Our verdict
A sheet mask is a hydration treat, not a treatment: it makes skin look plumper for a few hours, so buy for the ingredient list, the notification and the price per sheet, and ignore the “glass skin” promises. Of the six we scored, all FDA-notified and sold by official stores, the Torriden Dive In sheet mask (84/100, about ₱171 a sheet) is the best documented, the Some By Mi Retinol Intense mask (81/100, about ₱75 a sheet) prints its retinol strength, and the Skintific Niacinamide Brightening box (78/100, about ₱16 a sheet) is the cheapest per sheet.
We skipped the hundreds of unbranded “100% authentic Korean style” masks at ₱7 to ₱70 and any listing that says “FDA approved”, because the FDA notifies cosmetics but does not approve them. Patch test a new mask first. This is general information, not medical advice.
Face masks come in several types: wet sheet masks soaked in serum, hydrogel masks that you can wear for hours, and wash-off clay or cream masks. Shopee lists thousands. We kept to wet and hydrogel masks from brands with an exact FDA cosmetic notification, sold by their own or an official store, and compared what each listing states, claims and costs per sheet.

Face masks: what the evidence says
These points come from search summaries of dermatology articles and brand pages, not from the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) pages themselves. Treat them as general advice.
- Sheet masks give temporary hydration. Dermatologists quoted in the articles we found say most of the actives stay on the surface, so the glow does not last, and that a mask is an add-on to a routine, not a replacement for it.
- The benefit comes from occlusion. A sheet holds the serum against skin so more of it is absorbed than a serum left to dry. Follow with a moisturizer to lock the hydration in.
- Follow the time on the pack. Directions we read ranged from 5 to 20 minutes for sheet masks and 3 to 5 hours or overnight for hydrogel masks. Longer is not better.
- Fragrance and essential oils are the usual irritants. People with sensitive or rosacea-prone skin are advised to avoid heavy fragrance, and to patch test a new mask on the neck or inner arm first.
- Brand “clinically tested” claims are weak evidence. One sheet-mask test we found was commissioned by the maker, on 30 people, with one 24-hour application.
- Retinol masks need care. Sources for these are mostly brand pages. They advise starting once a week, wearing sunscreen the next morning and asking a doctor first if you are pregnant or have sensitive skin.
- Do not use a mask on broken or sunburned skin, and see a doctor for a rash that spreads, swells or burns.

How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for face masks on October 15, 2026. The offer list was mostly unbranded mask packs and a few Korean brands, so we widened to Shopee search and brand searches and kept masks from the brand’s own or an official store that we could match to an exact FDA cosmetic notification in the FDA Philippines verification portal. We read the listings in full and scored them with our published rubric: FDA status and provenance (25), disclosure of ingredients and sizes (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not use any mask.
The evidence points come from search summaries of dermatology articles and brand pages, not the AAD pages. This guide is general information, not medical advice.
