Our verdict
For a child with heat rash, the product to buy is usually nothing: keep the skin cool and dry, dress the child in thin cotton, and wash with plain lukewarm water until the rash clears. Pediatric pages we read say powders, creams and ointments do not help and can make a heat rash worse. Once the skin is clear, a gentle wash helps keep sweat and dirt off a child in humid heat. Of the six baby washes we scored, Human Nature Natural Baby Wash (81/100) had the best paper trail and value, Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash (80/100) the most restrained listing, and Mustela Gentle Soap (79/100) the most candid about its evidence.
The bigger risk on Shopee is the “prickly heat” products. The popular Hegerbaby bath soak and lotion are notified with the FDA only to “soothe and refresh” or “moisturize”, yet their listings say they “treat rashes”, “boost immunity” and “relieve prickly heat rash”. A cosmetic cannot treat a rash. If a rash lasts more than a few days, looks infected, or comes with a fever, see a doctor; a baby under 3 months with a fever needs urgent care. This guide covers skin care only, not medicines. This is general information, not medical advice.
Heat rash, also called prickly heat or miliaria, happens when sweat is trapped under the skin, and children get it easily because their sweat ducts are narrow and their bodies cool less efficiently. With El Niño bringing a long, hot and humid season to the Philippines, many parents will see tiny red bumps on a child’s neck, back, chest or skin folds. This guide sets out what pediatric health pages advise, then checks the baby washes and the “prickly heat” products sold on Shopee against FDA Philippines records and what each listing says.

of the best-selling “prickly heat” products on Shopee, the Hegerbaby Herbal Baby Bath Soak and Ricepure Baby Lotion, are notified with the FDA only to “soothe and refresh” or “moisturize”, yet their listings promise to treat rashes, boost immunity and relieve prickly heat rash.

What pediatric pages advise for heat rash in children
These points come from search summaries of MedlinePlus, KidsHealth, Banner Health and university health-system pages, which are consumer health pages, not formal clinical guidelines. Treat them as general advice and ask your pediatrician about your own child.
- Keep the child cool and dry. This is the central advice. Use a fan or air-conditioning, with a fan placed so that only a gentle breeze reaches an infant, and keep the room from getting stuffy.
- Dress lightly. Thin, loose cotton is absorbent and lets moisture away from the skin. Overdressing and bundling are common triggers in babies.
- Skip powders, creams and ointments on the rash. MedlinePlus advises avoiding them, saying baby powders do not improve or prevent heat rash; creams and ointments keep the skin warmer and can block the pores.
- Bathe in plain lukewarm water, about once a day, and KidsHealth says to avoid soap until the rash has gone. A cool, thin, clean cloth on the rash for 5 to 10 minutes a few times a day, then letting the skin air-dry, is the usual home care.
- Keep fingernails short so a child does not scratch the rash, and give plenty of cool drinks.
- Talcum powder is a separate worry. The American Academy of Pediatrics has long advised keeping talc out of the nursery because a baby can inhale it, as press coverage of its guidance reports. In July 2024 the cancer agency IARC rated talc “probably carcinogenic” (Group 2A); that rating concerns mainly genital use and ovarian cancer, not babies, but it is another reason not to reach for talc.
