, including cancer and diabetes, then says no approved therapeutic claims. That is a drug-style claim on a food. Not scored; do not rely on the claims
Mama Blends 8 in 1 Lactation Coffee, ₱148 (Dr. Dudu PH and others, 10K+ sold)We found a record for the brand’s chocolate mix, not for the coffee. Not scored
Lactation capsules and gummies (Lactacare, Lactamed, Natalac Forte, Optimum Balance and others)Registered as food supplements with no approved therapeutic claims, in capsule or gummy form. Outside this guide; ask a doctor or lactation nurse. Not covered

Claims“Increase the chances of normal delivery … lower the chances of stillbirth, neonatal deaths, illnesses and congenital malformations”; “one of the best supplements for pregnant women”
MissingA nutrition table, sugar per serving

Price₱473 for 375 g, ₱126 per 100 g, about ₱53 per 42 g serving

The only pick whose listing name matches an FDA record word for word, sold by the brand’s Mall store and rated by more than 7,000 buyers. It is a milk drink for mothers, not an infant formula, and it states how to mix it.

The listing then overreaches: it says the milk will lower the chances of stillbirth and neonatal death, which no milk powder listing can promise, and it gives no sugar figure. Treat it as a nutrition drink, not as something that raises milk supply.

Why it scored well

  • Exact FDA record, valid to July 2028
  • Brand’s Mall store, 7,243 ratings
  • Mixing instructions stated

Watch-outs

  • Stillbirth and delivery claims with no study
  • No nutrition table or sugar figure
  • Written for pregnancy, not lactation

A maternal milk with three current FDA records and a listing that says plainly it is for breastfeeding moms, from the brand’s official Mall store. It is the one pick that states less sugar for the chocolate version, though without a number.

The comparison claims (“highest DHA”, “less sugar vs leading brand”) name no figure, the expiry attribute is years old, and with three chocolate records on file we cannot say which one covers this pack. Ask the shop for the batch expiry date.

Why it scored well

  • Official store; FDA records valid to 2028 to 2031
  • Written for breastfeeding moms
  • 8,546 ratings

Watch-outs

  • Comparison claims with no figures
  • Expiry attribute 02/24/2023

No advisory found. The registry names do not mention lactation
Specifications stated7 sachets a box, 200 g; “stevia, malunggay, ashitaba, gotu kola”; Halal; no artificial flavours, no preservatives, no GMO, no soy; made in the Philippines
Claims“BFAD and FDA approved”; sold as a “lactation drink / aid”
MissingGrams per sachet, amount of each herb, caffeine in the coffee flavour, a nutrition table
InconsistenciesThe FDA names list malunggay and the drink type, not ashitaba or gotu kola; the FDA does not “approve” food
Sellervaliannestrends (Shopee Mall): joined 2017, 64,685 followers, 64% response; 4.9 stars from 9,989 ratings on this listing, 50K+ sold; the text says “official authorized reseller”
Price₱190 coffee, ₱220 salted caramel, ₱228 chocolate for 7 sachets; ₱27 to ₱33 a sachet

All three flavours match an FDA food record by name, the Mall store has nearly 10,000 ratings, and the brand is one of the best-known in the category. You can work out a price per sachet, which most lactation drink listings do not allow.

The listing says “FDA approved”, which is not how FDA Philippines works, and the registry names mention malunggay, not the other herbs the text lists. There is no amount for any herb, so the word “lactation” is the seller’s, not the registry’s. The coffee flavour contains caffeine.

Why it scored well

  • Registered under the product’s own name
  • Mall store, 9,989 ratings
  • Price per sachet can be worked out

Watch-outs

  • “FDA approved” wording
  • No herb amounts or nutrition table
  • Coffee flavour has caffeine

Honest disclaimer; thin shop and generic registration

Disclaimer

₱148

FDA status“Powdered Chocolate Drink Mix”, Mama Blends, FR-4000014174423, Cechesca Corp., valid to 9 October 2028. The name is generic (it does not say 6 in 1 or lactation), so this is a brand-level match. No advisory found
Specifications statedMalunggay, fennel and ginger; stevia; non-dairy creamer; locally sourced cocoa; 8 sachets a box; 64 calories a sachet
Claims“Help aid in boosting your milk supply” with the disclaimer “milk supply depends on many factors … we do not guarantee increase in milk supply”
MissingGrams per sachet, sugar, amounts of each herb, the six ingredients behind “6 in 1”
SellerMama Blends Philippines (regular shop): joined 2019, 787 followers, 0% response, 30 items; 4.8 stars from 32 ratings on this listing, 162 sold
Price₱148 for 8 sachets, ₱18.50 a sachet

The cheapest per sachet, with a calorie figure and the only disclaimer in this guide that says outright it does not guarantee more milk. That candour earns points.

The registry name is generic, the shop is small and does not reply to chats, and the “6 in 1” is not spelled out. Ask the shop for the registration number printed on your box.

