Our verdict

For outdoor pickleball, the Belo SunExpert Body Shield SPF60 scored highest (83/100, ₱530 for two 100 ml bottles), and the Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Spray (76/100, ₱715 for two cans) is the pick if you want a stated 80-minute water resistance. Add a face stick such as Seoul White Korea’s (64/100, ₱499) for touch-ups between games.

Every pick is notified with FDA Philippines; we left out resellers, listings whose SPF does not match any notification, and products sold only by shops with scrambled titles. No sunscreen is “waterproof”, whatever the listing says. This is general information, not medical advice.

On October 21, 2026 we searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for sport, water-resistant and stick sunscreens, read every listing in full and looked each product up in the FDA Philippines cosmetic notification register. This guide is about sweat, water and reapplying on court; for everyday face sunscreens, see our main sunscreen guide, which covers different products.

2 of 5

Ranked listings that state water resistance in minutes (Anessa and Banana Boat, both 80). Belo and NIVEA just say “water resistant”, and their attributes say “Waterproof”. The Seoul White stick makes no claim either way.

Sweat, water and sunscreen: what the guidance says

These points come from the US Food and Drug Administration’s consumer page on sunscreen and the American Academy of Dermatology’s pages on how to apply sunscreen and how to use stick and spray sunscreens. US labelling rules do not govern Philippine labels, but they show what a tested claim looks like. General information, not medical advice.

  • “Waterproof” does not exist: the US FDA says there is no such thing as waterproof sunscreen, because all sunscreens eventually wash off.
  • Water resistance is tested and comes in minutes: a US “water resistant” label must say whether the sunscreen stays effective for 40 or 80 minutes when swimming or sweating. A listing that says “water resistant” with no minutes has not told you which.
  • Reapply at least every two hours, and immediately after heavy sweating (AAD). On court that usually means between sessions, and after you towel off.
  • Choose SPF 30 or higher, broad-spectrum and water-resistant (AAD). All five picks state SPF 50 or more.
  • Use enough: most adults need about 1 ounce, roughly a shot glass, for the body, and it takes about 15 minutes to protect, so put it on before you get to the court (AAD).
  • Do not forget the ears, neck and lips; the AAD recommends a lip balm with SPF 30 or more.

Sprays and sticks on court

From the AAD page on stick and spray sunscreens. General information.

  • Spray close to the skin until it glistens, then rub it in to catch missed spots.
  • Do not spray near your face or mouth and do not inhale it: spray into your hands and apply to the face.
  • Avoid spraying on windy days; on a windy court, use a lotion or a stick instead.
  • Keep sprays away from heat and flames and let them dry before going near a grill or a smoker.
  • With a stick, make four back-and-forth passes over each area, then rub it in.

Sport sunscreen listings we would be careful with

ProductWhat we foundOur check
Banana Boat “SPF 110” and “SPF 100” face and body lotions from regular shopsPopular at ₱156 to ₱369 from resellers. The Banana Boat notifications we found (McKenzie Distribution) are for SPF 50, 50+ and 100 products; we found none for SPF 110.Not scored: SPF not matched; resellers
Banana Boat Sport Ultra Lotion SPF50 90 ml (Banana Boat & Schick PH)Notified products exist under this name, but the listing claims “4-hour water-resistance”, calls the lotion “this convenient spray” and gives the Philippines as country of origin. Not scored: contradictory listing
Sunplay Sport UV Body Mist SPF 120Notified (NN-1000001637280, to 19 December 2026), but on Shopee we found it only from shops with scrambled titles and 0 sold, not from Mentholatum’s store. Not scored: unreliable sellers
Sunplay Ultra Shield UV Body Mist SPF 130 (The Mentholatum Company)Official store and notified (NN-1000001637466), but the notification ends on 19 December 2026 and the listing does not state the size. The Sunplay lotion is covered in our main sunscreen guide. Not scored: notification ends in two months; size not stated
Hello Glow Sun Care Stick (₱210, 13K+ ratings)The listing says SPF 60+ PA++. The Hello Glow sticks we found notified (Alpha-Melight and Bakuchiol) are SPF 50+; we did not find the original stick. Not scored: SPF not matched
blk Universal Tinted Sunscreen StickThe closest notification is “Tinted Sunscreen Primer Stick SPF 50 PA++”; the listing gives no PA rating and no water resistance claim. Not scored: name and rating not matched
Bioré UV Athlizm, Neutrogena Sport and Beach DefenseSold only by resellers and “direct from Japan” or US-import shops, one listing showing “EXP 7/28”; no brand store sells them on Shopee. Not scored: no official seller
Anessa Milk below the official priceListings from ₱270 to ₱1,429 against ₱1,951 at the official store; the Sasa store is located in Hong Kong. Not scored: buy from the official store
Unbranded “professional sports” and “surfing grade” sunscreensOffer-list items with no brand, “waterproof sweatproof” titles and SPF 100+ claims, and a new shop (Verasol, joined February 2026, 79 followers) claiming “Waterproof 80 min”.Not scored: unverified brands

