Our verdict
Mild acne usually responds to one gentle, consistent product used for weeks, not a shelf of actives; the pick that matters most is the one you can use daily without dryness. Of the six we scored, all FDA-notified, the Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser (87/100, ₱314 per 100 g) is the best documented, the Dermorepubliq Duos set (85/100, about ₱491) is the best toner and serum pair, and the Human Nature Acne Defense Trio (79/100, ₱550) is the pick for a gentler local starter set. The Acnes patches (77/100, about ₱246) are the best pimple patch we could verify.
We left out COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch: the FDA issued a public warning against it as an unauthorized cosmetic and we found no notification for it. We also did not cover acne medicines such as benzoyl peroxide gels, which are drugs. See a dermatologist for deep, painful or scarring acne. This is general information, not medical advice.
This guide covers cosmetic-type acne products: wash-off cleansers, toners and serums with salicylic acid or niacinamide, and pimple patches. Shopee lists thousands of “acne removal” items, many from unknown shops with names like “acne medicine” or “acne steroid cream”. We kept to brands with an exact FDA cosmetic notification, sold by their own or an official store, and compared what each listing states, claims and costs. For a plain cleanser without acne claims, see our facial cleanser guide.
6 of 6
products we scored have an exact FDA notification, while the FDA has named a popular patch, COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch, as an unauthorized cosmetic. A famous brand and an official store did not guarantee a notified product.

Acne basics: what the evidence says
These points come from American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) pages and a Yale Medicine dermatologist, found through search summaries rather than read in full. Treat them as general advice.
- Pick one product aimed at your type of acne and give it time. AAD says clearing takes at least 6 to 8 weeks, and suggests adding a second product with a different action if there is no improvement after 4 to 6 weeks.
- See a dermatologist for deep or scarring acne. AAD says large, painful pimples deep in the skin, cysts or nodules that can scar, and acne that has not cleared with store-bought products need a dermatologist. If you are pregnant or trying to be, ask before you start an acne product, because some are not safe in pregnancy.
- Do not pop pimples. A Yale Medicine dermatologist advises against squeezing, which can introduce bacteria and lead to infection, more inflammation and scarring.
- Hydrocolloid patches absorb fluid from a surface blemish and keep your hands off it. A commercial source says they work best on open, pus-filled spots, not deep cystic acne.
- Salicylic acid can dry or peel skin. A salicylic acid patch label advises cutting back if dryness or peeling happens and being careful about combining it with other acne products.
- Fewer products is usually better. Using a cleanser, toner, serum and spot treatment all with actives can irritate skin and make it hard to tell what helps.
- Benzoyl peroxide gels and similar treatments are drugs, not cosmetics, in the Philippines. This site does not review medicines; ask a doctor or pharmacist.
What the claims on these listings actually mean
| Claim | What it covers | Key exclusion |
|---|---|---|
| “FDA-notified” or “FDA-registered” | The cosmetic was notified to the FDA | Not a test of safety or whether it clears acne; check the exact product in the portal |
| “Removes 99% of dirt and acne-causing bacteria” | A lab-type result for a wash-off product | Contact time on the skin is seconds |
| “Dermatologist tested / recommended”, “clinically proven” | A brand statement | No study or number is shown on the listing |
| “Non-comedogenic” | Formulated not to clog pores | Not a test result; skin varies |
| “2% salicylic acid”, “5% niacinamide” | The strength of an active | Only stated on some listings; a few give no percentages |
| “Hypoallergenic”, “non-chemical”, “naturally derived” | Marketing terms | Not safety measures; everything is a chemical |
| “Hydrocolloid” | A material that absorbs fluid from a blemish | Works on surface spots, not deep acne |
| “Anti-bacterial”, “antiseptic” (spec tags) | A category tag on the listing | The FDA notification is for a cosmetic, not a drug |
Acne product listings we would be careful with
| Product | What we found | Our check |
|---|---|---|
| COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch, ₱140 | Sold by the COSRX Official Store with 10K+ ratings on the shop. The FDA issued Advisory No. 2022-2064 (January 2023) warning against it as an unauthorized cosmetic, and our search found notifications only for COSRX eye patches. We saw no advisory lifting it. | Not recommended; check the FDA portal |
| Unbranded “acne removal”, “acne medication” and “steroid” creams, ₱105 to ₱1,576 | Most of the Shopee offer list for “acne”. Names like “acne medicine” and “steroid” suggest a drug, and the FDA has repeatedly warned against unauthorized acne creams (for example Kevlo, Breylee, Ailisi and Kormesic Acne Gel, an unregistered drug). | Not scored |
| Benzoyl peroxide gels (Benzac, Kormesic), ₱299 to ₱1,020 | Drugs, not cosmetics. The FDA warned against Kormesic Acne Gel as an unregistered drug in November 2025. | Outside this guide |
| Unbranded pimple patches, 72 to 720 pieces for ₱23 to ₱75 | Hundreds of near-identical listings with “salicylic” and “tea tree” claims and no brand. The FDA has warned against unregistered acne patches (Vitacare 2020, Derma Angel 2022) and an unauthorized cosmetic patch (Daiso 2021). | Not scored |
| Imported “from USA” Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, ₱799 to ₱1,999 | Resellers sell the US formula at several times the local price; a Philippine version is notified. | Compare with the official store |
| Small-shop salicylic acid toners, ₱52 to ₱549 | Many have a notified-sounding name but no notification we could match, and prices that swing with the variant. | Not scored |