Why it scored well

  • ₱18.50 a sachet
  • Calories stated; no guarantee of supply
  • Brand holds a current FDA record

Watch-outs

  • Registry name does not say 6 in 1
  • Shop response rate 0%; 32 ratings
  • No sugar or herb amounts

Exact FDA name; strongest supply claims

Specifications statedDecaffeinated Robusta coffee, stevia, almond milk, blessed thistle, cumin, fennel seed, moringa
Claims“Enhances milk production”; each herb “traditionally used to support lactation”; “may help increase milk supply”
MissingSachets per box, grams, amounts of each herb, how much caffeine remains in “decaf”
Sellerlactaglow (regular shop): joined May 2024, 9,518 followers, 69% response, 6 items; 4.9 stars from 4,315 ratings on this listing, 20K+ sold
Price₱429 a box; price per sachet cannot be worked out

The exact registry name matches, and the listing lists every ingredient, so you can see what you would be drinking. A decaf option for mothers who want coffee.

It makes the strongest supply claims in the guide (“enhances milk production”) and names no study. The box size is not stated, so the price per cup is unknown, and the shop is two years old with six items.

Why it scored well

  • Registered under its exact name
  • Full ingredient list
  • Decaffeinated

Watch-outs

  • “Enhances milk production” with no evidence
  • Box size and herb amounts not stated
  • Shop two years old, six items

How to choose a lactation food

  • Start with the basics. Eat a varied diet with enough calories, drink to thirst, and feed or pump often. If supply worries you, see a doctor or a lactation nurse before buying a product.
  • Look the exact product name up in the FDA verification portal. A record means the food is registered; it does not mean it raises supply. “FDA approved” is not an FDA phrase.
  • Read the sachet, not the claim. Compare calories, sugar and herbs per serving. Only Mama Blends gives calories here.
  • Count the caffeine. Coffee-based mixes count toward the CDC’s 300 mg a day.
  • Check the price per serving. Here it ranges from ₱18.50 to ₱53.
  • Ask about herbs. Fenugreek, blessed thistle, fennel and moringa are in some mixes. If you take medicine, have a thyroid or blood-sugar condition or a plant allergy, ask your doctor first.
  • Check the expiry date on arrival. One listing shows an expiry field in 2023.
  • Skip listings that promise a result or a list of diseases, and baked goods with no registry record.

How we researched this guide

We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for lactation tea, lactation cookies, drink mixes and maternal milk on October 30, 2026, then searched by brand (Anmum, Enfamama, Prenagen, Mother Nurture, Mama Blends, Lactaglow, Mommy Co, Carica) and checked each shop. We identified each shop (Mall status, year joined, followers, ratings, response rate), read the full listings and looked each product up in the FDA Philippines verification portal, including advisories. We scored five with our published rubric: provenance and registration (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). Claims about milk supply cost points under the claims axis. We did not taste or test any product.

The portal returns only the first matches for a word, so a product we list as “not found” may be registered under a name we did not try; ask the shop for the registration number. The CDC and review points come from a search summary, not from the full pages. This is general information, not medical advice. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best lactation food in the Philippines?

Of the five we could match to an FDA Philippines food record, Anmum Materna Chocolate (72/100, ₱473 for 375 g) has the best registry match, and Enfamama A+ (69/100) is the other maternal milk. None is proven to raise milk supply.

Do lactation drinks and cookies really increase milk supply?

We found no study named on any listing. The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine does not recommend any specific galactagogue, and reviews of herbal ones found few good trials and mixed results. Frequent breast emptying is considered the best-supported way to build supply.

Is "FDA approved" on a lactation drink true?

FDA Philippines registers food; it does not approve it. A registration means the food product is on the register, not that it increases milk. Check the exact name in the FDA portal.

How many extra calories do I need while breastfeeding?

The US CDC says well-nourished mothers generally need about 330 to 400 more calories a day, depending on age, weight, activity and how much the baby is breastfed.

Can I drink coffee while breastfeeding?

The CDC gives about 300 mg of caffeine a day, roughly 2 to 3 cups of coffee, as low-to-moderate. Coffee-based lactation mixes count toward it; the Lactaglow decaf listing does not say how much caffeine remains.

Is a maternal milk the same as infant formula?

No. Anmum Materna and Enfamama A+ are milk drinks for mothers. Infant formula is a different product and is outside this guide.

Do I need to drink more water to make more milk?

The CDC says to drink to thirst; forcing extra fluids does not help supply.

Why are there no lactation cookies in the ranking?

We found no FDA food record for the popular cookie sellers, so none met our reliability rule. They may be registered under a name we did not search; ask the seller for the number.

Are malunggay and fenugreek safe?

Ask your doctor. Reviews report possible side effects for fenugreek, and the listings give no amount for any herb. This guide does not recommend an herb.

Can I take these with other medicine?

Ask your doctor or pharmacist; we cannot say. Herbal mixes have no stated amounts, so interactions cannot be checked from the listing.

What about capsules and gummies?

Lactation capsules and gummies are registered as food supplements with no approved therapeutic claims. We did not review them; ask a doctor or lactation nurse.

Which is cheapest?

Mama Blends at ₱18.50 a sachet. Per 100 g the two maternal milks cost ₱126 (Anmum) and ₱131 (Enfamama); their serving prices are not stated except Anmum's 42 g (about ₱53).