- See a doctor if the rash lasts more than a few days, gets worse, looks infected (red, warm, swollen or oozing), or comes with a fever. A baby under 3 months with a rectal temperature of 38 C (100.4 F) or more needs urgent care, and a fever with a rash should not be assumed to be heat rash.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “Relieves prickly heat rash”, “treats rashes” | A treatment claim | A cosmetic cannot treat a rash. Pediatric pages say heat rash clears with cooling, and see a doctor if it does not |
| “Boost immunity”, “cold symptoms” | A health claim | Nothing in a bath product or its FDA notification supports it |
| “Tear-free”, “pH-balanced” | A description of the formula | It says the wash should not sting eyes; it says nothing about whether it suits skin with a rash |
| “Hypoallergenic”, “dermatologist tested” | A brand statement | Not a guarantee that a child will not react. Patch test a new product on a small area |
| “Pediatrician-approved” | An endorsement | Without a name or a study it cannot be checked |
| “Natural”, “organic”, “non-chemical” | Marketing words | Everything, including water, is a chemical. A shop ticking “organic” does not make a soap organic |
| “Fragrance-free” next to “parfum” on the ingredients | A contradiction | Read the ingredient list; fragrance is a common irritant on sensitive skin |
| “Whitens”, “brightens skin tone” on a baby product | A cosmetic claim | There is no need to change a child’s skin colour, and we did not rank any product that sells it |
Prickly heat products we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| Hegerbaby Herbal Baby Bath Soak, ₱159 to ₱289 (10K+ sold); title: “Boost Immunity & Cold Symptoms & Treats Rashes” | The FDA notification for “Hegerbaby Bath Soak” (KMH Merchandise Corp., valid January 2029) says it “helps soothe and refresh baby’s delicate skin”. The listing’s title promises to boost immunity, ease cold symptoms and treat rashes. It prints no ingredient list, and says “NOT ALLOWED FOR G6PD” (G6PD deficiency is a blood enzyme condition). We did not rank it. | Claims go far beyond the notification |
| Hegerbaby Ricepure Baby Lotion, 50 ml, from ₱149; title: “Relieves Prickly Heat Rash … Whitens” | Notified “to moisturize skin”. The listing says it relieves and treats prickly heat and drool rash, tells you to apply it on the rash, and “whitens and brightens the skin tone”. Pediatric pages advise against creams and lotions on a heat rash. The spec ticks “fragrance-free” and “anti-bacterial”; the same listing says “NOT ALLOWED FOR G6PD”. The ingredient list contains six herbal extracts, including licorice root. | Treatment claims on a cosmetic; against pediatric advice |
| Hegerbaby Baby Powder 120 g | Notified “to gently refresh baby’s skin”. Pediatric pages say baby powders do not improve or prevent heat rash, and the AAP’s talc warning is about inhalation. We did not check whether it contains talc. | Powders do not treat heat rash |
| Kamay ni Nanay Rash Cream, 100 ml, ₱279 to ₱310; “for baby’s rashes” | A rash cream sold to treat baby rashes. We did not read the listing or search the FDA record in full, and diaper-rash creams may be drug products. | Not covered; ask a pediatrician |
Our picks
These are baby and kids’ washes for a healthy child’s bath, which keep sweat and dirt off the skin in humid heat. They are not heat rash treatments, and if a child has an active heat rash, the advice above is plain lukewarm water, no soap, until it has gone.

| FDA status | Several notified “Human Nature Natural Baby Wash” and “Natural Cica Baby Wash” records exist (Gandang Kalikasan, Inc.), for example NN-1000016373164 (valid June 2028) and NN-1000015831126 (valid February 2028). The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: water, glycerin, sodium C12-18 alkyl sulfate, sodium cocoyl isethionate, coco-glucoside, calendula extract, betaine, tocopherol, fragrance and others |
| Claims | “99.64% natural”, “SLS/SLES-free”, “no parabens, silicones or synthetic fragrance”, “helps support baby’s skin barrier”; “100% experienced no adverse reactions” and “93% agreed it made baby’s skin feel soft”, footnoted as a consumer panel test |
| Seller | Human Nature Official Store: 5 years on Shopee, 853K ratings, 560K followers, 88% response; 4.9 stars, 10K+ sold |
| Price | From ₱199 for the lowest option, which we take to be 190 ml, about ₱105 per 100 ml; sizes go up to 1 L and we did not confirm each price |
The best documented wash we found: the brand’s own store, an exact-name FDA notification, a full ingredient list, modest claims about cleansing and the skin barrier, and a satisfaction figure that carries a footnote saying it came from a consumer panel. It is also the cheapest per 100 ml of the branded options if the ₱199 price is the 190 ml bottle.
One thing does not add up: the text says “SLS/SLES-free”, yet the ingredient list includes sodium C12-18 alkyl sulfate, an alkyl sulfate of the same family, and “fragrance” while the text says no synthetic fragrance. The brand may have its own reasons, such as a plant-derived source, but a parent with a sensitive child should read the list rather than the slogan. Like every cleanser here, it is for a healthy child’s bath, not a treatment for a rash.