| Price | ₱314 per 100 g |
The best-documented acne product we found: an exact FDA notification, a full ingredient list with directions and warnings, and an official store behind it. At 0.5% salicylic acid it is a mild strength for daily use.
It is a wash-off cleanser, so it spends seconds on your skin, and the “99% of dirt” line is a lab-type claim. It contains fragrance, which some acne-prone skin does not like.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification and a full ingredient list
- Official store, 10K+ sold, ₱314 per 100 g
- Mild 0.5% salicylic acid for daily use
Watch-outs
- Contains fragrance
- Wash-off product with a short contact time
- “99%” and “dermatologist tested” are the maker’s claims

85/100
Both products FDA-notified

About ₱491
| FDA status | Both notified: Dermo Duo For Oil Control 2% Salicylic Acid (BHA) Toner, NN-1000015825619, and 5% Niacinamide + Hyaluronic Acid Serum, NN-1000015825521, both valid to January 2027, with later notifications for the same names |

| Claims | “Clarifying, anti-blemish”; “helps reduce the appearance of skin blemishes” |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet lists “Lip Benefits: Hydrating” and “Warranty Type: No Warranty”, which look pasted; the ₱356 headline is the travel size |
| Seller | Dermorepubliq: 6 years on Shopee, 1.2M followers; 4.9 stars from 6.1K ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | Full size ₱491 after voucher; travel size ₱356 |
A two-step pair from a local brand: a 2% salicylic acid toner for oil and clogged pores, and a 5% niacinamide serum. Both are exact FDA matches with the full ingredient lists printed, which most toners at this price do not offer.
Two actives together can dry or irritate skin, so start with the toner every other night. The serum contains snail secretion filtrate and the toner contains witch hazel, which some people avoid. The notifications run to January 2027, so check the FDA portal if you buy later.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification for both products
- Salicylic acid and niacinamide percentages and full ingredient lists stated
- 10K+ sold; about ₱491 for a pair
Watch-outs
- Two actives; introduce slowly
- Pasted fields in the specification sheet
- Headline price is the travel size

79/100
Best local starter set
3. Human Nature Acne Defense Trio: Spot Gel, Facial Wash and Toner (Human Nature Official Store)
ShopeeAll three FDA-notified
Tea tree, cica, niacinamide
Made in the Philippines

| Claims | “Tea tree helps prevent the growth of acne-causing bacteria”; “non-chemical”; “naturally derived” |
| Missing | No ingredient list and no percentages for any active |
| Inconsistencies | The specification sheet gives one volume (100 ml) and weight (100 g) for a three-product set |
| Seller | Human Nature Official Store: 5 years on Shopee, 854.4K ratings, 561K followers; 4.9 stars from 10K+ ratings on this listing, 10K+ sold |
| Price | ₱550 for the trio; wash ₱184, spot gel ₱234, toner ₱144 (the headline price) |
A complete three-step starter from a local brand, with an exact FDA notification for each product, which is rare for a bundle. It uses tea tree, cica and niacinamide rather than salicylic acid, so it is the gentler pick here.
The listing gives no ingredient list or strengths, so you cannot see how much of any active is in it. “Non-chemical” is marketing, not a measure of safety.
Why it scored well
- Each of the three products is FDA-notified
- Local brand; 10K+ sold; 4.9 stars
- Gentle, non-salicylic option
Watch-outs
- No ingredient list or percentages
- “Non-chemical” and “naturally derived” are not safety measures
- The ₱144 headline is the toner alone