FDA-notified

₱2.65 per ml

FDA statusNotified: Belo Sun Expert Body Shield SPF 60, NN-1000013579439 (Intelligent Skin Care, Inc.), valid to 15 July 2027. No advisory found naming it.
Specifications statedSPF 60, PA+++; key filters zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, avobenzone (butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane) and octinoxate (ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate); fragrance-free, paraben-free; 100 ml; made in the Philippines; 36-month shelf life
Claims“Comfortable to wear even during strenuous outdoor activities”, “water-resistant” (no minutes), “Clinically proven safe for sensitive skin”, “Bee Venom – increases your blood circulation, collagen, and elastin production”
InconsistenciesIt lists “Panthenol – Vitamin E acetate”; panthenol is provitamin B5. An attribute says “Waterproof” while the text says water-resistant. Only key ingredients are listed, not the full formula.
SellerBelo Essentials, Shopee official shop (on Shopee since August 2016, 1.03M followers, 4.92 shop rating, 100% response). Listing 4.91 from 16,090 ratings; 50K+ sold.
Price₱530 for Buy 1 Take 1 (two 100 ml bottles) on 21 October 2026: ₱2.65 per ml

Belo’s Body Shield is the only pick that names its UV filters, and the mix covers both UVA and UVB: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide plus avobenzone and octinoxate. The notification matches the product name exactly, the shop has been on Shopee for ten years, and the listing tells you to reapply after “perspiring” and “toweling”, which is exactly what happens between pickleball games. At ₱2.65 per ml it is also the cheapest per ml, which matters when the AAD says an adult body needs about a shot glass per application.

“Water-resistant” comes with no minutes, so treat it as untested for our purposes and reapply often. The bee venom claim about circulation and collagen is marketing, and “Panthenol – Vitamin E acetate” is simply wrong (panthenol is provitamin B5), which says something about how carefully the listing was written. It is a body lotion; for the face, a stick or a face sunscreen is easier to reapply.

Why it scored well

  • Exact FDA notification match
  • UV filters named
  • Lowest price per ml; 16K+ ratings

Watch-outs

  • Water resistance has no minutes
  • Bee venom claim is marketing
  • Ingredient errors in the text

FDA statusNotified: Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Sunscreen Continuous Spray SPF 50+ PA++++, NN-1000007162931 (McKenzie Distribution Co., Inc.), valid to 10 January 2027. No advisory found naming it.
Specifications statedBroad-spectrum UVA/UVB, SPF 50+, “water-resistant for up to 80 minutes”, cooling, non-greasy, 170 g per can, Buy 1 Take 1
Claims“Instantly cool and refresh the skin on contact”, “suitable for sports and outdoor activities”
Not statedIngredients, PA rating, spray and flammability warnings, expiry date; whether the shop is the brand’s distributor
SellerBanana Boat & Schick PH, a regular shop without Shopee’s official badge that describes itself as the “Official Store of Banana Boat and Schick” (on Shopee since May 2025, 1,337 followers, 4.91 shop rating, 30% response). Listing 5.0 from 16 ratings; 201 sold.
Price₱715 for Buy 1 Take 1 (two 170 g cans) on 21 October 2026: ₱2.10 per g

This is one of only two listings we read that state water resistance in minutes, and 80 minutes is the longest a tested US label can claim. The notification matches the product name, and at ₱2.10 per gram for two cans it is the cheapest pick per gram. A spray is quick to reapply on arms, legs and the back of the neck between games.

The shop is young (May 2025), has no official badge and a 30% chat response rate, so it scores low on seller record. The notification ends on 10 January 2027; check that it has been renewed. The listing gives no ingredient list and no spray warnings. Follow the AAD advice below: spray until the skin glistens, rub it in, keep it off your face and do not use it in strong wind.