Why it scored well
- Brand’s own store, strong ratings
- Notified by name; full ingredient list
- Footnoted consumer-panel claims; low price per 100 ml
Watch-outs
- “SLS/SLES-free” text vs an alkyl sulfate on the list
- “Fragrance” on the list while the text says no synthetic fragrance
- Price of each size not confirmed

Full ingredient list
About ₱152 per 100 ml
| FDA status | The listing prints “FDA#: NN-1000000714803”. We did not find that number in the portal, but Galderma Philippines has notified several “Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash and Shampoo” records, for example NN-1000013614297 (valid October 2027). No FDA advisory found for Cetaphil. The portal’s lists are capped, so “not found” is not proof that a record does not exist |
| Registration number in listing? | Yes, but not matched |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: water, cocamidopropyl betaine, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, glycerin, coco-glucoside, panthenol, parfum, phenoxyethanol and others |
| Claims | “Cleanses baby’s delicate skin from head-to-toe, while providing daily protective moisturization”; no “hypoallergenic” or treatment claims in the text |
| Other details | Country of origin Germany; shelf life 30 months |
| Seller | Watsons Official Store: 8 years on Shopee, 13.9M ratings, 7.2M followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱607 for 400 ml, about ₱152 per 100 ml |
A restrained listing from a large retailer’s official store: it prints the ingredients, the origin, the shelf life and an FDA number, and it makes no claims beyond cleansing and moisturising. It is the only one of the six that prints a notification number at all.
The number it prints is not one we could find, so we cannot confirm it, although the brand has other notified baby washes with the same name. It also contains fragrance and phenoxyethanol, which some parents prefer to avoid. Most other Cetaphil Baby listings in the search are small third-party shops, several with prices such as ₱95 to ₱165 for what is sold as a 400 ml set, which are too low to be the real product; buy from the Watsons or Cetaphil store.
Why it scored well
- Official retailer store; 100% response
- Ingredients, origin and shelf life printed
- Plain claims; no advisory found
Watch-outs
- The printed FDA number was not found in the portal
- Contains fragrance and phenoxyethanol
- Many look-alike third-party listings at very low prices

| FDA status | Notified “Mustela Gentle Soap with Cold Cream” records exist (Pharmasafe Inc.), NN-1000011246087 (valid May 2027) and “Gentle Soap with Cold Cream” NN-1000015712195 (valid January 2029) |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed in full: sodium palmate, sodium palm kernelate, water, parfum, glycerin, barley extract, beeswax, ceramide NP, avocado extract and others |
| Claims | “Even newborns” (babies out of NICU), “dermatologist tested”, “97% ingredients of natural origin”; “97% of parents find that the soap cleans their baby’s skin gently”, from a test on 60 children over 3 weeks, described as parents’ self-assessment |
| Specifications | Tick “organic”, “non-chemical”, “alcohol-free” and “hypoallergenic”; the listing says “with fragrance” |
| Seller | Mustela Philippines: 9 years on Shopee, 334K ratings, 259K followers, 70% response; 5.0 stars from 4.4K ratings, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱360 for a 100 g bar |
The most candid about its evidence: the “97% of parents” figure is labelled as parents’ self-assessment on 60 children, not as a clinical result. The exact product is notified, the ingredients are printed, and the brand has a long record in infant skin care.
It is a soap bar, which is more alkaline than a liquid cleanser, and it contains fragrance, so it is not the first choice for a child whose skin is already irritated. The specifications tick “organic” and “non-chemical” for a palm-based soap bar; those ticks do not describe what is in it. At about ₱360 per 100 g it is the dearest of the six.
Why it scored well
- Notified by exact name
- Discloses how its parent-satisfaction figure was measured
- Full ingredient list
Watch-outs
- A soap bar with fragrance
- “Organic” and “non-chemical” ticks do not fit the ingredients
- About ₱360 per 100 g; 70% response rate

| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Not listed. The text names chickpea, green gram and fenugreek |
| Claims | “Tear-free, pH-balanced cleanser designed for newborns and infants”, “soap-free”, “free from parabens and silicones”, “clinically tested for safety”; the title says “SLS free” |
| Seller | Himalaya shop: 7 years on Shopee, 81.3K ratings, 129K followers, 100% response; 5.0 stars from only 43 ratings, 148 sold |
| Price | ₱310 for the buy-1-take-1 deal, which we take to be two 200 ml bottles, about ₱78 per 100 ml |
The best value per 100 ml of the branded washes, from the brand’s own shop, with an exact-name FDA notification. The claims are modest, and “soap-free” and “tear-free” are descriptions of the formula, not of results.