78/100

| Price | ₱1,060 (about ₱449 per 100 ml) |
A triple-acid foaming gel from a brand known for sensitive-skin products, with an exact FDA notification and no fragrance, so it is a gentler way to use an exfoliating acid in a cleanser.
It costs about 1.4 times the Neutrogena per 100 ml. No acid strengths are stated, and “clinically proven” is the maker’s claim with no study shown. Salicylic acid can dry skin, so start every other day.
Why it scored well
- Exact FDA notification; fragrance-free
- Flagship store; 6.2K ratings; 10K+ sold
- Three exfoliating acids in a daily wash
Watch-outs
- Acid strengths not stated

1.2K ratings
About ₱100
| FDA status | A notified “Some By Mi Clear Spot Patch”: NN-1000014881755 (valid to July 2027) and NN-1000015796296 (valid to October 2029) |

| Price | ₱100 (list ₱154, shown as -35%), about ₱5.6 a patch |
The cheapest patch we could verify with the FDA, from an official store and with 1.2K ratings at 4.9 stars.
The listing has a title and nothing else. We could not tell what it is made of or how to use it, so we scored it lowest. Read the pack before use.
Why it scored well
- FDA-notified; official store; 4.9 stars from 1.2K ratings
- About ₱5.6 a patch
- Ultra-thin and waterproof by its title
Watch-outs
- Empty product description
- No ingredients, size or directions
- Notification valid to 2027 and 2029; check the portal
How to choose an anti-acne product
- Start with one product, used daily for six to eight weeks, before adding another.
- Look up the exact product name in the FDA verification portal. A famous brand or an official store did not guarantee a notified product.
- Read the ingredient list and skip fragrance if your skin reacts to it. A listing with no list tells you little.
- Match the product to the blemish: a wash or toner for oily skin and clogged pores, a patch for a surface whitehead, a doctor for deep acne.
- Introduce acids slowly, every other day at first, and stop if skin is dry, tight or peeling.
- Do not pop or pick. A patch is a way to keep your hands off a spot.
- Buy from the brand’s own or an official store, and be careful with cheap bundles and imports.
How we researched this guide
We searched the Shopee affiliate offer list and Shopee search for acne products on October 15, 2026. The offer list was mostly unbranded creams and copy-pasted patch listings, so we widened to Shopee search and brand searches and kept products from the brand’s own or an official store that we could match to an exact FDA cosmetic notification in the FDA Philippines verification portal. We read the listings in full and scored them with our published rubric: FDA status and provenance (25), disclosure of ingredients and sizes (20), claims (20), consistency (10), seller record (15) and value (10). We also searched the FDA’s advisories for each brand, which is how we found the warning against COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch. We did not use any product, and the Neutrogena cleanser is also reviewed in our facial cleanser guide.
The acne points come from search summaries of American Academy of Dermatology and Yale Medicine pages and a salicylic acid patch label, not the full pages. This guide is general information, not medical advice. It has not yet been reviewed by our health content reviewer, and we have not checked the Shopee affiliate programme’s rules for acne products.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best anti-acne product in the Philippines?
Of the six we scored, the Neutrogena Deep Clean Acne Foaming Cleanser (87/100, ₱314 per 100 g) is the best documented, the Dermorepubliq Duos set (85/100) is the best toner and serum pair, and the Acnes patches (77/100) are the best pimple patch we could verify.
Is COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patch safe in the Philippines?
The FDA issued Advisory No. 2022-2064 in January 2023 warning against it as an unauthorized cosmetic, and we found no notification for it in the portal. We did not include it. Check the FDA portal for its current status.
Do pimple patches work?
Hydrocolloid patches absorb fluid from a surface blemish and stop you touching it. They are not for deep, painful acne, and they do not treat the cause of breakouts.
Does salicylic acid clear acne?
It exfoliates and unclogs pores, so it can help mild breakouts and oily skin. Start slowly, because it can dry skin. Persistent or deep acne needs a dermatologist.
How long does it take to see results?
AAD says clearing takes at least 6 to 8 weeks, and suggests adding a different product if there is no improvement after 4 to 6 weeks.
When should I see a dermatologist?
For large, painful, deep pimples, cysts or nodules, acne that scars, acne that has not cleared with store-bought products, or if you are pregnant or trying to be.
Should I pop pimples?
No. Squeezing can introduce bacteria, cause infection and more inflammation, and lead to scarring. A patch can keep your hands off.
Is a benzoyl peroxide gel a cosmetic?
No. In the Philippines it is a drug, so we do not review it; ask a doctor or pharmacist. The FDA has warned against unregistered acne gels such as Kormesic Acne Gel.
What does FDA-notified mean?
The company told the FDA about the cosmetic and got a notification number. It is not a test of safety or of whether the product clears acne.
Are the ₱50 toners and ₱30 patch packs safe?
We did not score them. They come from unknown shops, often without a notification we could match, and the FDA has warned against unregistered acne patches and creams.