Why it scored well

  • 80-minute water resistance stated
  • Lowest price per gram
  • Spray is fast between games

Watch-outs

  • Young shop, no official badge, 30% response
  • No ingredient list
  • Notification ends 10 January 2027

FDA statusNotified: Nivea Sun Protect & Dry Touch Refreshing Mist SPF50 UVA/UVB, NN-1000013833191 (Beiersdorf Philippines, Inc.), valid to 28 January 2027. No advisory found naming it.
Specifications statedSPF 50, UVA/UVB filters, transparent, non-greasy, cooling, “water resistant” (no minutes), 200 ml, made in Thailand, 12-month shelf life
Claims“Highly effective UVA/UVB protection system”, “works from all angles”, “leaves no white marks”
InconsistenciesThe description calls it “Protect & Refresh Spray”. Attributes say “Formulation = cream”, “Quantity per Pack = 2” and “Anti Odour, Anti Perspiration”. An attribute says “Waterproof” while the text says water resistant.
SellerNIVEA Philippines, Shopee official shop (on Shopee since May 2018, 1.13M followers, 4.91 shop rating, 100% response). Listing 4.87 from 1,885 ratings; 6K+ sold.
Price₱883 for 200 ml on 21 October 2026: ₱4.42 per ml

If you want a spray from a brand-run store, this is it: NIVEA Philippines’ own official shop, a notification from Beiersdorf Philippines that matches the product, and almost 1,900 ratings. A 200 ml can is a sensible size for a court bag, and the clear, non-greasy finish suits players who hate the feel of lotion on their hands before gripping a paddle.

The listing is the sloppiest of the five: it calls itself a different product in the text, and the attributes describe a cream, a two-pack and an antiperspirant. “Water resistant” has no minutes. There is no ingredient list. The notification runs to 28 January 2027, so check it again before buying late in the year.

Why it scored well

  • NIVEA’s own official store
  • Matching FDA notification
  • Clear, non-greasy spray

Watch-outs

  • Water resistance has no minutes
  • Attributes contradict the product
  • No ingredient list
Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Skincare Milk SPF50+ 60 ml (anessaphilippines)

₱32.52 per ml

FDA statusClose match: “ANESSA PERFECT UV SUNSCREEN SKINCARE MILK” is notified by Duty Free Philippines Corporation (NN-1000015841909, valid to 27 January 2028); Shiseido’s distributor Luxasia notifies a “Silky Finish SPF50+ PA++++ W” version (NN-1000016711731). The listing does not say which one it sells. No advisory found naming it.
Specifications stated“Proven water-resistant after 80-minute pool time”; for face and body; fruity floral fragrance; works as a primer; washes off with soap or cleanser; made in Japan; 60 ml
Claims“Anessa’s UV Protection veil increases with sweat, water, heat and even moisture (humidity)”, “Prevents vasodilation which advances skin aging”
InconsistenciesAttributes say “Weight = 0.09g” and “Formulation = serum” for a 60 ml milk. No ingredient list or PA rating in the text.
Selleranessaphilippines, Shopee official shop (on Shopee since April 2022, 59K followers, 4.92 shop rating, 100% response). Listing 4.91 from 1,325 ratings; 5K+ sold.
Price₱1,951 for 60 ml on 21 October 2026: ₱32.52 per ml

Anessa’s listing is the most explicit about sport conditions: it states a water-resistance test (80 minutes in a pool) and says the product is for face and body. It comes from an official Anessa store with more than 1,300 ratings. If you play long morning sessions and sweat heavily, it is the one listing that describes a test relevant to that.

It costs ₱32.52 per ml, more than twelve times the Belo, and at the AAD’s shot-glass amount a 60 ml bottle covers only about two full-body applications. The “veil gets stronger with sweat and heat” claim is the brand’s own; the listing gives no test for it. We could not tell which notified version this shop sells, and the listing has no ingredient list. Shops selling Anessa far below ₱1,951 are not the official store; see the table above.

Why it scored well

  • States an 80-minute water test
  • Face and body in one
  • Official Anessa store

Watch-outs

  • Highest price per ml by far
  • Importer of the notified version unclear
  • “Gets stronger with sweat” is the brand’s claim

Specifications statedSPF 50, PA++++, UVA/UVB; 20 g; matte, no white cast; fragrance-free, paraben-free; white strawberry, ceramide, hyaluronic acid; apply over face and neck
Claims“The first ever brightening sun stick”, “Long-wearing”, “Brightening”
Not statedUV filters or full ingredient list; any water or sweat resistance; when to reapply
SellerSeoul White Korea PH, Shopee official shop (on Shopee since November 2018, 204K followers, 4.87 shop rating, 87% response). Listing 4.86 from 2,447 ratings; 8K+ sold.
Price₱499 for 20 g on 21 October 2026: ₱24.95 per g

A stick is the easiest way to put sunscreen back on your face, ears and the back of your neck between games without getting lotion on your paddle hand. This one has an exact notification match, a long-standing official store and more than 2,400 ratings, and it states both SPF 50 and PA++++.