The listing is short: no ingredient list, and “clinically tested for safety” with no detail on what was tested. Only 43 ratings, so it has far less of a track record than the others. If the bundle arrives as one bottle, the price per 100 ml doubles; check the listing for what is in the parcel.
Why it scored well
- Lowest price per 100 ml of the branded washes
- Notified by exact name
- Plain claims
Watch-outs
- No ingredient list
- “Clinically tested” without detail
- Only 43 ratings; buy-1-take-1 wording

Old FDA advisories on other Biolane products
| FDA status | A notified “Biolane Gel Lavant Corps et Cheveux / Body and Hair Cleanser” exists (Skyheglobal Inc.), NN-1000014265656 (valid May 2028). Four 2020 FDA advisories name other Biolane products as unnotified or unauthorized cosmetics: a micellar water, a sun cream, a body-and-bath oil spray and a water-based paste |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Printed: water, lauryl glucoside, cocamidopropyl betaine, coco-glucoside, glyceryl oleate, parfum, citric acid, sodium benzoate, tocopherol and others |
| Specifications | Tick “fragrance-free”, “alcohol-free”, “paraben-free” and “baby organic”; the text says “delicately scented” and the ingredient list includes parfum |
| Expiry | Dates given by size: 200 ml June 2028, 350 ml September 2028, 50 ml and 750 ml November 2028 |
| Seller | Biolane Philippines: 9 years on Shopee, 13.7K ratings, 21K followers, 100% response; 5.0 stars from 1.1K ratings, 5K+ sold |
| Price | ₱346 for the smallest option, up to ₱1,764; we did not confirm each size |
A notified product from the brand’s own shop, with clear no-tears, pH and “free from soap, parabens, phenoxyethanol” claims, and expiry dates for each size, which most listings omit.
The specifications say “fragrance-free” while the text says “delicately scented” and the ingredients include parfum. The FDA’s 2020 advisories concern other Biolane products, not this one, and the wash has been notified since; they are a reason to buy only from the brand’s own shop. Prices run from ₱346 to ₱1,764 depending on the size, so check the size you click.
Why it scored well
- Notified by exact name
- Expiry date for each size
- Brand’s own shop; 100% response
Watch-outs
- “Fragrance-free” tick vs parfum on the list
- Old advisories on other Biolane products
- Price by size is confusing

Body wash ingredients not printed
| FDA status | A notified “Kleenfant 4-in-1 Baby Body Wash 300ml” exists (Kleenfant Corp.), NN-1000015112966 (valid August 2028). The listing also sells kids’ shampoos and other body wash variations that we did not match one by one |
| Registration number in listing? | No |
| Ingredients | Only the shampoo’s list is printed (water, potassium cocoate, coco-glucoside, aloe, lavender, avocado oil, honey extract, mild fragrance and others); the body wash list is not |
| Claims | “Pediatrician-approved”, “safe for all skin types”, “coconut oil … provides anti-inflammatory effects”, “lavender extract helps control dandruff and soothes itchy scalp”; “No sulfates, chlorine, parabens or phthalates” |
| Specifications | Tick “non-chemical” and “hypoallergenic”; the body wash is for ages 6 months and up, the shampoos for 3 and up |
| Seller | Kleenfant: 5 years on Shopee, 3M ratings, 2M followers, 100% response; 4.9 stars, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱69 after voucher for one 300 ml refill pack, about ₱23 per 100 ml; we did not confirm the price of each variation |
By far the cheapest per 100 ml, from a large, well-rated Philippine baby brand, and the body wash is notified with the FDA. A refill pouch also produces less plastic than a bottle.
It is the weakest on information: one listing mixes a body wash (6 months and up) with kids’ shampoos (3 and up), prints only the shampoo’s ingredients, and makes claims we would not take at face value: “pediatrician-approved” without saying who, coconut oil with “anti-inflammatory effects”, lavender that “controls dandruff”. Those are the kind of claims a cosmetic should not make. Check which variation you select, as the 6-months-and-up body wash is the one for babies and toddlers.