It makes no water or sweat resistance claim at all, so it is a top-up, not your main layer for a sweaty session. The listing names no UV filters. “Brightening” is a cosmetic claim, not sun protection. Per gram it is expensive; use it for the face and a body product for arms and legs. The AAD advises four back-and-forth passes over each area, then rubbing it in.

Why it scored well

  • Exact FDA notification match
  • SPF 50 and PA++++ stated
  • Clean hands for the paddle

Watch-outs

  • No water or sweat resistance claim
  • No UV filters named
  • Expensive per gram

How to choose sunscreen for pickleball

  • Look for minutes, not “waterproof”: only Banana Boat and Anessa state 80 minutes. If a listing gives no minutes, reapply as if it were not water-resistant.
  • Use two formats: a body lotion or spray before you play, and a stick for the face, ears and neck between games, so your paddle hand stays dry.
  • Price per ml matters because you need a lot: at about a shot glass per full-body application (AAD), Belo costs ₱2.65 per ml and Anessa ₱32.52 per ml on 21 October 2026.
  • Check the notification yourself: search the product name on the FDA Philippines verification portal and compare the SPF. A listing whose SPF matches no notified product is a warning sign.
  • On windy courts, skip the spray or spray into your hands; never spray towards your face (AAD).
  • Protect your lips too: the AAD suggests a lip balm with SPF 30 or more. A hat, sleeves and shade breaks help as well; see our guide to sun-protection hats, sleeves and umbrellas.

How we researched this guide

We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list for sport sunscreen, sunscreen stick, water resistant sunscreen, Banana Boat, Sunplay and Neutrogena on October 21, 2026, then searched Shopee by brand (Banana Boat, Bioré, Anessa, Sunplay, NIVEA, Belo, Neutrogena) and for sun sticks, read each finalist’s full listing and checked each shop. We looked every product up in the FDA Philippines verification portal and recorded the notification number, holder and validity. We scored products with our published rubric: provenance and registration (25), disclosure (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We did not use or test any product.

No pick reaches 90: no seller prints its FDA notification number, only Belo names its UV filters, and only two listings give water resistance in minutes. Three notifications (Banana Boat, NIVEA, Seoul White) end between January and March 2027 and should be checked again. FDA Philippines notifies cosmetics; it does not approve them. The guidance sections are general information, not medical advice. This guide has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for this category.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best sunscreen for pickleball in the Philippines?

In our review the Belo SunExpert Body Shield SPF60 scored highest (83/100): an exact FDA notification match, named UV filters and ₱2.65 per ml. For a stated 80-minute water resistance, the Banana Boat Sport Coolzone Spray scored 76.

Is there a waterproof sunscreen?

No. The US FDA says there is no such thing as waterproof sunscreen; all sunscreens eventually wash off. Tested products state water resistance for 40 or 80 minutes.

How often should I reapply during pickleball?

The AAD says at least every two hours and immediately after heavy sweating. In practice, reapply between sessions and after you towel off.

What SPF do I need for outdoor courts?

The AAD recommends SPF 30 or higher, broad-spectrum and water-resistant. All five picks state SPF 50 or more.

Spray or lotion?

A spray is quick on arms and legs but must be rubbed in, kept off the face and avoided in wind. A lotion is easier to apply evenly. Many players use a lotion before play and a stick for the face between games.

Can I use a sun stick as my only sunscreen?

It is hard to apply enough over the whole body with a stick. Use it for the face, ears and neck; the AAD advises four back-and-forth passes over each area.

How much sunscreen should I use?

About 1 ounce, roughly a shot glass, for an adult body, according to the AAD, and about 15 minutes before you go outside.

Is the Banana Boat SPF 110 real?

We could not match it. The Banana Boat notifications we found are for SPF 50, 50+ and 100 products, so we did not rank SPF 110 listings.

Why is Anessa ranked fourth if it is made for sport?

Its listing states an 80-minute water test, but it costs ₱32.52 per ml, has no ingredient list and we could not tell which notified version the shop sells. We score what the listing states.

Is FDA notification the same as FDA approval?

No. FDA Philippines notifies cosmetics, including sunscreens sold as cosmetics; it does not approve them. You can look up any product on the FDA verification portal.

Do I need sunscreen on my lips?

The AAD recommends a lip balm with SPF 30 or more. Lips are easy to miss when you reapply between games.

Did you test these sunscreens?

No. We read the listings, checked the shops and the FDA notification register, and scored what the sellers put in writing.