Why it scored well
- About ₱23 per 100 ml
- Body wash notified by name
- Large seller, 100% response
Watch-outs
- Body wash ingredients not printed
- “Pediatrician-approved” and anti-inflammatory claims
- Six variations in one listing
How to keep a child comfortable in the heat
- Dress for the heat, not the clock. One thin cotton layer in a hot room; change a sweaty shirt right away, as damp cloth keeps the skin wet.
- Bathe after sweating. A quick lukewarm rinse after play, then pat dry, paying attention to the neck, armpits, elbows, knees and diaper area.
- Choose a mild, fragrance-free wash if you use one, in a small amount, and rinse well. Check the ingredient list on a new wash and test it on a small patch first.
- Leave out powders, thick creams and ointments on skin that is already rashy or very sweaty unless a doctor says otherwise.
- Cool the sleeping space. A fan that does not blow directly on a baby, lighter bedding, and a mattress cover that breathes.
- Buy from the brand’s own store or a store you trust. Skip listings with prices far below the brand’s own shop and with promises to cure rashes.
- See a doctor for a rash that spreads, blisters, weeps, looks infected, does not improve in a few days, or comes with a fever, and for any rash in a baby under 3 months.
How we researched this guide
We searched Shopee for baby washes and prickly heat products on October 13, 2026, read eight listings in full (six scored, two reviewed under the claims table) and scored the six with our published rubric: FDA notification (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We searched the FDA Philippines verification portal for cosmetic notifications and advisories under each brand. The FDA notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. Only one listing prints a notification number, so we matched the others by brand and name. The portal’s lists are capped, so a record we did not find is not proof that none exists.
The advice on heat rash comes from search summaries of MedlinePlus, KidsHealth, Banner Health and university health-system pages, and the talc points from press coverage of the American Academy of Pediatrics and IARC, not the original documents. This guide does not cover medicines, and we did not review sun-care or diaper-rash creams. We have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for baby products. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best baby wash for heat rash?
None treats a heat rash. Pediatric pages say to keep the child cool and dry, dress them in thin cotton and bathe in plain lukewarm water, with no soap until the rash clears. For a healthy child's bath afterwards, Human Nature Natural Baby Wash (81/100) and Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash (80/100) scored best.
What causes heat rash in babies and children?
Sweat trapped under the skin when the sweat ducts are blocked. Children get it easily because their sweat ducts are narrow and they cool less efficiently, especially in hot, humid weather or when overdressed.
How long does heat rash last?
It usually clears within a few days once the child is kept cool and dry. See a doctor if it lasts longer, gets worse or looks infected.
Should I put powder on my baby's heat rash?
The pages we read say no. MedlinePlus says baby powders do not improve or prevent heat rash. The American Academy of Pediatrics has also advised against talc in the nursery because of the risk of inhalation.
Can I put lotion or cream on heat rash?
MedlinePlus and KidsHealth advise avoiding creams and ointments on a heat rash because they can trap heat and block the pores. A moisturiser is for dry skin, not for a heat rash.
Is the Hegerbaby bath soak safe for heat rash?
We could not verify it. It is notified with the FDA only to soothe and refresh skin, but the listing says it treats rashes and boosts immunity. The listing also says it is not for children with G6PD deficiency. Ask a pediatrician before using herbal products on a baby.
Is talc-free baby powder OK?
One pediatric Q&A we read said talc-free powders still carry an inhalation risk and do not treat rashes. We would leave powders off a heat rash.
Should I use soap on a baby with heat rash?
KidsHealth says to use plain lukewarm water and no soap until the rash has gone. After that, use a mild, fragrance-free wash in small amounts.
How can I tell heat rash from something else?
Heat rash usually shows as tiny red or clear bumps in sweaty areas, such as the neck, chest, back and skin folds. A rash that blisters, spreads, itches badly, looks infected or comes with a fever may be something else, so see a doctor.
Are Cetaphil Baby washes on Shopee real?
The Watsons Official Store listing we read is a major retailer's official store. Many other listings are small third-party shops, some at ₱95 to ₱165 for what is sold as a 400 ml set, which looks too low to be the real product.
What should I do for a baby under 3 months with a rash?
See a doctor. A baby under 3 months with a rectal temperature of 38 C (100.4 F) or more needs urgent care.
Does El Niño make heat rash worse?
Heat and humidity make heat rash more likely, so a long hot season means more cases. The remedies are the same: keep the child cool, dry and in light clothes.
